need another opinion

peacebypeice, Sat May 09 2009, 05:42AM

so i finally got my new processor today and put it in my build and start it up...posts nothing to the screen and just keeps restarting itself...

the processor is new, the ram is new, the mobo is new, the vid card is new, the hdd is pretty shitty but works in other comps, and the psu is new as well...also the case is new...i have no idea why it would be doing this so i'm lookin for options

i would guess it's a problem with the psu but it is new, and from what i've heard if a psu doesn't work, it doesn't really work at all and won't start up at all..which it is still somewhat booting up

other idea is possibly ram? but that is also brand new so i really don't know what to try next...options paweez?

FFFUUU- Are you sure the PSU and the CPU/ram/processor are all compatible?

peace did you plug in the 4 volt power connector at the top of the mobo near the cpu? that was my downfall

if thats not the problem, take each part out individually and replace it with a different one to diagnose what exactly your problem is

This. Its a common mishap that most people overlook when building a PC. God knows ive done it. My most common mistake is not plugging the hard drive power cord in.... I do it every build.

What exactly is happening though...? Do you get ANY picture? No bios or anything right? It could be a number of things. Look at your RAM compatibility list in your Mobo's manual. Sometimes this could be the problem. It could be your video card not doing anything, therefore not projecting any image to the screen. Does your monitor show its got a connection but no image? Or does it act like its on standby and nothing its projecting an image?

I highly doubt its your processor. Seems more like a motherboard/RAM problem. Its def not a hard drive issue, cuz even without a hard drive connected you should still post to Bios. Check all your power cords. Re-hook up all the wires one by one.

Chances are its your motherboard. Only way to test that is by putting each part one by one into a new board and see what happens.

Good luck.
