There are many topics that people consider off limits to talk about but it would seem that unless they are talked about progress is never made. instead of take up the responsibility and suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous misfortune people normally just cave in and delete post and retract statements to avoid confrontation. The question I pose is should we just never talk about things that are contraversal because someone will always take offense and cause conflict or should we talk our minds without fear of others taking offense. Personally I am a man who loves free speech i feel that nothing should be off limits to talk about. I think that arguments and conflict are natural in this world that without any mixture of ideas and the fight that they cause then no progress will ever be made. If you are for something you can voice opinion if your offended you can say your piece but the offense of one dose not destroy the voices of many. In case your thinking about it I will come straight out and say it this is brought on by the racism topic's deletion based on a person's offense to it but that is only what got me thinking about it. In real life I see this happen all the time people will only fight for their ideas when it is convent and when they think people will get angry with them they withdraw and act as if nothing happened but they will never change their thoughts and in the end that just means nothing was accomplished and under the surface a conflict brews until it burst. What are your thoughts on this? Edit When I made this topic I thought that racism had been deleted but it had just been renamed and moved to tech support but this I feel is still a valid question. Well I think out of all of the people here you all know how I feel. If I do not agree with something I am going to voice my opinion no matter what. I am also very combative on the topics I choose to talk about. Pocky is right conflict is bound to happen everywhere you go. If you always back down and decide to let things go nothing is resolved. In order to learn more about eachother, same race or not, we should be able to put our feelings down for everyone to view right? |

I think this comes down to what exactly is being said in a questionable topic. In my opinion, people are way to sensitive now a days and are taking the whole politically correct thing a bit too far. I mean you have to really look at it this way: when you're making a topic, lets say "how mental retardation situations are funny," you're going to have people go "OMG, how can you make fun of them, have you no compassion?" Well in truth you're not really making fun of them. You're not bringing up the topic with the intent of going "bwah ha ha ha you're retarded and now have to chance for a bright future." You're simply laughing because the situation at hand is funny. If i saw one of my closest friends crap themselves while sitting in a restraunt i would be cracking up, but society tells me that if he's retarded i'm not allowed to do so. When you bring up the topic of racism, a thread is fine as long as its the discussion about it and not just a bunch of idiots sitting around thinking up racist names and stereotype activites. So as for free speech, sure its great thing but don't be a dick about it. like i said before, its ok as long as you're not trying to insult or put down directly. Don't go around screaming "death to Jews and N*ggers" like the god fuck KKK in threads and not give any valid responses, but if you think that something needs to be discussed go for it...after all, what are they going to bitch slap you over the net? |

I am talking about questionable topics in general I don't mean hate topics like "lets go kill all the jews" or something that is a not questionable that is a hate topic. Stuff like a post on racism or something that people are very sensitive about. The retarded person topic would fall under this because the apolitically correct stuff makes it questionable. I have never been a fan of politically correct and I most likely will never be considered it and am damn proud of that. While I can make any topic I want I am talking about it in more of a moral sense should we be morally obligated to avoid touchy topics to spare someone's feelings at the expense of progress. This is not just about talking on the net but also about real life. You rarely ever see anyone in real life talk about any issue that is sensitive and that is a problem as far as I can tell. I am sorry if I wasn't 100% clear on that lol. |

its a muthafucking message board! controversey should be allowed as long as someone doesn't show a hate for a certain race/person/whatever for no apparent reason. If people can have a logical debate/conversation without sounding like morons then they should be allowed. | ||

ok here is the end. a bunch of youngsters not even tax payers should try or even attempt to question race IMO some of the people who want to questiopn race hasn't learned fully about puberty or let alone been on this earth long enough. How can you say we will never move foward on this topic? you ,I ,us, or anybody can't change the way it is viewed let alone perceived. some of yall youngsters act like yall are going to fix the issue right here well guess what yall are not. Listen I dont know where some of yall live but racism is not a issue in my life or my area. my girl is white and my daughter is white, spanish, and black. so for me to question any race or how its viewed IMO is stupid childish and just gay. Im 24 years old and I could care less what a few hypocritical kiddys have to say at all. Maybe if yall was my age or atleast 21, pay taxes, have your own house (not living and survivng off of mommy) then maybe yall can start a deep conversation about it. Also this is not directed to anyone who has the the commonsense not to question the unchangable in our lives, country and planet |

wu, you're right about half of that. i live in a nice cushy house. my mom has a nice cushy job... but reality is what you make of it man. maybe in your life, racism isn't a huge deal, people don't have the time to debate what they can't change, because it's not a money maker. because my mom has the cushy job, which brings in the cushy money, i can devote my energy to questioining the things that i can not change. It does not solve nothing; it increases my awareness of my surroundings. Tits, you said you weren't offended. you sound pretty offended ;D | ||

Also this is not directed to anyone who has the the commonsense not to question the unchangable in our lives, country and planet I don't know about everyone but I am a tax payer so get your facts straight I also know a good deal of people are. The fact is if you can make a issue popular enough then it forces people to talk about while no one man can do anything alone. He can always recruit others to his cause and change theirs and other lives, the country, possibly even the world. You just need enough support for a cause. The fact is even if not everyone who I talk to can vote most of them are at least close to that point in their life and every generation so far is bigger then the last which means they campaign for a younger audience more. In other words if you push a campaign for a lot of younger people it can become a political issue. In the end it is still idealist view of things and I realize that but I would rather be a foolish dreamer then a angry pessimists who knows he can change nothing. I been both in my life and I find that being a dreamer is the better it has more hope and besides if you try you can accomplish more then you would if you just said it can't be done. As for racism effecting life acully it dose effect me but not in the normal black hating white I get a lot more of the blacks hating whites deal. It still isn't a huge factor but every time I see stuff like that it pisses me off I never been able to back out of a fight agenst something that doesn't sit well with me even if it doesn't effect me at all. |
