And no, I'm not talking about Amazon's cheap $200 tablet. I'm talking about a Source server. Why a Source server? Because they're cheap as shit, and I'm willing to buy one for a month or two to try and build a player base for our GO server. This is also so I can build a little bit of experience running a server. However, without your interest, I am not going to do shit. I can order the server right now for the nice hefty sum of 20 bucks for 20 slots, set it all up, test some plugins, and arrange a nice day where we all take some time and hop on for a while and spam forum invites to any randomers that happen to come in. This isn't any get together though. This is the laying framework for our revival, and also a testament to show who really cares. Are you all simply hopping on the forums because we told you to or are you really cold and alone at night because you miss our inebriated insulting conversations? I don't want to jump the gun here or anything, but what use is it putting all of our time into trying to get this to work if we don't have enough people wanting it to happen? TL;DR, I will buy a server if I can get enough of you fuckers' support. It's cheap, I can scrap it after a month or two, and it will provide experience for me running a server. It will also see if there is any hope in getting a revival going. Who is with me here? |

From a fuckaround/throwaway-server perspective, it could be used to make sure we can actually put enough FT Classic asses in seats before the CS:GO release date, but I wouldn't get too hung up on any public server aspects of it. It could get very confusing fast if people think we're trying to relaunch FTC as a CS:S server. This would also give us a chance to shake off two years worth of rust. I'm guessing that not many of us have been doing any server admin/op'ing. I certainly haven't. If you're cool with parting with that money for a few months then you've got my support as an operator. Others are certainly welcome to help with the crash course in server operation, too. |
