| sounds fucked up on FTC | ||

so, I start playing FTC today after, idk , like 5 months of not playing and I find out that my sounds for certain weapons don't work. the AK and USP to name a few. I do have skins that use custom sounds and I was wondering if the server, being pure and all, would not accept them. heres an excerpt from my console: Failed to load sound "weapons\vunusp\usp1.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository Failed to load sound "weapons\vunusp\usp1.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository Failed to load sound "weapons\ak101\ak101_fire.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository Failed to load sound "weapons\ak101\ak101_magout.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository Failed to load sound "weapons\ak101\ak101_magout.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository Failed to load sound "weapons\ak101\ak101_magin.wav", file probably missing from disk/repository Well, its really annoying cause I cant hear when some t is shooting at me from behind with his ak. btw, I'm going to be playing on FTC more often cause its really fun. and I miss people. |

if you have your own skin/sound setup, most of them won't work with the new steam update on FTC | ||

FTC forces steam content consistency for the sound directory (among others) with sv_pure 1. By design this is supposed to allow you to have custom content, but not be able to use it where consistency is forced. Unfortunately Valve-programmed features are not always prone to working "by design..." | ||

I deleted all of my skins, and what do you know, the sounds worked. I guess I'll have to rename some of the sound files so they work on FTC. oh well. |
