Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

bleek wrote ... Edit #2: KNIGHTRIDER READ THIS, I SPECIFICALLY WANT YOUR INPUT HERE KJSDFKJSDKFJSKDLHGJKSDVH: How would you feel about the user of the month if we didn't give a steam gift? Just some recognition for helping out in the form of an in game advert or news post. I want us to find some common ground. Sure, why not? You can start out by giving Alex user of the year, because I'm pretty Goddamn sure nobody else has done more work than him. What are the ground foundations for giving this out? What makes a "user of the month" and will there be the same guy getting it every month? (from a non-OP standpoint, the next person up to get the award would be Nostie unquestionably.) I don't really see this being much of a benefit down the road. This thread is kind of something so we can get shit done NOW, because it needs to be. Things won't always be smooth, but I don't think we're going to appoint a task force to review a demo. That is kind of already up to the admins to do already. And getting into 925 is a big incentive in it's own entirety, which is why this idea works. If you're in 925, you've met some pretty sizable requirements to wear the tag, which means you know how the office server works, and you've survived 200+ hours to deserve the nomination by abiding by the rules. Most likely if you've earned your way here, you've earned yourself some major merit, like the ability to be trusted to do things that normal players cannot. Edited Wed Aug 29 2012, 05:03PM |

You seem to think that these task force's will be run by 1 person every month (possibly nostie). On top of that, if you only expect one person to help every month, why not just make that person a LA or OP, and have them help. Knightrider wrote ... Just because I make a very exclusive hard to get into club doesn't make it worth the effort. I love fish tank. I love it because of all the fun memories I have of it from the years past. New members however, have to come to empty servers and to a website where people tell them "You should do work for us for the privilege of wearing a tag". While it may hold value to me and you, new members will not understand the benefits from that because they cannot get the benefits we have of our fun times here. All they get is Fish Tank as is today, and I don't think anyone here will argue that it has populated servers to play on. I think what keeps us all here is our common history and online friendships. Now, if you want to consider older members and get their help then sure. But most of those people are already in the '925'. You cannot ignore new customers. If we want the GO server especially, to thrive, we need to be more welcoming to people and look down on them less as poor souls who will work for us for the privilege of a tag. I'm not sure you're interpreting what I said very well if at all. I thought this was about getting an award, not running a task force? Where did I say that these "winners" would ever be running a task force? bleek wrote ... Just because I make a very exclusive hard to get into club doesn't make it worth the effort. I love fish tank. Are you just skimming what we type or are you actually reading it and just not getting it? I'm serious man, I'm not even sure where you're getting any of these ideas. Alex's idea is to strictly restrict this to only admins and 925 members, which I wholeheartedly agree with. Why? Because these guys either did their time in the server and worked their way up to an admin, or they have put tons of dedication into playing in the server. Nobody ever said this would be mandatory or that you would have to do any work of wearing the tag. If you want to be trusted to be appointed to a task force, you're going to have to meet some requirements. bleek wrote ... Now, if you want to consider older members and get their help then sure. Actually, no they in fact, are not in the 925. In fact, the majority of people that are posting on these forums right now in this thread are indeed not in the 925. Much like surf (but with harder requirements), the 925 is a nice sub-clan of FT. FT's requirements for right now are generally lenient, and it's pretty damn easy to get in if you've played around 75-100 hours. From what I remember, 925's requirements are double that or more. This 'task force' is going to handle FTC-related issues not FT related issues. Please understand that, because this is where we are drawing the correlation between 925/admins and a task force. I hope I made this a little easier for you to understand. |

I am reading your posts, however you just fixed a major misunderstanding I had with you and alex. Jesus christ. My very first sentence in my very first reply to this thread: "Here's my two cents, but I may not know the community as well now of days. I may be completely off on my interpretation of the situation." I thought when you guys were saying 925 you meant members registered to this forum. The last time I played it was just FT and F7L5. Every time you guys refereed to the 925 I assumed you were just spouting a number of community members and referring to them as such. Your above post was the first to explicitly state it is a clan, which I now realize. With that said, I still firmly stand by my point that putting restrictions on community efforts is a bad idea. If this was a server where only 925 members could play, then yeah that make sense. But these types of this affect people who play on the server so why not let them all in on this ability? And before you say "no clip Tuesdays" again, like alex said all these things have to be approved by the OPs. P.S. That's a neat clan name 'nine to five" and this being an office server =P EDIT: Just so you understand while we were miscommunication on that aspect, I still believe letting more people join these task forces is crucial, and an member of the month type incentive is a good idea in my opinion. EDIT # 2 (FOR KNIGHTRIDER SPECIFICALLY): I know you didn't say the task force leaders would get rewards/member of the month. I was the one to suggest that. I'm saying let these people form these committees and then reward those members who go the extra mile and do it more than anybody else. When you said "One person would win that always" it made it sound like you thought only one person would be taking the rains. Also: there doesn't have to be a member of the month every month. But any time we see someone go above and beyond there could be some recognition given to them. SUPER MEGA IMPORTANT EDIT: When I think about it it's actually better to keep the number of people eligible from doing this to a smaller group of people. Otherwise the responsibility will be diffused to such an extent that no one will do anything. Yeah, restricting this to a clan (925) is a great idea. This thread is a good example, I think of what a forum should be. We disagreed and debated it to such an extent that we (at least I did) reflected on my arguments and saw the silver lining in what I was arguing against. It also helped that I understand now 925 is a clan. I'm on board ^_^ Edited Wed Aug 29 2012, 06:41PM |

bleek wrote ... I can stand behind that. I don't understand why things haven't already been running like that. Back in 2006-07 things definitely were not restricted to admin decisions. Why has this become the norm? Restricting a community will always decrease the number of participants. For the record, bleek, as long as I've been an op on FT Classic, operators and lead admins have had the final say on server policy and all operational changes. That was definitely true in 2006 and 2007. I doubt anything will come from this thread but it might be a good idea to keep in mind. Thanks for playing! |
