I read lot... I mean like alot. I've found that the best way to learn about anything is through direct experience. However this is impractical and undesirable in many situations (like learning about the holocaust for example) Therefore reading about things seems to be the second best and in many cases the best way to learn about any subject. So without further adieu I present a brief (read: extended) list of some of the books that have influenced and molded my perceptions. Fiction First of let me say I'm not a huge fan of fiction. Therefore this list is brief, but these books are still great nonetheless. Patriots: Surviving the Coming Collapse by James Wesley Rawles- this book is the ultimate "what if" scenario. Written by a former military surivial expert this book is loaded with realistic situations and thoroughly accurate;y detailed (from how to reinforce a house to be ballistic resistent, install a wind powered generator, assemble and arrange land mines, make thermite... etc, etc.) Besides the "action scenes" are very intense and follow a small band of survirors through their journey after "the collapse" and include skirmishes with roaming motorcycle gangs to all out assaults with the New United States military. Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk - Forget the movie. This is the real deal, raw uncut, uneditted not formatted to fit your screen. Basically shifted my entire thought paradigm away from material possession and more towards the developing of one's self. Stephen King, perhaps it's cause I'm a New Englander but Stephen King is a phenomenal writer and has this uncanny ability to create the most unnerving situations. My two favorites are Pet Cemetary and The Stand. The Complete Works of WIlliam Shakespeare - say what you will, think what you want but William Shakespeare (or Bill as I like to call him) is the best story writer I have ever had the fortune of reading. Written originally as plays his stories span the intellectual spectrum to ensure that anyone could enjoy something from his plays. It's not light reading... as many of the words had very different meanings in his time... but after plowing through a few stories and seeing the same words over and over in different contexts... you can get the jist of it. The Divine Comedy by Dante - follow a poet through his journey from hell to heaven and the souls he meets along the way discovering the virtues and vices that got them there. Good read, better on tape. (unless you can read fluent italian get this on tape... the rhyme scheme falls apart when translated to english) Animal Farm by George Orwell - oh how easily persuaded we are when we're told what we want to hear. Great F'N story. The Wealthy Barber by David Chilton - convinced me the benefits or more important the disadvantages one would face if they don't invest at least a portion of their income. Entertaingly written. Non-Fiction (ah the good stuff) Nichomachean Ethics by Aristotle - the beginning of my classical influence. What is the essence of "good"? What is right? What is just? What is fair? In the general sense and then for the individual. Excess vs deficient qualities, how to act and how to react in the "right" way. A must read IMO. The Republic by Plato - Everyone in this clan should read it lol. The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of Seduction by Robert Greene - The Laws of Power is by far one of the more influencial books in my life. Written with countless examples of the not only the observance but transgression (somtimes numerous examples) of each law using real historical figures. A must read for anyone ambitious looking to obtain or solidify their power. Crime School: Money Laundering: True Crime Meets the World of Business and Finance by CHRIS MATHERS and Drug Smuggling: The Forbidden Book by K. Hawkeye Gross - As an employee who earns a large amount of untaxed money (bartender) and an aspiring coke dealer (which I've given up) I needed to learn how to move illegal money... now I know. The Art of War by Sun Tzu - strong is weak, weak is strong. Know thy enemy, know thy self. Only fight battles you can win. Always leave your enemy with an escape route. Make them come to you. When all else fails, burn the city down. Prisoner's Dilemma by William Poundstone - game theory... mmm great freakin shit right here. Uses the cold war and numerous case studies to support the relatively new field of math that revolves around how to make decisions based on other "players" responses... which can't be known, but predicted. The Intelligent Investor and Security Analysis by Bejamin Graham - after reading the wealthy barber and deciding to invest. I figured I might as well do it right. The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith - written in 1776 this book is an essential foundation to understanding macroeconomics and how capitalism turly works. The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx - Viva la proletariat! we shall band together and overthrow the bourgeious regime! Viva la revolution! LoL this book meant little to nothing to me... but I read it. Influence: The Pyschology of Persuasion by Robert Cialdini - if you haven't read this and you find yourself having trouble convincing people to let you borrow a dollar let alone do some thankless task for you. Read this. Disclaimer: The concepts in this book at truly powerful and if used immorally will result in manipulative, deceptive and generally reprehensible behavior at the expense of pretty much everyone you come into contact with. Phew, ok that's enough I'm tired of typing.... there's more... alot more. But that's a good start and should give you guys an idea as to the background I'm coming from. Do not fuck with me. LoL |

I don't like reading it is to full of facts and I odnt care for facts lol jk. (had to do the cobert thing) Personally I am not a huge fan of reading the only bookI read out of al lthose was fight club which the book did kick the movies ass. Though I dont like to read a lot i end up doing so a lot. I like reading mostly fantasy and little articals of information that seemingly has no reason. Also I dont like history it gets boring but sometimes the origans of things like who was the real Dracula (vlad the impaler) can be cool. Reading dose get boring I would take a movie over a book any day but I think the books are a lot better in story then the movie. I just think they should do better jobs making the movies. |

I tend to stick to Military History(weapons and how they work), Car Manuals(american muscle ftw!), and Computer books(not software). And I think William Shakespear can suck my left nut! | ||

Well, there wasn't an "in between" option so i choose Fuck Reading for the fun of it. I like to read but i can't really find time for it between sports, school, and SOURCE. So i read when i can or if i find a really good book. | ||
