I'm Irish, I would pass on the dick measuring contest... Anywho, about me, since I've seen my name here. I'm glad to be mentioned, and on Surf I am a decision maker. I can translate that here to the forums as well. But with all things regarding the office server, I'll sit those out. I enjoy hoping on from time to time to show my support, but you have to realize my monetary investment is in the surf server, and keep that populated. Empty peak hours are like watching my money burn in front of me. I am willing to help anyone struggling making decisions, regarding server issues and what not; I've dealt with dick heads of the sort, and proudly can say there has only been one perm ban on surf on my watch since it's been back up. I'd be willing to watch demos if needed second opinions, but tape only shows so much. But to my main point, I'm confused if this involves any real forum issues? We have forum moderators, and they have the moderator status for two reasons. 1. They're around long enough to trust. 2. They are here to lock threads that get out of control, and not be swayed by members whining and moaning, move threads to correct sub forums, and deal with issues arising with all three servers posted on the forums. That last part might be misinterpreted, so let me elaborate: Like in point 1. These moderators have been around long enough to know most of the people who can get shit done with the servers, or know where to go to find that shit out. Surf: message Amped, toast or myself. There will also be an admin listing page going up that is always up to date, with levels listed. GG: Emer I know is the op, not sure the likely admin listing, and others involved, but he can let you know and hopefully make a thread listing contact info for them. Office: This seems to be the big question mark. We know Alex and Mark are the ops, but the leadership role is up in the air. I've seen Bandito hand out a controversial ban and think he did an outstanding job handling the situation, I would assume he is trusted and should be a lead admin over there. Glitch once his life calms down from school is also an amazing guy willing to go out of his way. I see AKs playing ALL THE TIME, literally, I wonder what he does that he can play office so much! Give him an admin role at least (if he doesn't have it), I haven't seen him act power hungry/abusive and he doesn't seem the type. Isn't he Canadian? They don't have that gene. This is the position that, if I've read everything correctly, you and Alex don't want to take because it is the position which takes the most heat and involves the most drama. I imagine that if he'd like to, Glitch could take at least part of the idea of this and make it work, but that might interfere with everyone getting along with him. I don't think people respect me enough to have me fulfill the role. I think I'm out of ideas on this one unless (like I said on the previous position) Rusty wants to step in. Wow, what a wreck this thread has become. I appreciate what you've said, nostie, and I don't want to take a giant shit on you over the content of your post, but let's make it simple: 1. Knightrider pays the bills and ops the office servers 2. alcosatz puts the 'ass' in assistance of running the office servers (still here, mang, please don't replace me!) 3. Lots of people who have generic admin, or would like generic admin, and they do (or would) use it sparingly, with good cause, to promote the justice of mankind in the universe... blah blah blah If you fall into one of the three categories above then I'm not sure that you have much to offer in this thread. |

Uhm, so why do we need a leader? This just sounds like someone is just trying to dump responsibility on someone. We discuss things as a group already, we take everyone one's point of view in consideration, we're all a tight knit group of people that's been around for YEARS. This isn't politics, this is a clan, a family. | ||

Things will be discussed amongst the clan...mainly server suggestions, amendments, regular old bullshit..etc. However, things such as appointing admins for servers, being on/available to lay down the law if need be (essentially being on-call), spending time reviewing demo's of potential hackers that regulars and/or members have recorded - need to be addressed between a specific group of people otherwise nothing will get done efficiently. It is sort of like government... certain branches of government take on certain roles. I know exactly what needs to be done. I will take on one of the responsibility roles. I can be the "face of FT" if people want but as Nostie said, that will just be for PR purposes. I will be available to review demo's and jump into the server to lay down the law. I would also like the responsibility of evaluating and appointing people admin for FTC as well as people to help me with policy's and demo reviewing. Like i said, i have several people in mind that will do great. I wont come out and say who i have in mind...as i would rather contact them privately and ask them first before i publicly call them out. If they are up to the job i will take care of it. I also plan on (very very soon) creating several new stickies in the FT Community forum stating members and their roles and their contact info so people can use that as a reference point as to who to contact for a specific issue. As far as policies go, i will create yet another discussion thread for server rules and actual FTC regulations so that every member can add their opinions. In terms of ban policies, i will discuss that amongst people i appoint to help me review them and then publicly state the correct ban procedure for other admins. I got this. |

I agree with Maddogme, this is more of a family... hence why we all came back home. But I understand that we need people to run things, otherwise we get nowhere. However this isn't to dump responsibility on someone(s). It's to ensure our survival and keep a general guideline to our community. As for those three roles previously posted: The face: I'd like to see Glitch amongst others, everyone loves him and nobody has problems with him(that I've seen). However there are many others I can see being suited quite well for this "job". The techs: We have a ton of people, including myself that are working in IT. Many of us would be able to do this and/or help with the maintenance of the server(s) with a little studying. For instance, I basically know nothing on these servers, but you guys do. You can pass the information down, give us a little training and even without, we can research the information needed. I'm sure some of us can assist. The decision maker: I'm not sure about this. I feel like if one person has to make the decisions, they would be taking a lot of heat from clan members, regulars and newcomers. Some people will side, some people won't. People will start siding most likely, so maybe keeping these decisions to a vote would be most proper. |

We have a couple people already stepping forward to take administrative rolls and moderators. They together could be just a team, they can have their own sub forum where they discuss reports, demos, so on an so forth. |

One thing I would like to mention is I think a solid group would be better than Just unloading everything on Glitch. I remember old server issues would be discussed between Alex, Omni, and Goose and I always took a little satisfaction knowing that decisions were made taking in 3 different perspectives instead of only one, even if I didn't necessarily agree with the decision. just my 2 cents really |

I'm with Madvillain, I think glitch would make a great figure head however I like the idea of a council of sorts. What I think would be happening anyway is that glitch would probably be asking for advice quite often from the more experienced "Leaders" like Alcosatz so I'm still very comfortable with it. I think what we need is a mandate and mission statement. Nothing long, just something by glitch pointing out how he would go about doing things to set everyones minds at ease. Although I do have a few incriminating conversations about glitch wanting to strip the FT constitution...  lol. Thats an inside joke btw...

Again I ask, is this the future of fish tank, or the future of the office server? Not sure I understand. I see a lot of post relating to office, and it's like gg and surf aren't as major a part of ft if this is about the clan and not server. Someone clarify please. |
