Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I'm going to pretend that the subject of this post is relevant. Here are four things that I want to discuss which may improve player count on FT Classic: 1. Advertising - Admins have done a swell job from what I can tell (daily log reports on admin activity), but we could use some passive advertising during the times when no admins are present. There are SourceMod plugins for this, but I wouldn't mind setting aside a few hours to write one on my own (because I think the stuff that other people write is crap). Either way, we need to drive more traffic to the site so that we can establish more regulars. 2. Minimum Player Count for Matchmaking - According to something said on the Valve CS:GO mailing list, the client CVAR "mm_csgo_community_search_players_min," which defaults to 3, determines whether CS:GO players who choose Community Quick-Play may join our server when they choose Community Quick-Play. That's it. Server tags, plugins, etc don't mean shit. Obviously our server empties out at certain times, but if we can set a goal of having at least THREE people connected in the late afternoon and evening hours then it means we get random Quick-Play traffic. 3. Fun Plugins - This is kind of a boner-killer for me because loading up the server with non-essential plugins can affect server performance; however, if someone can find any SourceMod plugins that are compatible with GO then I wouldn't mind testing them out in my spare time. Please read the previous statement very closely! Hint: compatible with GO. 4. Unclassic The Classic - Does anyone think that some of the server settings like enabling FF, banning AWPs, autosnipers, etc. is killing us? I hate discussing this, because it broke my heart to disable cTB, but maybe we're driving away more potential regulars than what we're gaining (which doesn't seem to be much) with the current setup. Thoughts? |

1) I agree. I saw a plugin out there, and by out there I mean somewhere here: -[link]- Even more specifically here; -[link]- It seems to be the same as the good ol' server adverts we had on Source. I always liked this subtle advertisement that doesn't ram a cock up a user's ass. Sorry for the subtle imagery. 2) I can usually be on at 10 PM Eastern time, or early mornings. I can't really commit to helping you during prime hours as personally I will be busy 3) I argue: stay away from these. I find that these gimmicks tend to drive away more people than they bring in outside of server related performence issues. I think more people are looking for what they know, and a good office server from source is one without AWPs and is stripped down. I assume you didn't mean stuff like RPG plugins because that is the cancer of CSS. 4) I personally do not like FF being on. I don't play CS for realism, and I think there are many like me who find FF frustrating, especially when you play against people who don't check their radar and shoot you when you come running around a corner. Sometimes it makes little difference but sometimes you have 18 HP remaining... that said I wouldn't mind seeing FF go, and I think it might make the sessions more enjoyable for everyone by minimizing the room for teammates to (accidentally) fuck you in the ass with their throbbing dick. That's the last time I use that analogy i swear. I say keep AWPs/autosnipers banned. Most servers do this and I don't think the issue is too polarizing. That's all I have to say about that. I had no idea how that worked. Pretty cool. I will look for some lightweight fun plug-ins. Something like a bet mod or some...wait for it.... quake sounds (you know me). FF has been a pain for a few people but many like it. I prefer it but if disabling it brings in more traffic then im all for it. Also, keep awp/autosniper banned. Every time someone brings it up, they always seem to like it and nobody ever complained about it on the server. You will end up with AWP whores who will clear out a server like i do with a scout. Worse case scenario we can do what SuddenDeath on CSS does. Limit AWP to one person per team. Always keep autosniper banned. It is such a cheap gun. |

Thanks for the replies, bleek and glitch. I'm going to hold off on making any changes until I see more activity on the server. It's not much fun working on the server when there is no one there to appreciate it.

The majority of other servers I've played on have AWPs enabled and FF off. On a condensed map like Office it seems logical to have a restriction on AWPs. As for the FF, it adds another layer of realism and strategy that I would hate to see go away. These are some of the elements that attracted me the FTC server in the first place. It would break my heart to see FF off and AWPs enabled. Edited Tue Sep 18 2012, 06:29AM
