geeze alden CHILL OUT! its something that people do. It happened to me alot when i started playing fish tank. Admins would ban me for fun. Did i care? no. I knew they were just messing around. And its a good thing you werent playing at my house. If you got banned on my ID i would seriously kill you. And yes, stop putting shit like that in your name. If you put something offensive, then people will get pissed! Its the childrens revolution all over again! Being votekicked or votebanned is annoying. I can see Rainman's point. Guys, having "Rap Sucks" is not offensive nor is it controversial. I think we are maybe being too touchy here. "Rap Sucks" is not directly offending anyone. Nor does "Rap Sucks" fall under harassment. What if someone had "Sheryl Crow Sucks"? Are votekicks/bans going to be called? Furthermore, if he had "Sheryl Crow Sucks", are we going to continue to the inane conclusion that what he is really trying to say is that he doesn't like white women? If you guys are turning "Rap Sucks" into a racial issue then "Sheryl Crow Sucks" would mean I hate white women? If his name read "Niggers Suck" or "Jews Suck", then yes, I would agree that a votekick/ban would be warranted because those would be both directly offensive and harrassing. Who cares that he doesn't like rap? We give players the votekick/ban abilities because there are times when an admin cannot be there to moderate. I'd hate to see that ability taken away because some people abuse it. Rainman did the right thing by coming here to report this. He decided to act like an adult and try to talk this out. Would you rather he had gotten pissed and decided to mic/text spam or worse tk/ff? So far, Rainman seems like the only person in this situation willing to compromise. I don't see anyone else attempting to help. Wu, I understand that this may have started out as a joke. It's cool. Wu, maybe you and Rainman should "hug it out". Nobody's going to hurt anybody. Yea, Fetus does make a good point thats why we should all drop this and move on, i'm sure that rianman knows not to put stuff like that on his name any more... so lets just all get along and play CS Thanks |

I never said he couldn't put stuff on his name I was just improvising that it might not be the best idea it could get him votekicked or votebanned

Wow, and to think someone suggested you become a daytime admin, Wu. I'm glad you're smart enough to not do this shit during the evening when there are admins around. I see absolutely nothing wrong with RainMan posting this in a calm and non-aggressive manner, and asking, not demanding, the reasoning for allowing votekick/votebans. Unfortunately they are a necessity. The potential for abuse is understood and accepted. Honestly, I haven't heard much about votekick/voteban's being overly abused, but who knows... we rarely have admins on during the day. Thanks for the "heads up," RainMan, and I am acknowledging your complaint as a legitimate concern. If you don't feel comfortable reporting anything else here you can email me or PM here on forums. I guess I really do need to put out a call for daytime admins... EDIT: Emerican, I'm glad you remembered The Revolution! It's from a Upright Citizens Brigade episode, and it really seemed to fit at the time. I didn't use it in your thread in a very flattering way, but I'm glad you still find it humorous.

Well.. If what Wu says is true, then that wasn't the reason he was votekick/banning him anyway. I think this thread should be locked. |

it's his own decision what he makes his name. this is an adult server and people should be able to take a little shit from eachother. but his name is his own, and not yours to change as you see fit because it doesn't effect you or anyone else. it's not racist, sexist, or anything else.

I do find it funny though how everyone reacted. That actually changed my personality and lifestyle. I try to be more mature, and ive actually taken anger management classes to help me out so something like that never happens again, whether it be on cs or in RL. But back to the current situation. Yes, votekick/voteban is a risk on a server. Yes, it is good for when there are no admins on, but the risk is always there no matter what. If you say one thing and disappoint/piss off another player, they could persuade other players to vote against you. I have done that on other servers before, and it actually works quite easily. My point is, dont try to piss people off (as people have already said). Even if its a joke, wu, people could take it seriously like you hate them for some reason. Nothing against wu, because hes ultra pwnage, but this is just as much his fault as aldens. But, no harm, no foul, just forget about it like it never happened. wrote ...
