Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Preemptive Well, allow me to cut everyone off…I banned two people tonight. Let me tell you why… 1.) My team (the losing team) was losing badly 2.) I tried giving the losing team (my team) money . 3.) That didn’t work. 4.) I gave my team money again. 5.) That didn’t work. 6.) I tried giving the opposing team (not my team) $0. 7.) That didn’t work. 8.) I did it again. 9.) I started getting complaints. 10.) I ignored them for that. 11.) The complaints continued. 12.) I kicked onion for his complaints. 13.) He came back. 14) He complained again. 15.) I banned him. 16.) There was someone else I banned, but I can’t remember. 17.) Whoever it was, all the above applies to you. Whatever happened to even teams?! I punish for that. |

Perhaps getting the facts straight would be nice.... - Yes you start removing ppl money - And ppl asked why - the answer was: Ask Impartial - Again Admin remove money - ppl started to complain (duh don'know why?) - Admin Started to mention about team not being fair (gee I even jump to loosing team just to get my butt throw back admin in the same round) -Server reload - PPl join and again we are accused of team stacking even when almost all the ppl use auto pick - Admin start slaying T for no reason (because they are winning) - A lot of the ppl start to ether Quit or complain - Now the 0$ start to happen to both T and CT - I get kick because I answer that Admin is having fun tonight at players expense to a majority of ct asking WTF (including some FT members) - I rejoin saying:Cute admin - (get kick and banned) 1)Now I don't know how many ppl complained but 1 thing for sure is that you had tonight ,0 (ZERO) ppl saying yeah go admin you are right. 2) One of the rule of your server (the last one actually) is to have fun.now I don't see how much fun I can have when I see Admin screaming at ppl, slaying them, removing money, etc 3) As far as team goes I do thing that Admin as control of : life points, cash and team shuffle (assignement) Now with that said I really hope that this night was a special case and the the next time I log on the server, I will be able to get the same kind of fun I had before tonight (and it include with you too Fetus) Or , I guess, The knife Artist can take is leave from this CT server. Again I don't wish to hold grudge toward ppl and really hope that every thing goes back as it was. Pete Bloody Onion aka the knife Artist |

Last of the "Player Rules" on the MOTD:We want a competitive environment and encourage players to balance teams themselves. Note: if players can't pay attention to balance teams on their own then admins may switch any player at any time. Admins also have the option of changing health, cash reserves, and any other resource to balance teams. Changing cash to 0 for the stacked team isn't something I've ever done but it seems reasonable when reading the rule above. There is certainly capacity for abuse, but many players are oblivious to why the cash/health/teamswaping even happens. I consider it ridiculous to have to stop and explain why someone got swapped, or one team got their health bumped up to 130 when the other team has won 9 our of the past 10 rounds. I think fetus may have gotten carried away, but I can definitely say that T's were abso-fucking-lutely loaded last night for dozens of rounds in a row when I was playing. Pete, you may have been unfairly targetted but there are a few observations: 1. You solo with the knife a lot. It's impressive to watch you knife three guys that run past you in storage, but sometimes it seems like you're only here to knife and couldn't care less if your team wins or not. Perhaps I'm wrong about this one but when admins are trying to keep teams balanced people like you don't earn much credit. 2. You play T's all the time. I find it impossible that someone could play on a single team this much -[link]- and take an active role in balancing teams. Again, this tends to give admins a negative opinion of you. I understand knifing is your style and I respect that, but please do not think that you are exempt from balancing teams simply because knifing and camping as a T on a hostage map naturally compliment each other. Your stats show that you use other weapons -- why not join CT's once in a while when you don't feel like knifing (and it looks like CT's could use help)? |

I have no problem with all the choices a admin can do to make the game more enjoyable and fair to the players on the server. Now where It start to get itchy it's when all the ppl start to pay for a guy who can't stay on the team he's assigned (and last night we know who it was And when I mean paying it's not the getting back to 0$ It's getting blatanly Slayed because you killed a opponent after you got 0$.(and not teamswap slay) and I will spare the rest. Now again I understand that we are all human and things can go sour so I just hope that it was a 1 night things and everything go back to plain fun. 1) As for me, I don't deny being most of the time on T side (actually 95% of the time) and it's also mean Staying on T side when we are taking a big ass whupping and not changing to the winning side to boost my own rank (wich is probably one of the worst here lol) 2) Tks for the compliment about my knife style and you are partially right about team goal. Yes its true that I favor knife as the main weapon and will most of the time get killed in a stupid situation. But it is also for the same reason why I play T instead of CT. As a T the goal is simple prevent CT in wich camping actually give a advantage to T side, thus making me feel no remorse in a suicidal attempt. Now as a CT, making myself stupidily killed by attempting rushing with a knife will sure please my other CT teamates. (thus the main reason why I play mostly T) 3) Last but not least the other reason why I was mostly knifing the past month was that I had a broken wrist and playing with a cast on make aiming impossible. now My cast has been removed since 3 week and I have been able to slowly recuperate (as you have seen by me now using guns) All that just to say that I have also lately started to play the CT team and would have no problem play on it if Admin would swap me. (Again did you ever saw me Swap back to T when I was CT force by a admin?) Now with all that said let's go back to our regular lovely schedule with this wonderfull picture of Jar jar Binks |

i was there when this all went down. while i was very surprised that onion got banned, he did call fetus an asshole. forgot to mention that. while that may not have warranted a ban, if you bait an admin shit like that is going to happen. as for team balance, removing the winning teams money is something i disagree with. the only people it hurts is the lesser skilled who are only good with more expensive guns. the better players (who are the reason for the stacked team) are typically better with a broader range of weapons. therefore it seems pointless to me. there are plenty of other actions that can be taken. i was on the Ts last night and i certainly was not a contributing factor to our winning, and yet i couldnt afford any weapons. what kind of an image do first timers get when they hop into the fish tank and shit like that is going down? banning, fighting, no money... sorry if my post was a little heated i harbor no ill will to anyone here. i love all you guys. this is just my 2 cents. peace |

In Fetus' defence, I think he took that opportunity to try new team-evening measures. It was a prime opportunity to experiment with new techniques, although I feel that people were not made privy to the situation, or were too blah to take note of the teams situation. Either way, it just seemed like teams were fucked the entire night. A keen observation I pointed out to Fetus, after Alex left and restarted the server was that there was an unusual influx of negative score noobs. After the restart, it was 7vs7 and Fetus was in spec, there were only 3/14 ppl with a positive score. I was one of them on CT, the T's had Teddy and another with a + score. Basically it came down to whichever team lost their + score dude, would end up losing. If I, or a teammate killed Teddy, then our team won and vice versa. But that doesn't sum up the entire night by any means, but it just shows that the noobs walk among us. Swapping players is also difficult when half of T's are knifing and half of CT's are scouting. The lack of consistency and the influx of noobs added to last night's stress. I hope that Onion and the other banned dude don't take last night too negatively. It was truly a messed situation. Giving $$$ to a losing team usually means that more of their players can stand a chance at putting up a fight. Giving health means that the losing team can get in an extra shot or two, might make a difference between a kill and getting killed. Taking cash means that the winning team can't overload the losing team with nades and armoUr. Has anyone tried TAKING hp from teh winning team? Remember GoldenEye for the 64? You get 4 players playing multiplayer and you set it to 'One shot kills?' Would it be worth setting the winning team's health to 50hp, or would that just piss people off? When such measures, ^^^, don't remedy the situation, or the stackage is too severe to fix by way of those commands, the tried and true method that will gaurantee unstackage would be swapping players. It may take a few rounds and a few swaps to get the teams balanced, but un-stacking is a first step. The problem is that when you want to swap a 1337 player from the stacked team to the losing team, out of courtesy, I'll wait until that player is dead before I swap. I suppose that after last night, it becomes clear that this courtesy should no longer be given in every situation, especially when total rapage is going down. Now, I'll try to swap top players at the end of the round, alive or not, and follow it up via a directed message or a green text, in order to smooth things over. I wouldn't want to harboUr any ill will for swapping, but taking necessary measures are a must. A couple of ideas that I brain-stormed in order to avoid situations that are ,,, unfavoUrable. 1.) AUTO-ASSIGN. When entering FTC to even numbered teams, 6v6 or 8v8, sometimes a person will deliberately join a winning team, when the option is available. What about upon joining, the computer forced you over to a team? Lots of servers have this and I don't think that its too much trouble to add, nor will it deter from any vital aspect of gameplay. 2.) Whats that anti-stacking mod where if you try to join a stacked team like 5 times, not only will it not let you, but after you hit the assigned quota, it will boot you?!? You guys have seen it, it has teh 'PJB 1/5" text or whatever then you try joining a stacked team again it will go to 2/5... and so on. It gives you a text explatining that you shouldn't stack or whatever. At least this way, those who are discreetly stacking will be exposed and brought to the admins attention. 3.) Round/Win Limit. I'm not a huge fan because sometimes I like to go for 100+ kills as many of us do. But it is a way to mix up teams. The bad part is that it could mix up even teams, and upon restarting, people could intentionally stack teams. Its a so-so idea, but I only bring it up as a lead off to my next point. 4.) "@spec #all" Alright, I just thought of this one and I think it could be helpful in instances where stackage is soo grave, that teams need immediate shuffling. Its like a map change or restarting or whatever, but you won't lose players to the [CANCEL] button, like during the loading process. Esentially, by tossing everyone into spectator, it will show 'Round Draw', reset teh team and individual scores to 0's, and with an auto-assign on, it will randomize the teams. I know its like flipping a coin, maybe the new teams will be stacked, but odds are, they won't be and it will mix up the flow of the game a bit. Also, it will CLEARLY show which team is leading and by how much. Coming onto the server and seeing 304 to 296 is difficult because it doesn't tell you which side has won how many,,,, recently. Starting at 0-0 every now and then can be beneficial. For instance 4-0 = stackage. Then you see which players to swap, or if its early enough, cash can be better utilized to buy rifles as opposed to SMG's. But these are just thoughts, chime in with the + and -'s and we shall see where this goes. As always... Praise Jah. GooSe Out. |

I think I agree with Cat Poop on the downside of setting cash to 0, as well as health to less than 100. It does seem to unfairly penalize average or below average players to the point where they will become just as frustrated as the non-stacked players. It may just make 3/4 of the players unhappy instead of only half (the unstacked team). Goose has some interesting ideas as usual, but most of the force joining / WTJ features require teams to be locked with a balance plugin. I believe auto-assign can be forced but if someone wants to WTJ then they'll get to the team they want eventually. PTBx has the nice WTJ warnings and eventual boot if you keep trying. As I've stated before, our experience of a few days with balance plugins was disasterous last Fall and I don't think many people will tolerate trying it again. The 'ma_spec #ALL' suggestion has potential, and it may shuffle things around even it only lasts a few rounds. It's a gamble because some people may get frustrated that they lost all their cash. It can't be that bad, though, because it affects everyone. We'll have to test this out soon but it needs to be clear that this is when boosting the losing team's cash, health, and a few careful ma_teamswap's haven't improved the situation. This also gives the admin a chance to breathe and not feel like the situation is spinning out of control... which happens to me from time to time. This could be a sort of "panic button" for an admin. Something to note is that balance plugins can be toggled on-the-fly. It might be worthwhile to have a balancer off by default, but in dire times of need, when teams require drastic reorganization, an admin can flip it on for 15 minutes or so to statistically (at least by KDR) put teams on an even keel. |

I do think that admin moderation is the best choice here (and it seem the majority of the time a FT admin is on the server) And again past night events weren't cool but do we need to start alarming ourselves when all the night before were great? And Goose, I didn't took last night with a pleasing smile but like I said we are all human and none of us is perfect so I can sure put it behind me and try to knife you the next time I see you lol. And lastly just to mention that I didn't call the admin a ppl behind (I agree that I saw the word often tought) Now I always believe that name calling never helps and By default if you start pissing ppl they get pissed at you. Now again Ill state it here that I have no freaking prob with Feetus and respect him as a cool players and a good admin. So now Im going to join the server and your all about to pay |

After reading these posts, I agree that setting a stacked team's cash to $0 is not a good idea. It seems like punishing the winning team rather than helping out the losing team. To Onion: I think we're both at fault on this one... I would like to appologize for banning you the other night. I think my doing so had less to do with your actions, and more to do with the fact that I was angry over the team situation. Perhaps, next time I play CS:S at 1am, after having consumed nine Jack and cokes, four beers and two glasses of wine, and get angry about teams, I'll try to relax and count to ten before doling out punishments. Having said that, Onion, as a regular, you should know that making comments like "cute, admin" is going to cause more problems than it is going to solve. Let's put this behind us, and continue to rock out with our cocks out on FTC. Edited Fri Jun 09 2006, 06:21PM |
