Did anything change we're not aware of in the procedure? Let's get a refresher from Alchy's sticky (in greater detail above): 1. Warn 2. Punish 3. Wait 4. Kick 5. Warn 6. Ban I feel like some of the admins forget that this is in place, if it is still current. Thanks! |

sure but when you know that someone is just there to fuck everyone up its obvious to the entire server that it needs to stop quickly. its just some asshat jumping from server to server shitting all over the place, and thats not kosher. i usually ban for 1 day in a situation like that. if he has a problem, he can come onto the forums | ||

oh right, i know there are some different circumstances, but you wouldnt just instantly kick someone for saying a racial slur, for example which is against the server rules. I'm just trying to get a handle on things! | ||

yeah i view those as a building block. certainly there are circumstances where waiting around would only cause harm, so that is often disregarded. most admins, though, do forget that most circumstances require these steps, myself included. so these wont always be followed, but in most circumstances they should, and i agree most people have forgotten about them. so thanks for the reminder

they are more guidelines, accounting that all situations will be unique it is up to the admin involved to choose how to handle it. but as far as i know that "general" escalation still exists | ||

What I meant to say is: the punishment procedure is usually in place for random players that come in and teamflash or somethin. You warn them and if they continue you slay. If they continue you kick, etc... But in the case of racism/discriminatory remarks to culture and or religion then I believe that a step can be skipped, especially to those who are already familiar with the rules. Granted, someone may forget and slip out a "racial slur" but hey, the punishment wasn't strait to a ban. A non-regular will of course be warned for saying something derogatory the first time because ... well, how many of you read the MOTD on a server ASAP? They need to know the rules so you will punish. But a regular who knows (or should know the rules, which is the case here) should know that it is not a good idea. Something as simple as a kick (where you can reconnect instantly) should not be taken as such an insult. Sure I could have warned by using green admin chat, but is a simple kick too much of a punishment to scar you for life? You know the rules, you know the punishments, so why break them to test the admin's decisions? Sorry if it was too harsh, but dude, you've gotta keep your mouth clean. If someone comes on and says "Sup niggas?" Then I would warn that the word is unacceptable... If someone comes on and says "Die you fucking nigger" Then do you really want to go in a slow process? I mean, think about it man... if there is a person with that type of hate then just because they don't say it publicly doesn't mean that they are a racist scumbag and are thinking it all game.... However, "Sup niggas?" isn't racist, however the terminology is not allowed as it can be used in a derogatory manner... This is all my opinion though, the ops can tell me off if I should actually follow the escalation procedure with racism issues such as this, but I assure you I do go in order with teamflashers... And also: 2007-08-09 17:22:32 Say I said "kick stetson this is an 18+ server hes like 10". So, I should listen to you and kick someone else for being "10" but I shouldn't kick you for being "racist"?  for like 8 months, ppl know bob made my old avatar into a spray for me... Eagle at one point said it was racist... But everyone else on FT i know saw it and didnt say anything about it cept, "LOL THATS A FUCKIN FUNNY SPRAY lululululul." As well as all the regs and n00bies. Like steel said, its difficult to find where to draw the line. IMO, nigga is fine, as long as someone doesnt come in and use it between every word. The other variation, however, is not allowed. |

Actually Steel, I did know it was you. If you recall, i reconnected, asked who kicked me, and you said in the all admin chat something along the lines of "guess you havent learned your lesson" and kicked me again, then the server was full and i had to wait to get back in. So, I didnt use names on purpose. Also in my specific case, if that is what you want to address, I wasnt fighting any power or testing anything. I play on more than just the FT server, so once in a while i'm bound to have a slip up and mix server rules. In my case, a simple "watch it five" in all or green chat seems appropriate. An anonymous kick, followed by a kick for me asking who kicked me, seems in excess of the procedure in the MOTD. However, do not make this thread about that incident, or you, because it isnt, or I would have put it in the Misconduct forum with all your other admin abuse threads. I would actually believe the opposite of you - that regulars who aren't constant offenders should be shown leniency if anyone is to be. As for you trying to discredit my apparent inconsistency, let me just say there is none. I'm one of the first people to votekick camping or just slow CTs, that doesnt mean I want them off the server, its just a warning. Everything can't be taken completely literally. That comment about the 10 year old was even made after he was off the server, so no harm no foul. You may not believe it, but this isnt (yet another) "i hate steel" threads. Ive been admin of 2 active CSS servers, and in a "power" position in many other games as well. Everyone handles their ability to kick, slay, whatever differently, and I honestly have no beef with you. All i'm trying to do is make sure the server is headed in the right direction, and alot of that comes down to how admins and ops handle situations. Hence me asking if this procedure is still the rule of thumb. |

Anyone who uses racial slurs in a server they know kicks for racism is desperate for attention. And a dbag. Notice how in every rulebreaker's thread they almost SCREAM out "LUK AT ME LULULUL" N_GG_RS make me sick. |
