Yup. Alex has known about this update for a few weeks now and we have been preparing for it. The update gets rid of the need for cl_restrict_server_commands so if you played on FTC tonight and you are accustomed to having the command set to 1, you will notice that the 'Owned' sound (when getting knifed) plays anyways. This update, when its released server-side, will essentially get rid of the Zblock mod that some servers use for consistency. There is a 'whitelist' that allows the different content in certain CS folders when pure is set to 1. We are stillworking out which folders will be acceptable on FTC though. I'm sure many people use custom weapon skins/sounds,,, but how many ppl use custom hostie/T/CT models? (We are still trying to figure out which folders to whitelist etc..) |

Actually pure doesnt cover all the exploits that zblock covers unfortunately. I read on the CAL forums that DX level hacks aren't blocked. At least it's a start. | ||

Despite what I've heard some people say, it really doesn't sound like it will allow custom skins, or at least the sound files that come with them. The scout skin I use is louder than the default scout skin, and that's one of the things that the valve page specifically states isn't allowed with this. Please tell me I'm wrong in thinking this. |
