He agreed to a 10 year 275 million contract. This is after the yankees said if he opted out, they would not talk to him. On ESPN it says this. NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez and the New York Yankees have agreed to the outline of a $275 million, 10-year contract, a deal that potentially would allow him to earn millions more if he sets the career home run record. The amount of the guaranteed money was revealed by a person familiar with the negotiations who spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity because the deal hasn't been finalized. A-Rod met Wednesday in Tampa, Fla., with the Steinbrenner brothers but the parameters of the deal were set in place last weekend. "Yeah, I could say that," Yankees senior vice president Hank Steinbrenner said. "The meeting was a final get-together. He wanted to make sure myself and my brother knew that he was sincere and serious." The Yankees still must draft the agreement with Rodriguez's agent, Scott Boras. Also more about the yankess, they are looking at Mike Lowell right to be their first baseman. But in the end, FUCK THE YANKEES.

The whole A-Rod thing still rubs me the wrong way. ESPN is reporting he went around Boras to get in contact with the Yankees. This after the Yankees said they wouldn't talk to him. Boras is a dick but it gave me the feeling that A-Rod wasn't cool with the shit that his own agent was doing. In the same breathe, it's still HIS fucking agent so he should have his puppy in check. In the end, he will be back in pinstripes. My personal opinion is that the money could have been well spent towards pitching. Yankees over the last few years always try to stack the batting order at the expense of pitching. I'd rather give that money to Santana then give it to A-Rod. I don't take anything away from him that he was practically our entire offense this past year and he will eventually take the home run record. Just like a dog chasing his tail, we're back to the age old argument of would you rather have offense or pitching. Doesn't matter. Support your team through good and bad. I just have to have faith we get some pitching this year and the Red Sox plane crashes on takeoff so the entire team breaks their arms and legs. |
