Number one we need to understand a few ground rules: 1. My god can not kick your god's ass, they are (for the most part) all the same guy. 2. God is man, end of story. 3. After reading the bible, and going through the catholic teachings in church/CCD I've come to the conclusion that God can be compared to Sling Blade. God is not nice and loving, that's santa claus. Jesus was his "son" on earth, who loved everyone. He was the world's first hippie, started a cult, turned water to wine and probably threw an orgy or two. He loves you, your mother and your ugly cousin. God doesn't give a fuck about you, if anything he is pissed off about the whole adam and eve thing and you are "building his kingdom" to repent. There are those of us who understand this grand scheme and also understand it's more to be bad, and all will be forgiven regardless. See god may have created us, but it's not like hes hanging around watching that grow and waiting to extend a hand to start/stop a war or prevent nuclear attacks or end world hunger. He ain't superman. If anything God has moved on to the next fun thing to play with. Atheism is a form of denial and fear. That's all it is. You can criticize someone for believing in something because you cant see it or understand it, but if they hold their faith so that its real to them, well happy fucking tuesday. I know that if anyone ever pulled a gun on an atheist they'd say something like, "Oh my god" and "please God don't do this" Most kids today are atheists cause they think it's cool to be intellectual and set apart from everyone. I agree with some of waht you said, but i personally dont give a crap. I don't lean towards one or the other. I dont belive there is a god but i dont run around preaching about Satan and how gay god is. | ||

Most despised forum topic ever. I've been apart of so many fucking religious posts it's not funny (biggest and best of which was at weirdpier.com back in 2000ish) Anyway... believe whatever the hell you want. Is my motto, just don't expect me to give a crap or not think you're crazy. Because I don't.... and I do... that is all. |

Yah im all for agnosticism, i dont follow a set religion, but i dont deny god's exhistence. Its kinda one of those things that ill leave to find out when im dead, not something im willing to kill many ppl over in different countries for stupid reasons like because they have a different opinion. To me its cool if u belive and its cool if u dont. My belief is that no matter if there is an afterlife/god or not be a good person while ure on earth and if there is an afterlife ull get accepted and if u dont because u wernt a god fearing christian,muslim,budhist, w/e the fuck then why would i want to be in that heaven anyways. And man us agnostics are so misunderstood ppl always tell me its either u love jesus and ure christian or ure a godless bastard who is going to burn in hell, ppl jus need to lighten up life isnt about worry about what will happen when ure dead its about living and seeing what u can do and achieve while ure alive; what kinda legacy will u leave that will be remembered for ages. | ||

"God is not nice and loving" if you are getting this from the bible...remeber that the bible was taken down by man. If you did study the bible , you would realize the 2 differnt Gods. The old testament God(the strict harsh ruler whos isn't so forgiving) and then we have the new testament God, who is more forgiving and loving. Last year i went through a whole year of bible study bassically. Since the bible was taken down by man(and differnt men at that), God can be pictured in many differnt ways. God could be in the human form, God could be totally abstract, or he could be as a symbol (burning bush) *this is bassically a catholic view point on the bible Over all the bible should be taken not literally, but searched for personal redemtion and crap like that As for the atheism part, one of my friends is an atheist at a catholic school. I think the reason he started his beleive or lack their of, was like someone said to be different and intellectually superior. From my experience with atheist who like to preach their cause is that they are God haters and christian haters. *An atheist man creates a God for him not to beleive in... |

everyone should remember, similar to what drunkirishmafia said, that religion was created by man and therefore is naturally flawed. And anyways you should be free to believe what you want because in the end it all doesnt really matter. This is true if religion isnt true because then none of your beliefs count for anything, and if all religions are true then everyone is going to hell or some bad place anyways because each religion essentially says that anyone not in their religion is going to hell(or an equivalent place) |

I basically agree with what everyone has said but what you said Wu. The way I see it is: There are so many different religions(all created by man) that all say the other religions are wrong. Who is right? I personally think that religion is corrupt, but thats just what I think. I don't believe there is a god/heaven/hell/whatever, but I refuse to dictate my beliefs to others as what they should believe. Believe what you want, thats your choice, not ours. I don't think it's right for anyone to say that someone else's belief is wrong and yours is right, that is just pure arrogance. I am, if you haven't guessed, an atheist. I don't think anyone should care what someone else's religion is, we all have the right to worship what/who/lack-there-of we want.
