So, last Wednesday I was sitting in Math class and the principle comes and drags me to his office. When I get there all I see is 3 cops, staring at me like I killed someone. When I walk in, I look to the side and spot my mother crying and suddenly grasped my hands and started panting "It's going to be okay, Jordan" repeatedly. At that moment, one of the police officers asks me to sit down, and announced that my father has collapsed at work due to a heart attack, and could not be revived. I realized that my father is dead. I thought I was okay, but I guess i'm not. It is day 5, and it's now that I suddenly feel 100x worse. Have any of you lost a close family member? What did you do to make it 'feel better'? What can I possibly do to stop this disclosure of feelings? Like... I can't even find myself to get out of bed, or talk to anybody. Councilors piss me off more than anything.... please help, I don't know what to do... |

I haven't lost anybody that close to me, so I can't advise you much. Probably the only thing I can think of is stay close with your family and friends, don't close everyone off from your life. A good support from loved ones is what people need in a situation like this. But again, just my opinion. But I agree with Glas+Stripe, you just have to keep going on with your life. Good luck, man. Nothing will help brother. Honestly, the best thing that anyone can tell you is "time heals all wounds." Why? because getting a mansion filled with toys wouldn't help. Getting a brand new computer with 50+ new games won't help. anything you've ever wanted in life simply won't help. Only time can slowly make this hurt go away. I am so sorry for what has happened to you Japa. I don't know how close you were to your father, but I know how much the pain is that you're going through. Don't be afraid to talk to anyone... seriously, that is the worst thing you can do. We are just a forum of people, we are not the best people to help you. Get out, hangout with friends, talk with ANYONE. Getting your feelings out now will help in the future.. |

I haven't had a dad my entire life. And I'm still going strong. It affects you more though because you have. Just grow stronger off of it, you'll pull through man. | ||

It is very hard to deal with the death of a close friend or relative. When my cousin shot himself, I just didn't know what to do or how to respond; I took a self-destructive course, and now I'm a pack-a-day smoker and I drink too much. I can't tell you how to feel better, because everything I had gone through has become a blur... I only remember the burial. You have to compensate for the loss somehow, so you can deal with it; some might suggest work, physical activity, or time. It is up to you to decide how to overcome your emotions. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you. Just don't do what I did, it'll only mask the unhappiness. |

japa....i feel very bad hearing this....but I hope the best for your and your family's recovery of this tragedy. I have some sense what's going through your mind. I had the best friend a person could ever have and we became sort of brother's. We started our friendship in 3rd grade and he died in 2nd year in college. To keep it short, once he died, i felt like i can't live my life anymore. |
