Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

What's a hipster? I collect because I worked an IT job in corporate America making bank out of college, then got laid off with outsourcing to India... Realized I didn't want to work in the corporate world; was the greatest thing to ever happen to me, minus the financial strugle I'm in. |

Madvillain wrote ... NoSkill wrote ... Since coming back from Europe I eventually found a decent job. I sell flooring now. I made $1,700 last week. I don't use my degree and have no intention to. I expect America to shit the bed anyway. The end. I used to think this, still do sometimes, but after seeing countless, upon countless of people's personal information I have come to realize some people in this country have alot of money, people you would see down the street and not expect them too. Makes me wonder sometimes how our country works all in all, I think were ok FOR NOW... Some of my best clients look completely broke. One guy owns a construction company, hes like 80 and drives a 1980s rusted out F250, guy has about 2 million with me alone and I know hes got more elsewhere because hes told me flat out he deals with atleast 3 other advisors. Having money in the bank doesnt make you wealthy though, I have quite a bit in the bank but thats because I don't spend on anything but whats completely required. I'm most certainly not wealthy. Although I'm very forgetful so one of the banks i deal with probably thinks I'm a bum because I keep getting NSF fees from them because I forget to transfer money. lol |

A lot of you really are working in the IT field. I have a BS in CS. Currently doing contract development for decent money, designing and building army simulation systems with an engineer buddy of mine. As far as the original question goes, certs are a good way to get interviews. Once you have an interview though, it's all about just knowing your shit. Specifically the stuff that pertains to the job you are after. |

.4ngryToasters wrote ... I'm a Geek Squad repair technician. I'm going back to school this fall to finish off my bachelors, so it's not for much longer. I'm looking to get into the corporate IT world. You think a A+ cert would increase my chances of getting hired (enough so that it's worth the $150 or whatever they charge to take it)? How about security clearance? You think I should try to go for that before I apply for a job, or whoever hires me would be willing enough to do it? As far as the getting a security clearance, I'm assuming you are meaning govt sec net clearance. That would solely depend on the job you are looking at. If it is a job with a lot of competition, having clearance is a big bonus. My father is a GS12 at PSNS (puget sound naval shipyard) up in Bremerton, Wa and he has told me multiple times that having your clearance is HUGE when looking for sec net jobs.
