Though i have no opinion on this, should being an operator, and having a very long history in FT have anything to do with this? breaking the [admin] rules is breaking the rules, isn't it? NEVERMIND -- Sorry alex, i misread what you said. (i missed that you said he shouldn't not have accountability) And personally, i agree that respect should be very high for long time-members of FT Edited Sun Dec 10 2006, 07:17AM |

Kalibur wrote ... BuBBLe GooSe wrote ... Thanks for bringing these instances to the forefront Oh but now your wrong as well goose he should have never brought this to the forums (yet) he should have talked to omni again vie xfire, pm or email....Now if you still were having problems and you think you are being abused then bring it to the forums cause that is that last place you have to deal with this. Notice that the title of the thread is "Wondering if i'm wrong" and note that the initial post didn't mention the admin in question's name. I think that under the current format, Dripster did what he thought he needed to and was courteous in his approach. I still think that it is better to resolve issues that require discussion in the forums as opposed to in-game. If the matter is a personal one, then a PM is a viable first step toward ironing things out. Drippy was probably under the impression that this was more of a general abuse thing and might have thought that these events might have been an ongoing thing and listed 3 instances, so perhaps he felt justified in having input from others in resolving the matter. Kalibur wrote ... BuBBLe GooSe wrote ... If the admin in question is same as the admin I'm thinking of, then its not surprising, as many might agree... NO, when reading this thread it was the first time I ever knew of a problem and I find it very surprising because I don’t think Omni is in the wrong. I was 99% sure I knew who the admin was. Looks like I was wrong. I didn't think that Omni was the admin that was being referred to. I was the first reply and my inclination was to assume that the admin in question was,,, (doesn't matter anymore) Kalibur wrote ... Again NO I don’t agree at all this should have never been brought to the forums... NOTE: Don't go to forums to ask for clarification about anything, don't report instances of percieved admin abuse. Kali, abuse was the norm on GunGame, its not Kosher on FTC and if someone (especially a fellow clan member) feels justified in 'publically calling out an admin', then as long as there is sufficient arguments and evidence to back up the claim, then there shouldn't really be a problem. Kalibur wrote ... Ol_Drippy wrote ... And i i'll go tell omni. This should have been done way before you ever made this post!!! You should have sent Omni a message saying something like this... Again, the title of the thread is "Wondering if i'm wrong" so clearly Drippy was looking to the advise of those who frequent the FTC forum to better understand the situation. Personally, example #1 could have been dealt with differently. There has to be greater understanding throughout FTC admins that the back window area is a 'hot zone' for firefights and nades. T's and CT's throw smoke nades in that general area, and nobody is foolish enough to rush through smoke and having admins 'push' CTs through that area is a sticky dilemma. Nades are exchanged through there all the time and its understandable for CTs to be cautious. Remember, that a full out sprint from the back window to a pair of hosties can be done in well under 10 seconds, so some understanding is key. Its not like CT sniper nest, snowman, front office, garage camping that is on the other side of where the hosties are. Again, a "@ Get the hosties CT's" or a "@@@ Hosties" should do the trick followed by a "ma_explode" or a slap for 0hp. The example of the box camp is interesting. It really depends on many factors. Camping in CT spawn is never good and seldom acceptable, but if the situation is such that the T's are all rushing the garage quickly and make it into the garage in 15-20 seconds before a firefight errupts, then the rule states that 20 seconds of camping is permissible and if one chooses to use those 20 secs behind a box awaiting the rush, then as long as the CT engages into a firefight, it should be understandable. From personal experience, I'll choose to use my 20 secs in the CT sniper nest with a scout trying to pick off Ts rushing garage then get a move toward hosties.(Most of the time, I'll hop throgh the window, but occasionally I'll go through garage). If Drippy uses his 20 to wait for the rush, then that's up to him and the circumstances. The circumstances would very well be that the CT's are disorganized, the T's are rushing garage quickly and successfully, the CT's are poor and the T garage rush is an immanent probability. Again, Drippy is a FTC regular and played on the server long before joining FT. I'm sure that he knows the rules and should be given the benefit of the doubt with a green text. Personally, I don't recall a time in recent memory when I have had to punish a FT or a regular. It seldom happens. Green text is all that is needed for FT/regs. In those regards, it was sorta disrespectful, especially because the camping infraction was 'minor' in relation to other punishable offenses and given the circumstances. The third issue was, well just mean. It took a kill away from the CT and again, slaying a FT who didn't do anything wrong just makes everyone look bad in front of other players. The prospects of survival is not up to admins to determine. Any noob with 1hp can topple a good player with a lucky HS or whatever. It's not the admin's position to determine the outcome of a round. I've said probably more than I needed to here, but whatever. I know that Omni has been around FTC forever and he is well liked and respected. I like playing with Omni when he isn't busy with dstR. and he stops by office, he's a good guy eventhough many admins would have handled those situations differently, getting some discussion out there is not a bad thing. A few people have voiced that Omni is loyal to Fish Tank Classic and yeah, I don't recall any instances in the past to show that he broke any server rules and he knows his way around server configurations and such and that is why he an operator. (I don't think that there is a rule on FTC for 'no recruiting for other clans', but it still doesn't look good when an operator tries recruiting an FT to come over to dstR.) I personally just don't see why FT admins should punish non-admin FTs because it is rarely if ever called for because its understood that FTs should at least know the server rules. Is this topic over yet? |

I spent the better half of Sunday working on a response to this thread while watching football and, based on how my favored teams played, the results were not polite. Not specifically to Drippy but to everyone. Since this thread is winding down I would like to contribute a more positive post and not drop a shitbomb as I had planned. So... let me apologize to Drippy by saying that I was overly defensive of Omni (as well as someone else ). That said, Omni did an adequate job, in my opinion, of explaining the justification for his actions. Goose summed most of the rational commentary in his (overly long) post. The original issue that Drippy brought to forums exposes a lack of communication between admins and regulars and especially FT regular members. Given slightly different circumstances I would wholeheartedly support Omni's decisions but I perceive his lack of warning prior to admin intervention as the most prominent reason for this issue. I am by no means stating that Omni fucked up. Exaggerated admin decisions are increasingly becoming the norm on FTC and we've got to turn this around. I pressure admins to assertively resolve issues to keep the game moving when it comes to most topics and I exert the most pressure on high-level admins (Omni being one of them). If there is anyone to blame for this type of environment then it is definitely me. I will be the first to tell you that I set a bad example of just choosing a course of action and sticking to it no matter how much trouble it causes later. Obviously admins are going to be stubborn at times but we (as admins) tend to quickly escalate the resolution of a problem as being slay or ban-worthy. It is also worth pointing out that players could be a bit less stubborn themselves... saying "fuck you, I'm not breaking rules" or "fuck off, I can do whatever I want" doesn't help matters. (***NOTE: these are not Drippy quotes. I am only paraphrasing what I here most times I tell someone not to CT camp). Avoiding instant slay/kick/ban resolutions for perceived issues involving regulars and FT members is key. Admins tend to feel that our reg's and members shoud "know better," but we owe them the benefit of doubt that they are not intentionally trying to cause problems. An effort needs to be made, if only for the sake of clan/community cohesion, to defuse potentially disastrous situations like this thread. On a parting note, communication is important but if a widely understood definition of "camping" (and many other justifications for punishment) are not understood then problems like this will continue. I've been working on this thread: -[link]- ...let's see if we can build on positive conclusions from this thread on the link above. Thanks for reading and I apologize to Drippy for being overly defensive about Omni. |

a few final comments. sorry it has taken me so long to respond. pocky wrote ... It would seem the one that was wasting time was the CT since you said there were seconds left in the round and they hadn't even gotten to the hostages. On top of that he wasn't even guarding them making it very easy for anyone to get them. I think that you should have slayed the ct for not meeting his objectives not the T that was doing a crazy plan to attempt to win. The CT was not straying from the objective. in fact he had just killed the last Ts in the office. he was cautiously making his way to the hostages. but being there was 1 more Ts lurking somewhere on the map he did not want to blindly run around as if he was beaconed. bubble wrote ... ...I like playing with Omni when he isn't busy with dstR....(I don't think that there is a rule on FTC for 'no recruiting for other clans', but it still doesn't look good when an operator tries recruiting an FT to come over to dstR.) goose you are right. i dont recall the exact instance when i tried to recruit an [FT] member but i am sorry anyways. there should be a seperation between the two clans; i must have crossed it. however i am no longer a part of de_stpRtion. i was, and will always reamain, loyal to FTC and [FT]. i appreciate your concern. lastly; drippy wrote ... I have read all, and i see that i did mess up on many things, i apologize to everyone, especially omni. But like bubble said. i just did what i thought was right, apparently it wasn't. Once again I apologize. you are not wrong. we seemed to have mis-interpreted each other('s actions). i have no personal problem with you and would like to get to know you further. i hope you don't hold a grudge or anything also user concern, as in a post like this, is important to maintain a healthy community with active members. thank you all for participating. see you in FTC!! |

i luv all you guys.. u all treat eachother very nice and shit but to make a huge forum post on a small issue is insane. look im not flaming anyone here, i just feel its only a game. In one scenario i remember being the only CT left and i was by long hall. there were like 4-5 T's left and i was taking my time. Green admin letter came across my screen and said move it and yada yada with the NO CT CAMPING. sd i rushed in and died. NO BIGGIE! the next round started and we all kept playing. idc what admin does what to me. I am playign in thier server for no cost and no donation. I play by there rules and what they say goes. The only "bad admin" call would be an admin that is constantly slaying ppl for no specific reason or is giving away positions, making ppl ticking time bombs and beacons. Other then that i feel everyone should just remember this is a game and we are here to have fun. Lataz |

gLiTch, I think we can all agree that we play to have fun and sometimes ironing out these issues on forums allows for the exchange of ideas in hopes to make in-game play more pleasant for clan members, admins, regs, and passers by. The goal is to have a populated server with everyone having fun. Sometimes ironing out the creases is necessary and heck, everyone has a different point of view and wants to have some input so I think that is what sets our community and servers apart from others. Of course we have all seen admins on other servers punish and ban unnecessarily and thought to ourselves, 'what an ass, I'm not playing here anymore', so this is why we go to great lengths to ensure that admins are on the same page when it comes to enforcing rules in hopes that we can gather more ragulars, worthy clan members and admins, all of which are fun to play with and an over all positive for the servers. But yeah, forums are a great place to voice concers, post funny stuff, post interesting stuff and its an extension of in-game play where text space is limited. These forums are pretty liberal in the sense that you can discuss whatever is on your mind and its a great source of laughs as well as information on a variety of topics. Eventhough the issue may appear to be small, the ramifications on in game play and server population could be much larger. Praise Jah, Peace in the Middle East, What it do. |
