The Official Voting System can be found here. -[link]- Please make sure you are fully aware of these rules prior to making any proposals. Thank you. Ok, now onto a discussion for an ammendment. This is something I've thought about in the past. There isn't any sort of guideline as to HOW OFTEN a similar/identical proposal can be made. In other words, theoretically you could have TWO members running congruent proposals for the same item OR more like, you could have another proposal for the same item IMMEDIATELY after the first proposal finishes. (eg. I make a proposal for Apples Bear to be honorarily inducted into FT, the proposal FAILS miserably. After 6 days I make the proposal again this time hoping for better results) So here's what I'm suggesting we discuss a new ammendment (#5) that reads something as follows: "After successful completion of a proposal, either pass or fail, X days must pass before a similar/identical proposal can be brought up for vote again. Proposals that have been locked, deleted or cancelled are exempt from this rule. Only proposals that have passed or failed meet this requirement." My suggestion for X = 30 days. I think this is a fair amount for any biasedness from the previous vote to subside. The reason for the exemption, in cases where a proposal was ill-timed, invalid, or otherwise not going to reach completion (pass or fail) there is little reason to restrict this proposal from being made again. That I can see anyway. So.... that's it, DISCUSS! |

30 days sounds great. say apple bear failed because nobody really knew him. a month gives our beary friend the chance to get to know everyone before the next proposal. exemption is also good. |

I say awsome idea. However, i like 21 days instead of 30. 3 weeks should be sufficient. We have to take into account other types of proposals. Plus, it makes it a bit more interesting... Cuz if someone fails a nom, in 21 days they could re-nom... but... would they pass? Lets not make it so 30 days will get them to pass. Have them decide if they are ready for another nom... otherwise they gonna have to wait yet another 21 days. |

What constitutes a "similar" proposal could be controversial. Also, I think that a month is a little too much. Two weeks, 14 days, I think is more reasonable. |

I dunno, 3 weeks seems like a happy medium... taking into account all other types of proposals. If you guys wanna throw out my 21 day idea, then at least go with 28 days... 4 weeks exactly, also easier to keep track of. |

A similar proposal would be like a nomination... and then a termination... or something... I think identical sums it up best. But like I'm thinking servers and stuff with "similar" like "hey lets vote in this zombie server" and then less than a month later we get "booo lets terminate this zombie server" it could go for people as well. It just gives any decision we make a month to sink or swim. As for ease that's why I said 30 days... so you can just go, oh well first proposal was on 7/7, next one can be on 8/7. Just change bump it up a month. I don't expect 30 days EXACT, but a month... however it works. Edited Mon Jul 07 2008, 05:48PM |
