I've re-enabled admin skins on FTC after testing out that they actually work this afternoon. This is a trial, and if we don't hear many complaints or see a serious drop in connections then we'll leave the admin skins on. If anyone has any questions or trouble downloading them please let me know. 5/2/06 EDIT: I'm putting the skins on FTC2 as well, and I'll test during lunch today to make sure they're working as well. Awsome, i've never these but it sounds like a good way to distinguish normal players from admins. if the FTA tag is abolished then we will need some way to find out who the admin are The only thing that worries me is - will new players avoid this server becouse of downloadable content? Whenever I run into a server where I have to download a bunch of crap before entering, I say screw this and find another one. As long as it doesn't take long to download it shouldn't be a problem. i would test this out myself but my moms house only has a 56K connection Edited Mon May 01 2006, 05:38PM |

sv_downloadurl is working, so instead of downloading the custom skins directly from the CS:S server you download them from a seperate web server. The download speed isn't capped, as it is without sv_downloadurl. When I tested the downloads today they went pretty quick -- less than 30 seconds to download and install them. I was worried about people disconnecting without waiting for the downloads and it was the initial reason we turned admin skins off as well as custom sounds several months ago. We'll just have to try it and see what happens... EDIT: First signs look good. FTC is 18/20 and I saw this while watching with HLSW: 14:30:04 (CT) =eâ? Templarâ? F= Father CSR : the admin thing is cool 14:30:10 ( T) »â? « movementâ?¢ : the vest? 14:30:12 (CT) =eâ? Templarâ? F= Father CSR : yea 14:30:14 ( T) »â? « movementâ?¢ : yea À?á

The Admin skins are sweet! The DL doesn't take long at all! Its more of a delay while your connecting, no stress. They look good and serve a purpose. Plus, other players seen to like them as well! Big Up, nicely done. Praise Jah. GooSe Out. |

aww come on, I liked the old school giant ERROR admin skins....no excuse for tking then : P great idea, as long as the d/ls dont take too long it should be a problem, i only leave when it starts downloading shit like admin/sounds/ackcrap/beavis or w/e : ) I just hope i dont see more people blowing off my head cuz im admin and leaving....i hate that. | ||

Omni, you get a menu if you're admin that lets you choose a normal skin or the admin skin. LOL, Omega, I remember when that happened last year. Scared the hell out of me the first time I saw the word "ERROR" shooting at me. I may put a custom sound or two back on -- I crave some of the unique ones I had on my old server. We'll make sure the skins down deter people from joining first, though. |
