hey, i was just wondering, is that "no camping at all" rule very serious? i have never seen an admin enforce the no camp rule, unless its spawn/portal camp. eveb the admins camp all the time. so i was wondering if it is really a "rule" or more like a deterent to try and limit camping. Yeah, we're super serial about the no camping thing. I usually yell at people if I see them blatantly camping (unless it's a map like surf_leet or slide avalanche, where you kinda have to camp). Basically use your common sense, cause you can't be on the move all the time. As for admins who camp, please let me know who. I'll have a talk with them about how they should be practicing the rules they are meant to enforce. |

From what I thought, the rule was "No camping for more then 20 seconds." and "NO portal/tele camping at all" | ||

Yeah, it's ok to camp for a short period of time, just not for the whole map, and you can't camp any portals. | ||

current rule stands thus: Rule 2 Rule 2: Don't spawn camp or camp ANYWHERE. Meaning: You may not stay still in an area for more than 5-20 seconds, waiting for an enemy to come. Note: Repeat offenders (as well as the occational new offender) may be punished for this offense without warning |

I can only think of one place where portal camping is a problem, and the ocasional 'watching my back' kill is sometimes considered portal camping. Surf_10X. When you surf down the right hand ramp after the pyramid, a good surfer can turn and look behind him or her as they go through the portal. This lets you know if you are being followed. At that point why wouldn't you turn as waste the interloper? As long as I have the skills I'm going to continue to look behind me to see if I need to fight or run. My definition of camping has always been similar to what has already been discussed in the thread. 20 seconds it the max in one location and if you get a kill.... move on. more than one kill in one location in any 10 second period is also questionable. Dunno how many of you play Battlefield 2 (or any of the BF series) but they mention that snipers do not stay in one location for more than one kill normally. The reason is that people will know where you are, not a good thing. just my
