How NOT to populate a server Do not join a 7 person server, wearing the tag, exclaim out loud "WHERE IS EVERYONE WTF!" or "WTF IS UP WITH THE PING, THIS SUCKS" and then leave. Do not come in and blatantly begin TKing each other down to 5 health. This sets a bad example and makes people think the server is a joke. Do not "wait for the server to populate" before joining. Despite common belief, servers do not populate themselves. Actually the more people who JOIN A SERVER the more likely it is to BECOME POPULATED. Do not join a server for 20 minutes and then leave as a group. This brings a server with 10 people down to 5 in 2 seconds. This is a great way to KILL A SERVER. Leave one at a time, spread it out. You're really doing more harm than good with this. Do not make people feel bad, this is the opposite of the last item in How To Populate. Making people feel like shit is a sure way to gaurantee they'll never come back. Don't be a douchebag to people, especially strangers. How to populate a server Join it. Even if there's ZERO people in game, join it and wait. It takes around 15 minutes to a half hour to go from 1 person to 10 people. Trust me, I've been doing it everyday since we got back up. When AFK, join the server and go spec, sitting idle in spec is a great way to populate a server when you can't play. This allows people browsing to think there's more active players than there are, causing them to join. When you get in game, invite everyone on your friends list to join the game you're in. Even if they say no, are "Away" "Busy" or otherwise, try. I've gotten many a full server doing this. Post in the chatbox to join the server. That way you can leave a message visible to everyone. JOIN THE SERVER!. I can't stress this enough. Just being connected to the server IS THE DEFINITION OF POPULATING IT. If you don't populate the server no one else will. 925... we need you guys to live up to your tag. When in the server, thank people for coming to play. Invite them to add us to their favorites, invite them to the website. If you see people you recognize, tell them "Hey I recognize you, how long have you been playing here?" then thank them. Goose explained this to me better than anyone else the other day. Why do people come to FT and stay with FT? The servers? FUCK NO. THey come and stay because of the people. The people is where it's at. Make connections, make people feel welcomed, make them feel remembered, people like that, it makes them feel good, if you make people feel good they will keep coming back. I'm taking a vacation coming up for over a week. I need you guys to do these things if you want FTC to live and prosper. When Zero enters a game and makes 5 people get forced out of the server, and leaves everyone else with really bad lag, wait it out. It is over within 10 mins. | ||

Here's my plan I gaurantee it will result in a full server every night. For 1 week. Every FT member when they sign on, needs to play in either Office or Surf. Nothing else, for 1 week. Every member of FT. For 1 week, whenever you're on CS;S join one of our servers. Even if it's 2v2 or you have to sit in spec just put your body in the server, for 1 week. This will allow enough other people to join, favorite us and continue to join that after the 1 week, you won't have to do it anymore. |

or you can do what I do for surf. Rusty joins the server, bam, it has atleast 5 people on in seconds, then it fills. works like a charm |
