Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I know a lot of you have mentioned that you want to see alltalk enabled and, as far as I know, I am the biggest roadblock to that happening. Knightrider turned alltalk on in the (now defunct) FT Classic Source server, but I intentionally did not turn it on on the GO server. Instead, I turned the "deadtalk" feature of SourceMod on, which allows dead players from both teams to voice chat with each other. This is how the old FT Classic ran for years (at least 2007-2008). I can't recall ever having alltalk enabled when I ran FTC from 2005-2008, but I may be mistaken. Having said that, I'm OK with turning it on. But before we consider doing that, I would like to know why it's important. I would also like to bring up a suggestion that nostie mentioned elsewhere: have alltalk enabled only during low player count. I've done one too many long posts tonight, so I'll keep this one relatively short. Here are your options for an informal vote: 1. Leave alltalk off 2. Turn alltalk on 3. Find or write a plugin that will enable it when player count is low 4. Something I haven't thought of: you provide details! I think you know where I stand on this, but I want to hear your opinions. Please keep in mind that if I didn't truly value what you have to say then I wouldn't ask. |

I'm for either alltalk ON or alltalk ON with low player count. I'm not sure which I prefer, honestly. I used to be in favor of alltalk OFF, but I think that it leads to less fun being had all around, especially with cTB switches happening somewhat frequently. |

I'm for turning alltalk on. It just seems that the server right now is very impersonal. Alltalk with a low player count could be interesting but I could see it getting annoying if you are talking and having a good time with a few people then more people get on and you can't talk anymore, not that more people getting on is a bad thing I just could see that as a possible issue. Could we possibly do like a trial period to see how it goes with it on/on with low players? | ||

peacebypeice wrote ... This, but it may not be worth the time investment to write a script for alltalk with a low player count until everyone has made a final decision. Maybe try alltalk on for a week and see how it goes, and then have a vote.Could we possibly do like a trial period to see how it goes with it on/on with low players? Edited Tue Aug 28 2012, 03:27AM |

There isn't any metric that I can think of that will gauge whether it's an improvement or not. I would argue that the FT Classic that I know, with the short two month exception of the last Source server, has run just fine without alltalk. I suppose the pro alltalk people are saying that the server can be so much more if it were less impersonal. Not trying to fuck with you guys too much, but would it be less impersonal if we did something other than office? Maybe turn FF off? That's not fair, I know, but I'm curious just how progressive you guys are. Either way, I want to hear more opinions! |

Im gonna go a little out there with this one...but i remember someone mentioning the only problem to alltalk was that when too many people talk at once it gets too crazy. There are other problems sure, but this was a major one that even i got annoyed at. Sometimes 6-8 people would try and talk at the same time and it just gave my ears a meltdown. Is it possible to write a script that turns alltalk on but limits the amount of simultaneous mic's to let's say four? Just an idea. Other than that, most people know my opinions towards this. I was always a fan of alltalk since FT was always the crazy community and everyone got that community feel when we were able to just talk to everyone else. When i play...even when there are like 16 people in the server...it just feels less "connected" than it was with Source with alltalk enabled. Other than my idea...i am in favor of option 2. |

I'm not sure what your end goal is, but looking at this after a potential switch could be telling: Obviously there are other factors besides alltalk, but I say it's worth it to experiment and see what happens. The change isn't too drastic, in my opinion. Edited Tue Aug 28 2012, 04:32AM |

I don't have much fun on the server without all talk. I don't play because it's a good game. I play because it's good company. I want to talk to that company. |
