*Note* I think we still have the OWNED sound when someone gets knifed... you have to set 'cl_restrict_server_commands 0' to hear it. | ||

Agreed with above. and goose if you're right, that just adds to the reason we should get one. Owned + knife sounds good to me (and the sound isn't big enough for people to stop joining server because of it (and they've probably downloaded the sound from another server anyway, so they won't even see the download screnn)) | ||

But just so you know you CAN turn them off if you'd like, hell, you can even set them to off as default and people can turn them on if they wish. Its just like the deathbeam and damage mods you have, all you do is type "quake" and it'll toggle on or off. I'm not sure how to edit which sounds are used (ie: turning off the headshot sound but leaving killing spree/humiliation etc) but it shouldn't be too hard. Anyhoo, as you said, it's up to whoever runs the server and it IS just a novelty mod. I'll just have to start my own server some day... with quake sounds! and hookers! |

Nostie, what I'm saying is that the 'OWNED' sound is active and has always been active. But since the 'cl_restrict_server_commands' update, you need to set the value to 0 so that the server can play it on the client side. I heard the 'Owned' sound a bunch of times yesterday,,, mostly from taking knives to the forehead.

Just an FYI, the 'owned' sound is a default CS:S sound from collection of bot radio commands. No downloading necessary. | ||

(but by setting cl_restrict_server_commands 0, admins with cexec ability can abuse the snot out of you ;P) NO he means that when you have the mani admin you get automatically the bot and mani sounds the “owned†sound is apart of the bot or mani packet sound So to get the quake sounds you have to install them on the server witch I don’t know if you can make it where you can turn them on or off also FTC is a server were you don’t have to download songs or skins or any of that bs that is what gets us a lot of people if someone joins FTC and see’s they have to sit and dl sounds for 10 mins they will just leave and find another office server |

Abuse complaints are rare,,, very rare. You don't need to use cexec to abuse slaps, slays, drug, blind etc... FTC admins are good peoples and logs show this. There are rules on FTC (Tking, Hacking, Camping, Racism, to name a few) that need enforcing and the admin team is prudent and effective if a need arises to use the mani commands. You are trying to pose the option that if you want to hear the knife sound, then 'admins will abuse the snot out of you'. I think that many players will agree that the FTC Admin base is has done an exceptional job and that you Nostie, are a turd. Meanwhile, with regards to what Nostie posted in the Admin Anarchy forum... nostie wrote ... Admins will rarely use admin, seeing as players are expected to do whatever the fuck they want. I think optional quake sounds (with the chick) would be a good addition. Frankly, people talking on mics also hinders my listening to footsteps. Really all the sounds i'd like to see are the ongoing ones when people are on a streak, and knifes. Headshot is ridiculous and too common. | ||
