WOW. Guys I have to say now that I hear the opposing side i actually agree with you guys. I guess i got to used to always having money. And it is not helping me progress with my skills. I STILL GET OWNED LOL. So i retract my previous statement and look forward to not having money. | ||

Good topic, Five. I've thought about using scripts that give cash to a team after they lose $x rounds in a row. It would certainly lighten the load of admins, and they could focus on swapping people to balance teams. As Goose pointed out, the whole point of giving cash is to balance the teams. I get extremely annoyed when people on the winning team ask for cash, and I am also equally annoyed when admins give cash to #ALL instead of the losing team. It indicates to me that some players, and even admins, are missing the whole point of giving cash -- it's supposed to be used for team balance and nothing more. I played on Monday night and gave cash to the losing team a few times. I don't believe I ever gave cash to the team I was on (even when we were getting our asses handed to us), but I think one of the other admins did give the team I was on a few times. Betting is back, but unfortunately the script fucks up every so often and either gives you too much money or takes away all your money even when you win the bet... that's a different story, but the point is that I was able to sustain myself, .7 KDR and all, completely on smart betting and have +$5,000 nearly every round until I quit. Once I can find a fix for Mani's betting that doesn't cause obscene amounts of end-of-round lag or another mattie script to handle betting then I am considering dropping cash/health privs for L2 admins, advising L3 admins to only use cash/health in dire circumstances of inbalanced teams, and put in a script to give cash to the losing team after something like five straight losses. Does this sound prudent? |

I 100% agree. Money is nice to have from the admins. I think we can all agree with that. But like Goose, Alcohol, etc. already said, the losing team should be getting the money if they are getting pwned in game. The next step should be to start moving players. I have noticed that a lot of players will switch automatically or switch if asked to help even the teams. Buying cheaper weapons for a few rounds and saving for better weapons makes the game that much more competitive for the player. It also forces you to establish skill with the lower weapons. I think getting a better script to ensure betting would work great. The whole point of betting is to win money on a round and hopefully get some extra cash in your pocket. I think that a script to give cash to the losing team after something like 5 straight losses would be a great idea. That way the losing team is still getting money and the responsiblity is lifted off of some of your admins. I like your ideas Alcohol.

Yeah that sounds good. 5 straight losses would mean that you need cash. This also would reduce "Can I have money please" from the winning team. I can't stand it when someone asks me that. I still like the idea of swapping people from teams to balance it out, but I guess cash seems to be the only fair way to deal with things. You guys should dedicate yourself one day at least a week to a certain weapon to get better with it. Today, for instance, I had all pistols. Supprisingly enough, I was above 1 kdr ratio and got a few rounds where I had 3 or more kiils with the 5/7. It's because I like to use pistols to get cash sometimes and enough practice with that weapon will make you better. They don't have all of those weapons so you can just sit at them and stare at em. It is your server Alcohol, so you have the power to do so with it as you wish. I don't like the idea of cash to balance teams and I rarely use it unless even the awap fails and the team is still getting raped every round. I strongly urge other admins to use team swapping as a method instead of handing out cash, because explained above is what happens. People ask out for money like it's free. |

ya, money is handed out to easy, i guess im a hypocrite cause i ask admins for money all the time... but sometimes its for us losing 3,4 times in a row.... sometimes is the keyword.... | ||

Alright, after having to hack away at the "Losing Team Handicap" script that comes with EventScripts I was able to get this working on FTC. It gives $8,000 to teams that lose three rounds in a row. I think it works ok and those numbers are decent. It can always be tweaked if needed. The next step will be to remove L2 admins from having setcash/sethealth privs and strongly discourage that L3 admins use this as a means of team balance. I'm not completely sure this is the way to go and I'll hold off for a few days before removing those admin priv's. Feedback is welcome, and thanks again to five dollar for bringing this up. Im with night for once lol i think that the money idea is a little much because like he said you can bet and stab the shit outta ppl to get money its like survival of the best. WHen you first start in css you dont have nothin but a knife, stock pistol and 800.00 dollars and we still play. if you have no money buy kelvar and follow some 1 until you find a gun on the ground or be a man and use what you started with!!!! its not that hard to knife or shoot em up. On the other hand though i kinda like the new mod for the 3 rounds cash. | ||

the new mod is definitely a perfect fix. I also havent seen much admin handing out money except for 2-3 that probably don't even check the forums. | ||

Good to hear, Five, and thanks again for the suggestion. I'm so behind on a lot of things, especially a formal admin policy which I've been neglecting to finish for several weeks. When that comes out sometime soon, the L2 privs will go away for cash/health, and I may have tweaked the script out to make it more useful. I'll keep you all updated when those things happen. |
