Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Hey, now that I have your attention I'm upgrading to a new graphics card from my seriously outdated NVIDIA FX 5500. I need your advice. I'm looking for something cheap, yet good. I wanna be able to play games like oblivion, if not on high, then medium settings. I know nothing about this thats why I'm relating a game to preformace of it =P. I am aware of newegg.com but, its of no use for me, when I dont know what I'm looking for. Thanks for any help in advance! My System Specs: Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz 3GHz, 1GB of RAM Edited Sun Feb 11 2007, 08:51PM |

What kind of videocard you can use will depend on what kind of slots you have on your Motherboard. If you only have AGP slots, then you'll either need a new mother board for a PCI X videocard, or you'll just need to buy an AGP videocard. Typically, these days, an AGP videocard will cost you more money than a PCI X videocard of the same model. Not always, but usually. What model Motherboard do you have? oh, and your 5500 wasn't as outdated as my 5200 i was running up until last month Edited Sun Feb 11 2007, 08:58PM |

you want outdated..ILL SHOW YOU OUTDATED...my card .. Here it cost like 20 bucks now...i paid 50.. but anyway...heres my suggestions AGP: Radeon X1600/50, or GeForce 6800GT/GS PCI-E: Radeon X1900GT/Radeon X1800GTO, or GeForce 7600GT/GS |

if you want cheap and some performance and you go with geforce, avoid geting anything GS....if you can find an agp 7600 GT and up its decent, or like the other guy said a radeon x1600. I know the 7300 gt runs obvlivion like crap so dont go lower than 7600.

i just got an ATI 1600 XT, and its a pretty amazing card, I also have a pentium 4 3.0 ghz (upgrading to an amd 5000+ sometime this week) and my motherboard is old as hell and overheats (AGP, and again, upgrading to a hybrid agp/pcie soon) but with all the graphics on High, I still typically get 40 fps

hey ninca, i just bought a hybrid lol... be careful with the Hybrids though, as the PCIe slot may not run x16, but may only run x4. Read them carefully. And for my suggestion, go with Nvidia GeForce 6800OC or 7600GT or higher. 7800GS is really good and make sure u get 256mb GDDR3 or 512mb GDDR2. The 256mb 6800 series is an awsome card and is really cheap. My old 128mb DDR 6800GS ran CSS like source is its bitch, until i fried it. |
