Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

In light of the recent interest and discussion of an FTC revival, this essay will highlight what we need to do to have the server successfully running by the middle of October, 2008. The steps we must take require determining the active administrative team; having that team of dedicated Fish Tankers discuss the leadership positions for the new FTC; aid Alcosatz in setting up the server; have the official vote to bring the server into the Fish Tank Community; and finally, the launching of the server. I will highlight, in depth, exactly how to get this server started and back to the prodigious greatness it once held. The first action we must take is determining who is available and who still wishes to be an administrator on the server. Bandito, NoSkill, Memnoch, Alcosatz, Omni, Omega, Five Dollar, Cha, Mad Villain, Knightrider, Goose, YourDroid and Glitch are the active admin team to my knowledge. I think that this group should be in charge of the decisions and discussions for several reasons. One, this group has proven themselves as mature, responsible members with a lasting dedication to FTC; Two, they are respected members of the Fish Tank community; and three, they are the current, past, and deserving leaders of FTC. The fact that the community can unite around these people allows for us to transition to the new leadership of Fish Tank Classic smoothly and easily. Also, I think that some friendly new faces on the admin squad would promote regulars, new and old, to be more involved in the community. If we are to update the Admin Roster, I would suggest that members like Zero, Skittles, and Kirby have their dedication acknowledged; while M.I.A. members like Vincent Vega, Mugen, and Aborted Fetus have theirs revoked. It is a dearth on the significance of administrative powers when M.I.A. members log for the first time in a year and have clear power over new members and regulars. It illustrates disorganization and an almost monarchial state, which regulars looking to join the clan will not be appreciate. For all these reasons, it is immeasurably necessary to have an updated, refined, and meticulously-inspected Administrative Roster. This brings us to part two of my plan, the new leaders of FTC. As we know, the “Lead Admins” are responsible for aiding the Server Operator, regulating control of members and lower-ranked administrators, being present in the forums, and swiftly laying justice on those who disobey our rules. The second part of my plan requires a shift in power among these administrators. In the past, the LA’s were Omni, Omega, and Bubble Goose, with Alcosatz as Operator. I would like to keep to this tradition. This system has worked in the past, and I think it is the system we should continue to follow. However, I feel that three names should be new. Omega has interests and ties to other things that detract his attention from FTC, something that we cannot have of an LA in the early stages of revival. Bubble Goose, while most definitely qualified, appears to have "Gone Missing" from the Fish Tank Community for now. He will still have a spot in this discussion if he desires, and I think he should still have basic administrator status in the new server. Omni has been a supportive, important, and respected member of FTC. Their time has moved on, though. It is a new age in Fish Tank. What we need now is a completely revamped triumvirate Lead Administrator group, as NoSkill has suggested in the ongoing discussion of the Revival. It is up to the current Administrative Team to decide which three will take the role of Lead Administrator. This role cannot be taken lightly. It is more than a title. We have seen in the past what can happen when LA’s fail to perform their duties. If you are interested in this position, I suggest you be willing to deal with donations, terminations (even of friends – if their actions are detrimental to the server or community), and punishments with a mature and responsible attitude. This position will put the Community and Server’s well-being ahead of your own, and I cannot stress that enough. Once three people are decided, we will be able to prep the server for launch. Alcosatz has informed me that the server is almost completely set up. I quote him in saying, “The server is basically setup for testing now. No MOTD or Fish Tank branding, but it's essentially the configuration for the old FTC.” From this discussion, it seems that the server is almost operational, but Alcosatz would appreciate a report from people who are willing to try out the server. He needs us to check that everything is working and nothing appears dysfunctional. Please log on to the server at 64.83.52.226 and help us so that the kinks can be worked out and the server can be ready to launch. Once the server is successfully tested and launched, the only step is to nominate it into the FT community, which should prove effortless. Following that, we profit with great times and memories. Additionally, I think we need to establish a few ideas to keep interest in the server up and attract regulars. NoSkill came up with a damned good idea earlier. Every Tuesday will be “FTC Night”. My suggestion for this is that everyone logs on at 8:00 EST and we all just play and have fun. It will be a good way to start out the week, and if we can get ourselves populated like that once a week with a solid member base, the rest of the week will have activity. Also, I want to promote FTC’s return among our old regulars and some members who have either left us or don’t visit the forums (Like TruEagle and YourDroid). If we can let people like them know of FTC’s return even a few days ahead of time, we can truly create excitement among our dedicated population base. The excitement of this return is spreading. I’ve gotten the chance to talk to a lot of our old regulars in the last two weeks. Most of them were unable to play this summer, but now that school is back in session they are ready to go. I’m talking about RecklessOne, Eliminator, Irish Ninja, and many more. Our base population is back and we need to give them what they want: Fish Tank Classic. If we succeed in finding a new admin team, a new lead admin team, finalizing the server problems, and maintaining population, FTC will flourish. This idea seems very popular, based on the many discussions people are having. Everyone wants FTC back, and if we follow this plan, we’ll succeed. Get yourselves ready everyone, FTC is coming back. Edit: I didn't add YourDroid to the active admin list because I thought he had resigned. He wasn't on the roster anymore, so I figured he was gone. However, he was nominated by Wave and it passed, but he was not officially added to the roster. He is a long standing admin and most definitely should be involved in this discussion. Sorry if you felt left out, Droid. Edited Fri Sep 19 2008, 10:34PM |

This is a very good and thought out plan, Bandito, kudos. I agree that we should have a night where members come on, any day of the week is good. I'll be sure to hop in the server to help for the launch. As for the LA team, I honestly don't care exactly who are the people who are in it, as long as we get the job done in an easy and mature fashion, I'll be happy. |

Very well put together Bandito! I love you! I really do like the idea of completely "revamping" everything. From Lead Admin team to normal admins, to server setitngs, to everything else. The best way to bring back FTC, is to completely start fresh. Out with the old and in with the new. Alex has always been our dearest FTC idol. He says the server is up and we need to test it. I will be there to test it every chance i get. Once the server is running like it used to be, and stable, then the new LA Team should then focus on extras for the server. Things to spice it up. Whether we put plug-ins or just tweak weaponry and shit like that. Next would be to "re-do" the admin list. Rid the list of people who are inactive and has had past problems, and keep the people who have shown dedication to the community as a whole. If others wish to get admin back, they must do like everyone else, and prove they deserve it. LA Team should also set up a MoTD by discussing among themselves what should go there. LA Team should then set a launch date, set up the vote to bring it into the FT community, and kickstart FTC by inviting members and old regs alike. I have a good feeling about this. Its going to work. Good job Bandito. You put hard work into that well written organized essay plan thingy. Its people like you who deserve an LA spot. |

solid plan. My quote in your sig flows nicely with the mood of your post. I completely agree with your point that some people have admin who log in once a month for 30 minutes and that should be looked at. Let's get a core admin group and if there is need to expand it we expand it. We don't need everyone to have it, but it would be nice to be in a place where there's at least one admin on the server during peak hours. And even if I'm not on the server, I'm always willing to pop on for a few minutes if there is a crisis (I think I speak for all admins when I say this -- it's basically a requirement anyway).

This is a great post. Bandito, I believe, has a very clear understanding as to what needs to be done for FTC to be wildly successful. I would suggest that the people who care the most converse with each other via pm, forum or Steam to iron out ANY potential issues, objections or concerns. Solve the problems before they become problems. But overall this is a sound, well thought out but most importantly an EXECUTABLE plan. I think it was Patton who said "A good plan executed now is always better than a perfect plan executed later." And this is a good plan. But again if anyone has any concerns, please voice them. Because if this is run with & a month down the road you come in all bitching & moaning about something that could have been taken care of now "Don't fucking make so & so an admin!!?!!?! He's a fucking dick!!!" "WTF THIS SERVER LAGS!!!" OR in anyway undermine the hard work & dedication being presented before you... well let's just say I can get pretty creative in eliminating problems. So critique the plan. Test the server. Voice your opinions. Identify any problems (& solutions if you can). Support your clanmates. I like this... I like where this is going. Good work guys. |

I know I don't play office, but I have a few feelings. As much as I think you guys had some iff admins that could kill fun on the server, I still think that the idea of a 24/7 hostage rescue map was another part of people leaving. I've seen this server running longer than anyone who has posted before me, and I remember days where 24 hours a day, you couldn't get into office because it was always full. I think you need to really have omni and AP come in here and tell you guys what was so different then than was when the server sunk. There are a few other members left that have been here since the start other than them. Get Krem to test out the server, narf to help, and ask them what they feel is different from the original FTC, since that was probably the best 24/7 office server on steam, when it first went up. that's my two cents. But I do like the plan, it just seems to focus around the leadership aspect, and I think there is a little bit more to it than that. |

I most definitely acknowledge that the admin team needs refreshing, but your suggestion that our "server setitngs (lol sorry, I had to)" need to be changed is off-base. One of the most distinguishing and unique features of FTC is the fact that we are simple in the terms of our settings . If we added a bank mod, or a Knife-leach mod, or added more slots, or anything along those lines, it would diminish everything that made FTC better than the shitty alternatives (I refuse to even call them competition), like TeamSaints or .BAD. FTC thrived for so long BECAUSE of its settings. Any CS:S 24/7 server that lasts for three years has the right formula going, end of story. I've said this before, and I'll say it again... the only reason we failed was because we took almost 20 of our most dedicated FTC'ers, and put them on two competitive teams. That drained nearly all of our population. I recall looking at the server list and seeing 11/21 on Office at 11 P.M. and wishing I could join it instead of playing 4 straight losing scrims. That's it. We failed because of a dedicated group of people (myself included) becoming too addicted to competitive play. I do not mean to bash the competitive teams. But FTC requires dedication... and when 20 people who would help populate the server are busy doing other shit for 4 straight hours, that's going to kill a server. But to get back on topic, settings are fine, Glitch is a total B.A., I want to surf now, and I hope more than 5 people reply to this (not counting myself). |

I would like to retract that saying and delete the server settings part. |

First i'd like to say that i didn't feel left out. Secondly, i do post less in the forums and i read only important looking threads because of times sake, but i do check the forums about once a week. Though i hardly log in unless to post. Then again even when i was "active" i got criticized for being inactive because i hardly ever logged in. I did the bye bye thread because I surely won't be playing CS with any regularity much anytime soon; and with work and school i could inevitably go 3-4 weeks without checking the forums because of a lack of time. Just didn't want to completely vanish for months or so with no warning this time. As for a tuesday night FTC night, while i'd like to help, I'm definitely out of that one regardless of work load. On Tuesdays i'm in class from 1:30pm to 10pm est and that is followed by homework. So no way i could possibly make it. And nice job B4ndito. |

I don't know if I covered all the bases well enough that no one feels required to voice their opinion or what, but there are not enough suggestions here. I want some people to chime in with their thoughts, not just let me have it my way.
