Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

This won't apply to most of you. Particularly those without gainful employment. But if anyone has any good suggestions, advice or input on the following topics: Toyota Production System (TPS), Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma. I'm not looking to discuss it at length here but if you know of any good books, videos. examples, whatever I'd be very appreciative. It's quickly becoming a topic of interest to me for neccesary reasons. I just bought The Goal and The Toyota Way to start. ANyway thoughts are welcome. |

serious, God of Google, You're asking a bunch of teenagers(whom you reference as "those without gainful employment"), but seriously who the fuck in this clan do you think would have any idea wtf you're talking about? lol This time, I'm NOT being a dick. I just seriously think you will not get anything out of this forums that you are looking for. If you googled it you'd get better results. however, I will work for you tomorrow and see what I can find on the internetz |

Just throwing shit against the wall seeing what sticks. Also I'm IN everything, sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, customer service, tech support. The only thing I don't do is accounting, but I just got Quickbooks so give me a few months and I'll be doing PO's and Bill Payments as well. Manufacturing is the next target I have sights on. |

Well, if you want to manufacture anything well at all and make a tidy profit, you need some good old fashioned child labour. Get them from someplace that doesn't speak english and you can pay them even less. |

Urg, don't know too much about Toyota in specific, but if you need general help on manufacturing workflow and setting up a nonspecific production line then I could answer questions. I also have a friend involved in the production line aspect of heavy industrial applications who I could forward specific questions to. | ||

Well I already have a relatively successful company here $2 Million+ but we're having a fuckload of problems with quality control, customization, sourcing components and shipping. Trying to get some insight as to how other companies have overcome these problems in the past. Do we reduce our product line but offer more options to help reduce the "customization"? How do you hold key essential employees accountable for screw ups? Employees whom without, you'd be swimming upstream in shit creek. How to source components more effectively... how much inventory should one carry? Ideally, none. But when it takes Joe Schmoe's Tooling 8 weeks to make an aluminum chasis... you need to buy a bunch. The only alternative I understand is make it inhouse (not possible at the moment and undesirable in the long run) "Outsource everything except innovation and marketing." I'm looking for books mostly... as alot of this subject matter is best handled by manufacturing engineers/consultants which I don't believe any of us are. |

so you want to run a manufacturing company? I think those methods of running one would depend on what you want to manufacture, or are you just curious as to how they work? I dont know much about all this but ive read up on just about anything so i think its good to implement more than one method because they look at diff aspects like the six sigma is good for quality management etc, the thing about the toyota way is that you get unhappy workers. I think i have an ebook on all this, i just gotta find it, but you can just google alot of books etc...and just buy them. |
