Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I said it's who your audience is. You can joke about something like that... A joke is when you do something that can be laughed at, but you aren't serious when you say it. If you say it infront of people with AIDs or social activists or whatever then it will not be funny. But go watch Team America and it is.

American humour and British humour in some ways are different but the intention of "Jokes" are the same everywhere. In some ways i agree with tzahal, like different audiences will find jokes amusing but others may not ,but here in England we find comedians making jokes about the audiences home/origins. Take for example Peter Kay who made jokes about the city he was located in, this is very common with comedians. Jokes are there to be enjoyed but not everyone enjoys them. It is with all jokes racist jokes/fat jokes/blonde jokes etc..... they are there to be enjoyed but obviously not everyone likes them they can offend people. But thats how it is. If everyone was selfless and always thought about the others feelings would life be a boring place? My opinion is yes. Our race, our appearance in ways is what defines us, peoples humour is also different and saying that it is wrong to make fun of people is your opinion, but it is not necessarily right. We are all free to choose what we find funny and what isn't funny. Personally I do find racist jokes funny white/black/asian/indian/british/american I do not fidn them all amusing but some. But this does not mean that I would find racists going out and tormenting/hurting certain people with specific features or religions funny. Jokes are there to be enjoyed but its your opinion if you enjoy them. |

Don't forget about the South Park episode in which Cartman gets everyone to watch "The Passion of the Christ", then organnizes everyone to gather up all the jews and put them in camps and stuff. I don't see much difference in that compared to Bleek's joke, in how it was meant, anyway. My opinion is that most people want to jump on a bandwagon. Sure, there might be a few people that truly are offended by anything that's said, but most people, I think, get involved on one side of an issue or another depending on which side is the majority at the time. The biggest thing to remember is that perception is what determines whether or not something will be offensive and everyone's perception is different for every situation. Rather than damning someone to hell for what they say or what they believe, wouldn't it be better to try and understand why they feel the way they do? And with that, I'll admit, some people are just evil and may not have any reason for saying, doing or believing along one particular line because of plain ignorance or stubbornness, but most people say, do and believe things based on some experience. Wait, what was I talking about?

haha Rim. I agree, what you just said is the truth. The thing I'm least sure about, though, in that post is the bandwagon thing... I think that people morally believe that racism is wrong, but they jump on the bandwagon when the encounter a potentially racist remark. I'm not sure though. I think that the internet is divided on this issue, whereas the real world is all in favor of shutting racist jokes up. |

Here we go again. I'll make this quick. Bleek's "joke" and fools joke thread was against Jews. Saying "You were acting like a jew, so I don't care" Seems kind of racist to me. Nonetheless, when you talk about joking about something, you're talking about joking about a mass murder and attempt of a genocide of Jews. I don't think it's really funny, and if I was the ridicule of the joke, I wouldn't think it would be very funny either. Nonetheless, Nostie's racism thread that brought alot of attention to it a couple of months back obviously got alot of negativity from myself and other members, and rather than proving any point at all, it seemed like an attempt to poke at black people by bringing up biased information among intelligence, strength, ect. Nonetheless, that was a reason why it got much negativity, and considering this happened, your whole "joke" thread Bleek got alot of negativity as well. I don't think it's really fair to joke about something as serious as the jewish religeon. This is a forum, but there are limits and those should be recognized. |

I think the problem lies within people taking racism too far. Many people use it as comedy but some individuals actual use the comedy to hurt people(physically and mentally). Using this thought process the governing bodies try to supress our racist comments in an attempt to stop it from escalating.

Rim wrote ... South Park is a comedy show that makes fun of people for being stupid. It shows ignorance and how easily it is to manipulate people. I laughed so hard during that episode... At the end of most or all South Park episodes, it shows either Stan or Kyle and rarely Cartman telling the moral of the story that was portrayed in the show, while during the whole show it exploits the truth about society.

It really depends on it, but what about the social acceptability of these jokes? EDIT: I just realized. Jesus. the other one. Why is your name Jesus if you're Jewish? Well, it is a highly debatable topic...Everybody has a different perspective... "Utilitarianism is the ethical doctrine that the moral worth of an action is solely determined by its contribution to overall utility." If you take the Utilitarianistic approach to it, if I am understanding this correctly, it would mean that if you told a joke to 10 people, if 7 found it funny and 3 found it offensive, it would be more acceptable than a joke with 5 who find it funny and 5 who dont. But you can go with a joke that keeps religion or race out of the equation and get 9-1 or 10-0 and that is the best route. I have already explained it in my intro thread but... My name is Joshua In hebrew: Yehoshua Short form hebrew: Yeshua or Yeshu Jesus in hebrew: Yeshu... Striking resemblence? |

Bleek how much do you actually know about these subjects? Jesus was a Jew... I'm not too sure what your intent with this post is but you run the risk of coming across as ignorant. |
