Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Alright guys, here is another update on where we're at with the FT Classic GO server. Please familiarize yourself with the details from the last update: -[link]- It was brought to my attention that the public CS:GO beta should be right around the corner. That was last week, so I'm already pissed that it hasn't happened yet. We need people to test the new server but we only have a small amount of people with beta keys (and the people who have them aren't really providing any info....) Despite the lack of testing with humans, my bot army has been very faithful in testing plugins! FFK The FFK/ffkarma plugin got a neat little update today: it now aggregates FFK scores by IP if multiple SteamIDs have connected from the same IP. This was inspired by the special friend that I met here: -[link]- He's my worst nightmare? Puh-lease... my SourceMod programming skills are that kid's worst nightmare. Moving on... I think the FFK plugin may be compatible with the Source office server but I don't want to get too far into that. Sexual favors may be traded if you really want to see it implemented on Source. My primary goal (and the point of this thread) is GO. Grenade Buy Limit This was a quick plugin that I wrote this weekend to prevent grenade spam. I saw some folks posting about this in a related office thread, and you inspired me to write something that was based on the Weapon Bans (a/k/a "Arms Embargo") plugin that I mentioned in the 8/1 update post. There are plugins out there that already claim to handle this but, like I've discovered with some FF/TK plugins, they just crash GO servers. Much better to write our own plugins which don't crash GO servers. The plugin that I wrote is pretty simple: it prevents you from buying more than one of each grenade type per round. I'd like to see someone try to bypass it (as well as the "Arms Embargo" plugin) as soon as more people can actually do testing. AFK Manager This is a plugin (not written by me but it works!) that we used waaaaay back in 2007/2008 on FT Classic. It has apparently been updated and even seems to work on GO servers and not just Source, which is the platform for which is was originally written. Depending on configuration settings, it moves AFK players to spec, and then eventually kicks them if they are not admins / have reserved admin flag. Seems legit to me but, like other stuff, it needs more testing than just me. Other Shit Not much else aside from a few trivial bugfixes to cTB, and the addition of a SourceMod admin inquiry tool that most of you will never see... Speaking of SourceMod, I'm going to make another post asking for some comments about your experiences with SM as an admin tool. I recall a few FT ops/admins have taken mighty shits on SM, which I will agree with to a certain extent. More details elsewhere. All this other bullshit aside, I think we're still in good shape to have a decent GO server by August 21. I can't say I'm entirely proud of this, but I put in some vacation time for that week, so I won't let pesky details like employment get in the way. Feedback is welcome on this thread--thanks! EDIT: fixed an incorrect link! Edited Tue Aug 07 2012, 08:27PM |

Is the idea to change the office server to CS:GO after release, or is the CS:GO going to be a new server? I like the plug ins rules you described . |

CS:GO at this point is considered just to be a new server, but in the long run it will most likely be what is "replacing" the Source server. At this point, we will have a GO server that will make our server unique because they're Alex's plugins and not the same plugins everyone else uses (except for admin.) The game is new, and a chunk of Source's playerbase, rather large at that, will be transitioning over. I can't say that our Source server will be around for too much longer. I will foot the bill for a couple of months but this is heavily reliant on connection count. |

I have a feeling that custom plugins will separate servers from match making. I am a Senior Computer Science student, and can probably hack up some plug-ins if the need arises. |

The plugins are not intrusive, and Valve simply isn't smart enough to separate servers based on plugin variations. Hell, they can't even figure out a way to keep finding servers simplified or to even hide the fact that they've sold out as a company. While fat, lazy 13-year old preteens may use matchmaking, the general public who aren't afraid to click a few options to get to dedicated servers will find our office hovering in the mix. Nonetheless, if everyone plays the beta in the next week like they say they are, our server will be noticed, favorited, and all will be well. FYI, Alex pisses in Debian and shits out Sourcemod in his sleep, so while I thank you for your offer, I do not think there is anything that this guy can't handle. |

Debian is legit, it makes managing Linux much simpler and I use it for a day-to-day OS, but I built the last Linux server I ran from source code out of Tin-Foil hat level paranoia about security. It adds a level of customization and security auditing a distribution cannot top. |
