Let me first say that reading comprehension by some forum participants leaves much to be desired this weekend. I suppose that is a negative side effect when a half dozen threads are all trying to address basically the exact same issue. I also find some of the conclusions, demands, and ignorance in these threads to be comical, if not outright ridiculous. Hopefully some of you will go back and read your posts next weekend and understand how far off base you really are. However, to appease the people who are looking for an official update yet seem content to spam thread after thread with useless fodder... here it is. Unfortunately much of this information has already been brought up in multiple places, multiple times, but I will try to consolidate it as well as provide new perspectives of which you may not be aware. Foremost, I state that Knightrider acted on his own accord in recording demos of Kever. The lead/op team has had a completely separate discussion, which is still pending, since late January concerning Kever's gameplay. No action has been taken based on that pending discussion, especially not any official action which resulted in Kever's ban. I must also stress that we have every intention of maintaining the integrity of how we handle hacking complaints. We have been deliberate and discreet thus far and will continue to do so. Knightrider notified Omni and myself (I in turn informed the rest of our team) of his planned course of action. He did provide us with some brief updates of his findings; however, I was surprised to finally learn the motive that he has publicly posted. Again, as I already stated, his actions did not initiate the investigation of Kever's gameplay by the lead/op team which had occurred approximately one month prior to him notifying us of his plans. Furthermore, he was not specifically acting at our request nor was he acting as an agent of the lead/op team. While his findings may prove useful in our pending discussion, he is not a part of the lead/op team, and it was coincidental that his research overlapped with our discussion. Kever is still banned at this time. She will remain banned until she asks to be unbanned. The Leads/Ops team will address that issue with her in whatever means she chooses, should she choose to ask to be unbanned at all. We are readily available and she knows how to reach us. Here is an observation I would like to make, and I ask our especially vocal forum combatants to take note: Kever chose a private channel of communication on Saturday evening when she asked me to ban her. I imagine she will choose a similar means of communication should she decide to request an unban. I highly doubt that a seemingly private person such as herself wants the type of exposure that these various threads are bringing to her and, if she wants to see a public discussion on her behalf, she will make a public statement. Likewise, I see further public discussion of this issue beneficial only if she expresses an interest in doing so. I will specifically oblige those of you who feel an official notice of Kever's ban was in order: it would defeat the purpose of her privately contacting me, and I would have overtly done what she stated that she did not want to see happen. Banning her was not something from which I derived any pleasure, but she has always been discreet and polite with me concerning FT Classic issues and I owed her the same. It's fairly logical to consider that if Kever wants to tell the community something... well, she will do just that. Personally, I am appalled at the indignation expressed by some over not having a private exchange made public, and you will never convince me that that private messages should be made a matter of public record. With that in mind, it makes sense to try and help a friend when it appears he or she needs help, and I understand most of you have positive intentions by arguing on her behalf (though some appear to be doing so in the most ass way possible). What you may be overlooking is that Kever is an adult, and she is capable of determining what she wants. Ultimately she will decide what she wants and if she needs help she will most likely ask for it. We are continuing to explore options in resolving this problem with Kever. We will let you know when we reach a conclusion or require public input. In the meantime I ask that people refrain from petitioning for her to be unbanned, and I also request that you stop asserting yourselves simply for the sake of argument. I stick by my assertion that this thread is unnecessary and that people need to mind their own business. I may have been a slight bit harsher than normal when stating the opinion earlier, but I've had a shitty week. | ||
