Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Yes I read it, and I know what you mean.... That's also the reason why I said swap me at any time you need to... If more people are willing to do that, it makes it easier for the admins to swap without having the swapped player leave. And... I finally saw Matador on CT yesterday or somethin!!!!!! |

If more people are willing to do that, it makes it easier for the admins to swap without having the swapped player leave. And... I finally saw Matador on CT yesterday or somethin!!!!!! The modified version of the "Losing Team Handicap" script that gives out cash and health is just that: it attempts to deal with handicaps based on team losses. No one promised it would always solve complex situations of team imbalance but it arguably stifles tension among players that would otherwise quit due to gross disparities in team wins. The key thing to understand about the script is that it is a supplement to what admins and regulars can do to balance teams. Most people are content to say that the losers got 8K cash or +25 health after three or five straight losses so everything goes back to "even." This is not my interpretation of what the script does. It's an early warning system and you should pay attention to it as an overall measure of what impact imbalanced teams will have on player count. Yes, this sounds selfish of me to bring player count into it but I'm working on generating some graphs on the correlation between high win streaks by one team, increased rates of player disconnection by the losing team, and the short-term impact on player count. As selfish as it sounds of me to want to see FTC packed to the gills you all should consider the implications if you enjoy a consistently busy FTC. Yes, player count does not always equate to enjoyment by all participants but it's a great start! Some people enjoy struggling through dire odds and others flip out at the first sign of pressure. We all have different expectations of what constitutes "fair teams," yet Jesus[tzahal] is an example (to me, at least) of someone who considers the big picture of team balance. Where automated scripts drop off it's people like Jesus that fill in the gaps to promote overall culture of team balance. Scripts are invaluable when it comes to keeping track of team wins, individual/team player efficiency but our greatest (and often untapped) resources are our people -- reg's and admins. We have to be willing to pick up where automation drops off. Also, just because I'm citing Jesus as an example does not mean I discount everything our other reg's and admins do. I simply want to give props to someone that is willing to dive headfirst into a complex issue and set his personal interests aside for the sake of FTC at large. It's a complex problem as Zero pointed out and it's known to most people. I would like to think that FTC has a somewhat positive reputation as a server willing to approach team balance so this leads me to my own confusion about this thread: How easily can we make a distinction between imbalanced teams due to terrible strategy versus expected potential based on individual score? Also, as a minor footnote, we're looking at supplementing team balance through swaps by using a specific EventScript. My intention is that the script will kick in as a wakeup call that teams are imbalanced (or admins and reg's are simply slacking!) but it is not meant to single-handedly solve issues of imbalance. It will take some time to test this script and it may not even reach FTC. I'll try to give you all a heads up if the swap script goes active, as well a chance to discuss the implications of using such a script. |

wrote ... very, very good question. How easily can we make a distinction between imbalanced teams due to terrible strategy versus expected potential based on individual score? because it is an opinion it is up to the admins on the server to interpert and take approprate action. a policy could help distingush between the two and should be looked into. but also keep in mind that this is only a pub server, don't expect CAL teamwork and excetionally skilled players evenly spread on the teams. |

You're making a peanut butter sandwich. The bread is realistically the entire server, but can be broken up into the two teams(CT's and T's). Now the peanut butter, is the players. But not all players are the same, are they? No, in fact they greatly differ from one another. so the peanut butter is NOT smooth and creamy and exactly alike per unit. No. its completely fucking different through the entire substance. This peanut butter, is thick and crunchy. And when you try and spread nutty peanut better over bread, it never spreads perfectly. Sure, you take place nuts on different areas of the bread to make it "look" like its evenly distributed, but get over yourself, it will never be perfect. Now you can either complain about not being able to use smooth and creamy, or you can complain that the piece of bread isnt big enough, etc. But are you just gonna keep bitching and complaining about fucking peanut butter, or are you just gonna eat your god damn sandwich? | ||

Hop on the FTC Testing/Development server and take a look at the (slightly modified) version of yTB I have running for team balance. I'll post more info later on how I have it configured but here is a link to information on yTB: -[link]- |
