Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Let me go ahead and apologize about the length of this post. It's a good read, though, and covers some important issues. Here it is... A lot of you may have heard that FTC2 could be changing away from 24/7 office. I'll try to explain my reasoning for this potential change as well as the consequences. First thing, a brief history of FTC2. I actually tried to post this history lesson in another thread but it got vaporized during the forum transition yesterday. When FTC2 started last fall/winter people were still playing on krem's FT server, which was pretty much stock CS:S maps if I recall. We had a rotation server, and office server, and a surf server -- pretty good spread. I didn't really know what I wanted to do with my second server so I tried a few different things. Trust me, a second 24/7 office server was not my first choice. Anyone remember my idea for a "Community Service" server last fall? This was a plan to use the in-game browser so that players could vote weekly on issues like addition/deletions for mapcycle, weapon enable/disable, etc. I got a lot of "hey that's a neat idea" but after a few weeks no one was participating. Kalibur was helping me admin and populate the server at this point. We tried cs_office_extended and I even considered a Zombie Horde server. Unfortunately having all those bots was just too much for the server which was already running FTC1 at the time. I was out of options and getting frustrated that none of my attempts had produced a populated server. Kalibur suggested a second 24/7 office server, just like FTC1, and this was what finally worked. FTC2 has had a fairly bright history since then. It's gone through some phases where connections were down to only a couple of hundred per day, but it has also gone through periods where it has held a higher 30-day average connection rate than FTC1. It has loyal admins and regulars just as FTC1 does and is not just an "overflow" for FTC1. People who have (sometimes rather calously) stated that there is no need for a second 24/7 office server baffle me. If it is unneeded why do people play there? Why do we have admins there? Why wouldn't they just play on FTC1? So, if FTC2 has connections and is doing well, then why would I want to change it? Two reasons, first: our servers are too specific right now. 24/7 office and Surf are too focused if we want to expand or even maintain the base of players in our community. Don't get me wrong -- the FT community and servers are things of which we can all be proud as they are today; however, we can only benefit from appealing to a wider audience of CS:S players with a regular map rotation server. My second reason for changing FTC2 away from office to stock maps is because players on the FTC's and FTS tend to frequent only one of the servers, and not all of them. This is understandable since 24/7 office and surf go together like beer and yogurt. That's not to say we don't have people that play both (or like beer and yogurt!), but there really aren't many. This doesn't help our community grow much when, at times, it appears we actually have two seperate communities that just happen to post on the same forum site. My hope is that a stock map server would be an ideal place for office freaks and surfers to mingle. Er, this post got pretty long so I'll try to wrap this up... Should this change happen, active admins on FTC2 would have the option of transfering their individual admin status over to FTC1, or be an admin on the new rotation server. Also, I would need new admins for the rotation server, preferably not surf or FTC1 admins. Also, I would need to ax the practice server. I wish I could avoid doing that, but I need to put the slot count up to around 28-32 for the rotation server. It would be too much for my system to run both. So what does everyone think? I want to hear from as many community members as possible about this, especially FTC2 players and admins. Again, this isn't going to happen tomorrow or even next week, but it's very possible. |

A few things mingled my mind while reading that. The first was "hmm beer and yogurt. I gotta try that ;D ". On a serious note. I really think we shouldn't change FTC2 to a differetn map. I don't play there often, but enough to see the dedicated people who play there and not FTC1. the reason? Maybe their friends play there, and FTC1 is full. So they play there, have their VERY impressive ranks. And are "office freaks". Taking away office from them would be like taking an injured kid and takign his wheel chair. Before you say "they can play FTC1" consider this. They've played like you said on FTC2 for quite a while (talking about the regulars here) and they accumulated nice hours and ranks. Now they would have to go to a server where other people play, who they don't know, start with new ranks. If I had let's say 2000-3000 or over kills ( yeh i know shut up! ><) I wouldn't want to start from scratch. Maybe I'm wrong. I can't speak for the FTC2 players. My suggestion is let them all have a say. Alexh you should add a poll to the MOTD so that the players playing there see it, asking "Would you play FTC2 if it wasn't 24/7 office?" or something along those lines. I see your point and personally I agree with both changing and not changing it. A full rotation server would probably do well. But then again it didn't last time. The Community Service Server you spoke off, sounded to me like the most reasonable switch, if a switch was indeed to happen. Anyway, like I said. You should really add a poll to the server, adn leave it there for a month at least and see the results. Thats just my opinion. Do as you will. Now if you excuse me I have a date with Mr.Corona and Mrs. Gogurt. Peaces |

Though I'm not a member of the FT clan, I am a regular on FTC1, FTC2, and FT Surf. Therefore, I feel I have the right to express my opinion. I don't know if anyone remembers, but I posted a thread a few weeks back asking "Why don't we have a regular rotation server?". That being said, I think you all know my opinion on the matter. I can't be the only one who loves office, but still gets bored of it sometimes. This would definitely be the best thing. It would also help regulars and FT members alike hone their skills on all maps, without having to break from the community. If any members are going to say "What about the practice server?"...well, I don't see why it's much of an issue. Just password the server on Tuesday nights. So, as I've said, I agree in full with the decision to create a full rotation server in place of the second 24/7 office. K. |

Well, Alex I will recall my earlier statement and say “SORRY†in another thread I did say that Kermit had a full rotation server and it felled horribly…. But Kermit did NOT have a 28 or 32 slot server I have seen on CS:S server that the ones with a lot of slots do really good now I’m also sorry about the Zombie server thing I should have never forced the idea on you… also I never knew you thought about a Zombie server when you and I were thinking of idea on how to make the office extended server into something people would like Now if you have a full rotation server with 28 or 32 slots then WOW that will be a server to play on I don’t know if your considering on putting custom maps in or just CS maps ether way it will be a nice change I really m not a big surf because I never can learn how to surf… and FTC is my favorite map in CS and is a great server to play on it does have its times were I just get tired of playing the same map, so having a full rotation server would help with that problem NOW I don’t know if it helps you or not but I would love to have a full rotation map I would also like to take this time to say SORRY for 1 last thing… I saw and read in your post you mentioned my name and how I help with FTC2 and office extended the reason I’m sorry is because I did leave you high and dry on FTC2 I left as your lead admin I did help you get connections and help pick admins but I really never took the time in saying THANK YOU for letting me be apart of the creation of FTC2 I’m sorry that in the end it did not work out the way you and I hope for it |

Now to be fair, my opinion is based on the amount of hours I get on each FT server Surf>FT1>FT2 (FT2 being a backup if FT1 is full) I have seen the argument from both sides and I am ready to make my decision. I understand that people have connections to the FT2 community. However I do think the overall Fish Tank community will benifit as a whole if FT2 were to be converted to a full rotation server. Now everyone would have 3 servers to choose from when they start up CS, and not end up treating one as an overflow server. My vote is to convert FT2 to a full rotatin server. cs_assualt FTW! |

What you said was completely true, surfers stick to their server and "officers" i guess stick to their own server. I understand friendships have grown between people on FT2 but not many friendships have grown between the surfers and the people of office. FT2 (Rotation Server) would make it so that we wouldn't be like 8===D, but like 8=====D~~. We would really be able to show off our "community clan" status by not just sticking to one server. I support this, it'd kickass. Edited Tue Jul 11 2006, 10:36PM |

i am a loyal regular to ftc2, and one of two lead admins. but now that myself and my admins have a sure spot in the admins list for the server they choose, i would consider changing ftc2 to a rotation server. I LOVE office, and everything, but believe it or not (this was a shock to me) people DO get bored with just office. I mean i know regulars who leave ftc servers to play other maps and i think it would be great if they could leave ftc1 for OUR rotation server, and not some others just because they get bored with office i understand that some of our regulars will be upset, but if they're loyal then they will stay to have fun with us, and not just because of the map. shit, we might even lose some ftc1 regulars to the rotation server. i would hate to see ftc2 go, but the change might be the best for FT and the community. |
