The Fish Tank Surf Olympics

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I would like to introduce to you the Fish Tank Surf Olympics! You might be asking yourself, "Didn't the Olympics just end? And wasn't that shit in London?" Well my friends, this is a very different set of games. Check out what's on tap:

The Skill competition: Takes place on 4 skill maps over four days. Every stage on each of the chosen maps will be assigned a point value, and the surfer with the most points after four maps gets the gold!

The Battle competition: Teams of two will compete in a double elimination tournament to decide who is the best Non-skill surfer. Each round will take place on a different map. Maps include: Surf_Machine, Surf_Machine2, Surf_10x_Final, and Surf_Barnyard

The All-Around competition: Each individual player will compete by surfing some skill maps and battling in 3 on 3 matches. Points will be awarded and the winner will be crowned the all-around best surfer.

Also, what is an olympics without a way to watch them? There will be two ways to keep up: First, SourceTV will be set up in the server for anyone to watch it live. Second, I have recruited Nostie to make short highlight videos of each competition to be posted on the forums the next day. He will (hopefully) have a staff of people to help him record demos and edit film, and all of the videos will be posted on the FT youtube channel.

Who is able to compete? Any and all players who play on any of our servers are allowed to enter. Anyone is allowed to enter any competition, and you can enter all three if you want. Any of you office guys who want to help support the surf server and have a good time, you are more than welcome to join. I sincerely hope many people who wouldn't usually surf will try this out and see how much fun we'll have.

When will this take place? I was thinking mid to late September. That way it won't impede on the GO launch, and by that point most of us will already have scratched our GO itch. Every night will be a different event, with Skill and Battle alternating nights. The events will take place at night, around 10-1030 Eastern time (when most of us are online), and some exceptions can be made if somebody can't make it.

I have a ton of ideas, and many details still need to be hashed out. But I can't do this all alone. I need one or two people who would be willing to help me choose maps, set up brackets, decide prizes (yes, prizes), and just help out with all the little things. We would also need some volunteers to help out Nostie with the videos.

All in all, i believe this would be a great way to have some fun and get some action on surf. If you have any interest in this or in helping me pull this off, please sound off below!
