Fish Tank Clan is a democracy. Voting is allowed by all FT members to ammend the way our community operates, by proposing new rules for the clan, nominating new members to the clan, or terminating a member from the clan. All members have equal say in votes.

Simplified Voting Process
1) Post your vote in forums (open proposals)
2) Proposal is DISCUSSED, and any disagreements should come here
3) If requirements met, close proposal, open vote
4) Vote passes, change is implemented

Proposal Process in More Detail (Policy Changes, Terminations, Recruitments)

1) Initial Proposal - A member thinks of a possible change to FT rules that would make our community better. The member researches the voting rules to make sure the vote is valid, making sure they follow all limits applied to certain types of votes. Each member can have only one approval open at a time. The member posts a proposal in the FT Open Proposals section.

2) Discussion Phase - Each member gives their opinions of the proposal, and possible changes to the proposal that would make it more effective, or improve on it. The original poster can modify the proposal to reflect clan members suggestions for change, but there must be 48 hours after a change to proposal before it is closed. Users may optionally say what they will vote for, and give a reason but this phase is not for voting. If the discussion meets requirements for a vote, a new thread is started for voting.

3) Voting - Once the member makes up their mind, they post their vote: Approve or Disapprove. There is no discussion, or opinions here. Max of 48 hours from the expiration of the proposal before invalidation. The votes are tallied when the poster wants, provided it is within the time limits for each vote.

Approve or Disapprove - Approval should be given after a member reviews the proposal, reads the discussion, and agrees that the proposal would improve our clan. Disapproval should be given if the idea would be detrimental to our clan.
Invalidation - If the proposal, or vote does not follow the rules of this system it should be invalidated. Specific reasons need to be cited.

Member Nomination and Termination
Days for discussion: 2-6
Days for voting: 2-6
Percent required: above 50%

Policy or Rule Change
Days for proposal: 4-10
Days for voting: 4-10
Percent Required: above 60%

Prohibited Votes
While changes are welcome, there are some things about our clan that cannot be changed. Votes that are not in the best interest of the clan, that changes the foundation of our clan structure, or is a proposal to change server or website operation is invalid. If a member is unsure of the validity of a vote, a senior admin should be asked for advice.
