This is the first (of what I’m sure will be many) threads on the new FTC clan. If you remember, about a month and a half ago, the idea was discussed to create an FTC clan much in the same spirit as the Surf clan. You can check out the first thread about this -[link]- . Also, for the record, before some people make the accusation that this FTC clan is only in response to the DA issues, I would like to direct your attention to the date of the aforementioned thread. That’s right; the FTC clan idea predates the recent DA talk. So, please do not raise arguments like “you’re just doing this to get back at DA blah, blah, blah.†As it was discussed in another thread, the consensus for the clan name has landed on [9²5]. It is felt that the [9²5] tag keeps with the office motif (nine-to-five, obvious office connotation) and works well because it is short. To begin the clan, it is seen as most advantageous to “grandfather-in†all current FTC admins who have a lifetime total hours on FTC totaling at least 200. That is, to be eligible for the “grandfathered-in†status, and thus be a shoo-in into the clan, you must have a total of 200 hours (both as a player and admin) on FTC. Additionally, you must respond indicating that you would like to be considered for “grandfather†status in a thread to be created. Once that thread goes up, you will only have one week to respond. After that, you must go through the process like everyone else. As for everyone else (non-admins, admins with less that 200 hours, etc.), a thread will be created in a new forum with detailed information on how to join. CONSTITUTION: We will use the template from the community clan as a starting point. As with the larger community clan, we can change the constitution as we see fit. As it currently stands: wrote ... 1. Democracy Style, every member counts for 1 vote. 2. 1 Stage, the Voting Stage. You put your vote (Yes or No), and if you have some comments to add, you do that all in 1 post. (No need for approvals/disapprovals, ever) 3. Nomination/Termination/Policy changes : 6 days. Every proposal is for 6 days. After 6 days, the mob has spoken and the decision is final. 4. +3 Yes votes over No votes is the passing margin. Lets have a decisive margin of victory. In order to pass, the yes side has to be +3 the no side, or else it failed. 5. Threads/proposals cannot expire due to going over the specified timelimit, however votes that are placed after the designated time will not be counted. 6. Minimum Requirements... At least 100 hours on FT servers and at least 30 forum posts before someone could be considered. All it means is that 100 hours and 30 posts is the bare minimum to be considered a 'regular'. 7. A membership termination may be proposed if it is felt that this member is in some obvious way unfit to be part of the community clan. This includes, but is not limited to disregard for rules, general disrespect towards other members or regulars, and major abuse of any admin powers (whether in game or on the FT site). Allow a termination proposal after 2 month grace period of forum and game inactivity. Must be proposed by an [FT] member and voted on by all. 8. A member can only have 1 proposal going at a time. The primary responsibility is on the thread starter to count the votes, declare a pass/fail, and close the thread after the specified time. 9. A proposal cannot be made requesting changes to any FT server's operation, admin list, mapcycle, etc... That is beyond the scope of the clan, and server operation is up to server owners and operators. Proposals that do not deal with the clan, its members, or its operation will be declared invalid by the membership, and the thread will be closed accordingly. OTHER THOUGHTS: There shall not be any ranking or hierarchy within the clan structure. We will not have clan leaders or any other ranking structure (lieutenants, corporals etc.) that will elevate any member over another. Everyone will have an equal say. The tag should be “worn†at the end of a player’s handle. This way, we can continue to “wear†our FT tag as well. So, for example, my handle would be [FT] Aborted Fetus [9²5]. I don’t think there should be any requirement to be in the FT clan (though most of us already are). That is, a player wishing to be a member of the FTC clan does not have to already be a member of the FT clan. So, in short, individuals should not have to be a member of the FT clan as a prerequisite to being in the FTC clan. Members of other clans (F7L5) should be allowed to be in the FTC clan. However, because most of us spend the majority of our time on one server, the minimum hour requirement will prevent most surfers from being in the FTC clan. While it sounds harsh, I think that is a good thing. I don’t want someone who spends 450 hours a year on Surf and only 35 hours a year on FTC to be able to get in the FTC clan. Even if it’s a surfer we all know well and love, we should strictly adhere to the minimum hour requirement. Don’t get me wrong, surfers are nice guys and gals, but this is a FTC clan designed for diehard regulars and I don’t want diehard surfers in the FTC clan. Besides, they already have their own clan – this one’s for us! I am going to lock this thread. I do not want discussion going on here and now. Though there are some issues to the way things stand currently, lets get a membership base before we tackle them. On to the Admin Roll Call… |
