perhaps THE most controversial subject of our time... I'd like this to be a thread where people can bring up questions they have about race... I feel that the most important thing here is to not get offended, especially if you are not white, as you will most likely be the center of this debate. One of the most annoying things that I've come across while trying to discuss racism is people who do not allow the discussion of it... they simply call the person who would like to discuss the differences of the races a "racist faggot", where faggot can be replaced by a wide range of nouns... In my experience with negroes, I've found that most blacks are more physically built than caucasians (and asians, etc... at that), as can be seen in many professional sports teams, but they lack intelligence where whites are naturally superior to them. Because intelligence, in today's society, is more of value to america, and other industrialized nations, is it not a fair assumption to say that whites are naturally superior to blacks? I do not feel that any race should be treated poorly, or given anything but common courtesy, and civil rights are a basic human necessity. Any law passed in america that separates the rights of races is a racist law. In this regard, i find affirmative action is racist, as I'm sure many of the majority white population feel. Now we get into the name calling. When someone is called a nigger, I'd like to ask you what you think is going on... is the person being called a nigger simply because they're black, or are they being called a nigger because they've done something to offend a person of a different race? I'm not sure... I've never seen or heard someone called a nigger directly to their face. I see whites who whisper to their friends after a black makes a huge hand gesture and flips out, screaming through the halls chasing one of his friends... but we're too afraid to publically discuss our differences, and we're too afraid to discuss the meaning of these words that, for some reason, offend people. (I'd also like to find out why these words are so offensive! Who cares?! it's just a name!!!) No living black american was ever legally held as property (as a slave), so why is the discussion of reparations (sp?) still about? shall whites repay blacks for what they have not themselves done, and their ancestors not done to the ones who seek the money in the first place? "40 acres and a mule" was given to black slaves when they were freed. was this not good enough? Even if it wasn't, what can we do now? I'm not sure of what to write as of now. i look forward to reading responses that will be gi-HUGE-ic in length from wildcard, nightrider, etc... (and I'll actually read them this time ;D) I'd love to hear some opinions. (maybe we can get on teamspeak/vent sometime and discuss this as well, as typing things out is laborious...) Alright this is surely an attempt to stir the hive but defnatly a intresting topic. Chris Rock said it best "Who is more racist a black man or a white man? A black man because we hate back people to." we in this case being black people lol. Seriously though it is fairly true that more often then not the raciest aren't the majority but acully the minority people don't think about that kind of racism because we are the majority. In the past this may not have been the case but if you think about it this is currently true. We can't say some words because of the color of our skin like nigger is not allowed to the white man. Martian Luther king would be spinning in his grave to hear that not because we can't call someone a bad name but because the black people who had to fight so hard and struggle for the freedoms now are judging people based on the color of their skin. A black man can call his friends this but a white person says it and all hell breaks loss. I do understand the term was made to make black people feel inferior and that it was to define them as dumb asses but it isn't like I go up to my friends and say "Hey cracker what's hanging?". We also seem to go easy on them when they insult us with a rascal slur because of thousands of years of oppression. First lets look at their horrible enslavement. The white man didn't just go there and start picking up random people and saying fuck yeh your mine bitch. We went over there to steal people land like we always do and the black people who lived there sold us the slaves. Yeh that is right the person who captured our slaves were fucking black. The people who were enslaved where villages that were taken over by other tribes and then sold in exstange for weapons and other goods they made a killing till the white man wised up and took over the operation. They then got put into horrible condtions and you know I say that sucked I feel sorry for them. They got beat out of their own homes put on a boat and nearly die just so they could go somewhere to do back breaking labor and get almost nothing in return that sucked balls. I would pay them for anything my ancestors did but the current population hasn't had to put up with shit and there for they deserver nothing. Then lets get into stereotypes. Look these exist because they are currently or were at one point real for a large amount of people not all and not always is it 100% accurate for a lot of people but where there is smoke there is fire. I would like to clarify this more though I am not saying that the group has to be a large % of your population just has to be enough to make people think it. Like that black people are all on well fair this isn't true I know a lot of good hard working black people and not all them are lazy but if you look at the numbers on well fair in respect to the amount of people of that race they are the more likely to be on it. The point being if you want to stop a stereotype then make it no longer true. I am not someone who makes assumptions based on stereotypes but I also don't get offended by stereotypes that are associated with me. Though what really pisses me off are those people who get angry about positive stereotypes. What I am talking about would be like Asians are good at school or that black people can play good sports. These are harmless things I see no reason to get angry maybe you can discourage it or say it isn't true but what is there to get angry about. Fuck if people thought I was smarter just because I was white then I wouldn't get angry lol. Onto government everyone's favorite topic. They are very racist...... sorry but if you were thinking I was going to say they hate blacks your wrong. Acully they are the ones that force jobs and colleges to keep so many of minorities. Your probably saying to me what the hell why is giving the minorities a chance a bad thing. This is called racism agenst a majority. A a white man could beat a black man slightly at all areas in their studies and everything that looks nice to a college but be turned down and the black man gets in because of the color of his skin. That there is racism. These laws are racist agenst both whites and blacks. The whites I have already stated but then your probably wondering how is this racist to blacks? if you think about it these laws are saying "Your to weak to stand on your own so we are going to give you the easy ride." Personally I think no race is any weaker then others and should have to face the same trials as anyone else. Related to this a lot of colleges that try to keep up apperence give the black communitie anything they want just because they will be called racist and undeverse if they don't. Now don't think I forgot about all the other minorities I know I been knocking on the blacks here and really that is because they are normally the people you think of when you think minorities being oppressed and calling people racist. Most the stuff I said apply globally to all of you and to be quite honest I don't know a lot of problems with other minorities but that is probably based on where I live we don't get much other then blacks and korens (sp) up here. I am sick of hearing damn exscues for people failures they really need to grow up and take responsibility for their actions. When some Black, Spanish, Asian, or any other minority says they hate me or anything like that I don't go blaming it on the color of my skin and nether should they. People should be judged on their actions not what they look like an that is how I have always acted but whenever I don't like someone who happens to be the other color of skin or I don't choose them because they are less qualified then someone else then I am a fucking racist and the devil. Now to get to responding to the above post made by noiste (probably very above by the time I finished this lol) The black people seem more built in America because when we enslaved them back in the day we breed them like race horses to make them stronger and better workers it just happens to work out that this is the perfect traits for sports. if you went to Africa then you would find them very different. White people are no smarter then black people it is just a matter of people trying to become smart. A black man can be as smart or smarter then a white man but likewise a white man could be smart or smarter then a black man. It isn't fair to assume that anyone is naturally superior to anyone else. I don't see how it fits into a discussion about racism, except where we pushed them down, and that might be the reason why they are not as intelligent. I know that partially, blacks are less intelligent because they were born that way through their genes, but there's also the environment factor, as was brought up... because they are poorer, as a generality, they go to worse schools, and have less chances at success. Also: blacks weren't the only slaves. roman slaves were forced to kill each other for an audience. I'd rather work on a plantation, if i had the choice. Then lets get into stereotypes. These two things have the same definition... they both simply mean that most people, or a large portion of people in a certain group, say blacks for instance, are better at basketball than whites... this stereotype holds up, does it not? as a generality, blacks are more physical, as I said... so this should hold up that most blacks are better than most whites, eh? I know that there are exceptions to this, as there are exceptions to every rule. there are intelligent blacks. to not think this would be ignorance. but i find that the vast majority are less intelligent than whites. I threw a quarter on the ground a few years back to get it across to a jew that no one likes him, and it wasn't because i didn't like that he was jewish, it's that i didn't like HIM, and it was an easy way to get him to understand. The problem I have with the Black culture is that they have this irresistible need to make themselves feel important by making holidays. Don't even get me started on their names, holy shit who the hell comes up with shaniqua or chareel or fitty cent. Seriously whoever has a name like that obviusly wants to bring attention to themselves, even if it is to separate themselves from other races. The so called genre of music called rap is poisoning not only their race, but all the other cultures who are even remotely close to a radio. they preach about how they got shot 9 times and all that jazz. what I'm trying to say with rap is that it's so popular and they preach about shit that is really detrimental to anybody who listens to it I'll add more to this later. Thats not the point, Nostie. The point is that it's so popular, for reasons unknown to me, that the things that they rap about in their songs(or whatever) is just bad for any culture in general. These so called artists are on the radio talking about how they just mowed down the fuckers who sole their 40 oz. malt beer. Rap has become the most popular type of music in the US. The Rap industry is dominated by artists’ who mostly dedicate their lyrics to either violence, drugs, or sex. Through 1998 and 1999 the survey taken by the National Music Bureau, stated that 46% of the listeners of Rap are under the age of 19. While 65% of the listeners, live in run-down homes, or impoverished areas, usually being inner cities. The National Music Bureau also reported that in the 66% of the listeners of Rap who are under the age of 19, 86% of those teen-agers are black. Along with that fact, many of the artists sing about their ghettos, and their past ways of life, which included, drugs, sex, murder, and alcohol. The listeners of rap living in run down areas in the inner cities see themselves in the same situation as many of the rap artists’, and duplicate what they hear. So although a person may be responsible for his or her action, rap music dramatically affects the lives of America’s inner cities and slums. |
