Musicks? O'Tay. Dr. Dre, for creating and giving credibility to a whole new genre. Operation Ivy, for bringing about the third wave of Ska (Wow, a bunch of people probably care/know what I'm talking about). Twisted Sister, for being the Gods of Hair Metal. Movies. Mmmm... Blair Witch Project, for being a horrible movie that has actually influenced good movies. The Big Lewboski, for briefly making comedy a serious genre. The Departed, for being the coolest movie of all time. |

The Beatles They became popular after the cold war I think..wasn't it in the 70s or something? First off the topic said effect on America not the world, so the fact that thriller might be the best selling world wide is moot. The eagles greatest hits is the best selling all time album in America (29 million to thrillers 27) so if we go by that then you should put the eagles in. Besides who hasn't been involved in an impromptu singalong for hotel california? So for bands/artists i would go, 1. Beatles 2. Eagles 3. Nirvana (many artists sold more records but few had as big an impact) 4. Tupac (as far as influential rappers go it's hard to top) Movies: 1. Schindlers list 2. The Godfather 3. Jurassic Park (broke earnings records left and right when it came out) 4. Star Wars just my two cents |
