I am making this a summary from ME about the resignations and all that stuff we are dealing with (as a clan). I would have put it in noskill's thread but it is not about the Clan as much as it is about individuals and aspects of the clan. So i needs its own place. Server wise at the moment i am the owner. Kinda a weird thought for me because, well, let me address goose first: Goose wrote ... Yes FTC is going through an Ownership/Operational transition and you stepped up. But what I don’t understand is why you won’t tell the rest of the community why you changed the server provider from NFO to the current Galore? Well, YOU didn’t receive the performance that you expected from the old NFO server so you selfishly changed the provider in hopes of solving YOUR connection problems… and look at the result. More people complain about the twitchy models and shitty performance of this current Galore server that is run at half the cost. (Get what you pay for?) It was a selfish move and a large CHANGE from what was expected… sure enough, this is reflected in the shitty connection counts. The server is no longer Owned by 1 person, it is owned by the community and we entrusted you to take hold of the Operational aspect because you asked for it. The responsible thing to do would have been to take note of the complaints and file a Support Ticket with the server provider and request that the issues get straightened out, or ask that the server be moved to a new box. (Alex had to file many support tickets throughout the years, it’s just what responsible server operators do.) You said that the Community donated 9 months worth of funds; did you put all of the eggs in 1 basket and use all of the cash for a 9 month contract? I’d hope that you would have only paid for 1 month, you know, to gauge the performance than renew/find a new company at the end of the month. I think the community deserves to know how its money was spent. WE, bob and I, decided to change FTC to Galore not to solve any personal problems. After deliberating it, the decision boiled down to several key points -NFO was roughly 2-3 times more expensive (if we wanted to run off of donations we needed to be financially aware) -We were hearing In game complaints, (be4 we moved) while playing on the NFO server about reg, lag, choke, etc (not an isolated incidents but all around and continuously) -we had history with FTe Galore server and liked them as a Server host Just understand clearly that it was NOT in ANY way to solve personal issues. We ran past the thought of moving it to Dallas for that, but or Canadian Bros would then be suffering and we concluded to put it in Chicago as a decent compromise. Also the server was on a Brand New box. I have the money. We bought 3mons for 170 and still have 292 dollars saved. We have filed support tickets and resolved individual ppls problems, (Jake did it really) Cali girl comes to mind. The complaints we received about the server we have done what we can to fix them. Jake and i were unaware to the mass amount of dislike toward Galore as a host. Even in 5$ 'Server thoughts' (here) had relatively positive posts in it. Bob and i asked for the Op responsibility and we tried, things don't always go as planned (like FTC re-launch). But goose, with all due respect, you made it should like Jake did all he could to make the server fit his needs and change it out of greed. I can guarantee he did EVERYTHING in good faith To make the New FTC as great of a server as he could. Now to the good stuff..... When Jake and i did the new server we accidentally made a simple system. You see, the thing is that i don't know how to fully(Key word 'Fully') operate a server. I was having trouble with FTP accessing the server files and was mostly unable to set up the server (not to mention it would take a lot longer for me to do it, learn it, etc). So the system was this: i had the funds and bob had the knowledge. both could not live without each other and we did what we could with it. That then takes up to NOW. I am unable to fully fill the shoes of Jake or of Alex. I am basically uncertain at this point of my role. Seeing that i never was a very good role model as an op it may be better if i work with other to get it settled but from this and my experiences it is clear to me that i am not a 'Lead Operator' (key word 'Lead') I can defiantly RUN a server but not Operate it. The details can be mentioned to those who need them further. I apologize for my reign as a not fully exposed Head operator and all that. I am not leaving but just trying to work out the best option for FTC. As i always told Alex Since day one, "i will do whatever is best for the server" It was a jedi code to me. I was an instrument of the force. And that is all i will ever be. (brings a tear to my eye). and on, clan wise it is simple. we will move on and be FT Clan. The TWO competitive teams did imho hurt FT as a whole. My advice is have ONE team and let the leaders rule it how they see fit (whomever they may be, if FT does CAL again), whether(weather?) it be tryouts or not, practices, etc its all their call. It is not, at this point, the idea of playing in CAL that hurts FT but having A, B, and C teams for it. One is enough. A final thought: Can we re-do the Site, or whatever it takes to make admin on it work fully, clean it up maybe? (those who know what i mean talk to krem) Edited Wed Jul 02 2008, 12:29AM |

But no, I wake up at 2:00 PM to all of this, lol.I do not know how to make scripts for team balancing, or how to make stuff on a website, my skill is quite minimal. however, I did not put so much work into getting in this clan to just walk away. I will be here til I am asked to leave. therefor, ANYTHING you need help with, absolutely anything, let me know. I want to help in any way I can, whether it be brainstorming certain ides, or doing little jobs. Let me know. I'd like to be a more positive asset towards FT's future. |
