Hi, been a while, eh? So I seem to have lost touch with our beautiful website. Consider me returned. I figured I'd let you all know what I've been doing in my life. So as some of you know, I left Long Island, my home of 18 years, last August, to go to school at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I live in a dorm with basically no rules, which is nice because I can do pretty much whatever I want. My first semester did not go as well as I had hoped. I was on a system of Pass/No Record, which means that the only grade was a P, and if you fail, it doesn't appear on your record. This system made me feel as though I could ride through school effortlessly, as I had done my entire life. I was of course, wrong, and ended up dropping one class, and barely passing the other three. As if that wasn't enough, I also got wrapped up in a bit of a drug habit, ending up addicted to not one drug specifically, but really anything I could get my hands on. I had no job, and consequently ran out of money very quickly. That's my excuse for the server I was funding not being up anymore. Sorry. In addition to my problems at school, I was experiencing some problems with my parents. They became convinced that I wasn't trustworthy enough to be on my own at college, kept threatening to bring me home, found out I was smoking, started suspecting that I was doing drugs, etc. Wasn't fun. The month of January at MIT is called IAP, for Independent Activities Period. Basically, there's no class except if you choose to take one, or do some other activity. I used it as a period to, more or less, sort my life out. I got the need to do drugs out of my system (mostly by doing them so much that I was sick of it). I applied for a somewhat exclusive job, I'm one of about 20 students doing tech support for the whole MIT community of 20,000+ people. It's an alright job, but they've been training me for about a month now, and it's getting annoying. Anyway, the spring semester started about a month ago, and I'm doing much better. I'm in classes that I mostly like (Differential Equations, Intro to Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Physics E+M, and Intro Bio), on my way to a degree in Electrical Engineering. Anyway, that's me. I'll try to come around more often, and not be such a stranger. Amped out. |
