Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

This is a "Request For Proposals" on how to revive FTC. Let me go ahead and say that I am not the gatekeeper for how, when, or if FTC starts again. The "Good Break, Yeah?" thread kicked off my interest and my offer of a dedicated server for a new incarnation of FTC, and this is the next step, should the use of what I am offering seem like a reasonable solution to reviving FTC. I will gladly discuss and, most likely acquiesce, to alternate plans of hosting, technical resources, scripting, etc. So, now that that's out of the way...! We need a plan for rounding up players, concentrating administrative/operational personnel and, most importantly, an execution plan on how to do so. More specifically: I need to pass responsibility to a particular person as far as RCON and FTP access is concerned to at least get testing and some familiarity with my hosting setup started, and we (this is not just my decision!) need to trust this person to launch and maintain a new FTC. Saying "so and so will help me, and I'm good friends with this person who's been in FT since forever" is definitely not what I'm looking for. In other words: I don't want a list of references based on who you know. I am suggesting much more weight be placed on interpersonal and organizational skills than your tenure in the community. What I believe we initially need is a person who fills the traditional FTC rolls of "Lead Op" and "Lead Admin." I have already said that my hosting and operational resources are readily available but there seems to be some confusion about "running the server." I'm more than happy to teach some of the operation stuff but this RFP is more for what is more appropriate for "Lead Admin" responsibilities. Otherwise you can leave 90% of the technical details to me. We (the community) need to know the person to whom I am passing RCON and FTP access will be able to assist in bringing the new FTC to fruition and, more importantly, keep up with the day-to-day affairs. You don't need to know how to write scripts, plugins, programs, etc. to "run the server" in the leadership role that FTC needs. More than anything else you need to be available to handle the more... uh, dirty, social details, bans/unbans, hacking disputes, etc. Basically all the crap I'm really bad at handling! Just a reminder: my hosting solution requires zero cash--for all intents and purposes it's free. You don't have to pay to be a leader either... that said, you don't get paid to be a leader either! So let me wind this thing up... The "FTC Roll Call" thread was an excellent idea and also I appreciate the "I'm down, how can I help?" posts on the "Good Break, Yeah?" thread. I know some initial details were laid out in previous threads, and I hate to ask again, but I want see a bunch of (possibly repeated ideas) on how you, the individual poster, plan on taking a personal role in being the "Lead Admin" of FTC. Here are some rough details of what I believe we should look for in a leader: * Several hours of availability per week: not necessarily playing, but reachable via Steam Friends, AIM, etc. * Organizational and interpersonal skills: know how to bullshit with people as well as put them in their place if needed, all to keep things running smoothing in and out of game (forums) of course! * Ability to delegate tasks to subordinates: there will obviously be several junior admins, and sometimes you will need to pass off responsibilities to them. You also need to make sure what you pass off gets done. * Moderate technical prowess for basic troubleshooting of server issues and updating server configuration (historically this rarely happens, or I do it) * Forum activity: this was sorta mentioned above, but you definitely need to check forums every few days, if not daily, to keep up with abuse complaints, hacking issues, admin-to-admin discussion, etc. That's all I can think of for now but feel free to add to the list. Again, FTC needs a leader--a go to guy/gal--who is ready to step up propose how we actualize a new FTC! Who's ready?! |

My plan is pretty much finished on my end, I have sent it to the appropriate people via PM for their opinions, and once we have had a precise discussion, I'm sure we will have a full course plan ready to go that should suit everyone. If you didn't recieve it, PM's aren't working or I just don't care about what you think Edited Thu Sep 18 2008, 07:39AM |

I can say that I am well qualified for every one of your listed items. It's not up to me, it's up to whoever thinks I am good enough for it. |

The only person (no offense Knight) that i can see as the best person for this position, would be NoSkill. If he decides to step up that is. He is the only person by far that ive seen over the months, come up with logical, well thought out ideas on how to deal with every FTC related issue. Hes been right thus far. He shows dedication, maturity, intelligence with problem solving skills, social ability, activity, and most of all, heart. Id vouch for him. I am writing this very late, and i will edit my post tomorrow with some of my previous ideas on how to revive FT. I had a good few I would also like to add, that i will be available if anyone needs any help on anything regarding server issues. Whether it be public, private, or social, im here. Just wanted to get that out there. |

Glitch thanks man but I would like to see what other people think about the overall idea first. I have a few objections to having a "Lead Admin" and also to me being it. First I would just like to remind everyone that in the past there had always been a triumverate of lead admins and one op. Alex is the op, his box, his configs, his scripts, etc. No need for discussion of this. Now the "Lead Admins" well... in the past we had three. A system that served us extremely well for a long time. They were: Omega, Goose & Omni. Omega - relatively inactive in terms of clan proceedings. Goose - lurks the forums but as far as I can tell hasn't posted in probably a month. Omni - probably still active enough... but I have a new suggestion. How about we choose who the admin team is? Not by vote or anything like that but just by general consensus. What are our options? Goose Omega Omni Knightrider Steel Darknarf Yaghta yaghta I mean there's alot of viable candidates but honestly, if I could choose. I would have: Bandito, Knightrider & Glitch as FTC's admin triumverate. Don't worry about me, I'll be around & active & helping promote activity & doing organizational stuff, etc & so forth (See here -[link]- But I like focussing on FT as a whole to be honest... FTC needs it's own attention & people who want to give it that attention. But again... I'd like to see Bandito's ideas & anyone elses for that matter. Thanks for reading. Common man Boot it up and lets get dis partah started!!! Scribble me in, i'll log everyday till the place is back to its norm. Which is what i was doing right before the last ftc shut down, I was on at least 4-5 hours a day for like a week strait, then it went down ;(. Imo, the longer we're down. The less non webvisiting regulars we'll get back. So i suggest we get this ball moving. Even if its a slow moving start. With only 1-2 admins.. Its all you really need.. In my experience our players were good at votekicks, and votebans if they thought someone was being disruptive, or making the game unfair. So i really don't see admins being a "big" issue when it comes to the server. 1-2 admins is enough imo. Its different on surf, where all the non regulars are tards. Thats why i've always kept so many admins handy. |

Personally i like the idea of having more than 1-2 admins simply because i think that it would be best that for the majority of the time there is an admin on. Now i'm not saying that all admins deserve the same responsibilities or roles but its good to always have someone with a higher power around. Yes ftc was good for votekick/banning people but i think it would be best to have several admins. I am personally willing to do anything i can to help i hopped on the server a couple days ago and was just dinkin around but i'm really interested in, like narf said, getting the ball rolling. If anyone is ever on and needs help populating or with anything please don't hesitate to ask. steam acct: _scubasteve_ acct name: [FT]{F7L5}PeacebyPiece Edited Thu Sep 18 2008, 05:03PM |

a general consensus of why people stopped coming to office was the fact that admins would abuse and misuse power. considering that i can say that honestly ima straight laced guy who only has the well being of FTC in mind i would apply for the position but can't at the moment. Overall, all i am asking is to pick a person who is smart, someone who will make right decisions based on knowledge about the game, and someone who is mature and leaves personal reasons out of decision making. For these reasons i would pick DarkNarf to be a lead. There were qualities that Goose, Fetus, Omni, n Omega displayed that made FTc as good as it was in the past that needs show up again in order to make this work Edited Thu Sep 18 2008, 04:50PM |

Alright you guys are getting off topic & a little tyrannical. Let's try to reel this back into reality and away from a "I WANT TO BE LEADER ME ME ME!!!" shouting contest. Alcosatz wrote ... * Several hours of availability per week: not necessarily playing, but reachable via Steam Friends, AIM, etc. CLAN activity, not just in the server or on the forums either, but overall interpersonal, cross server, Vent, Steam, etc. Also, long running activity, should be considered more highly than resent or immediate activity. Trust me in my reccomendation. Glitch, Bandito & Knightrider should be the new triumverate of lead admins. All old admins (as long as they're active) should keep admin as well but only those 3 people display all of the qualities needed, and have done so continuously for more than a year. But Omega, no, you had your chance, you also wanted nothing to do with our first attempt at a revival. Your focus is on CAL and things outside of FT. Which is perfectly fine and good, but unbefitting of a FTC lead admin position. Darknarf, Surf is yours. Stick with that. Trust me in my reccomendation. You won't be dissapointed.
