Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

The rearranging can be left up to the admins to do. After all, the first step in team balancing should be swapping players. The cash and health script can be avoided by doing so. Other then that, a good script and it should leave people feeling like they are playing in a fun environment. Our server is becoming more and more advanced thanks to Alcohol

lol holler, i'll come back to CT eventually as soon as i get my 1000 compact kills and 1000 dualies kills. cha 14 in a row, i don't remember the last time i've seen that, one thing i've always enjoyed about the tank is that unfair teams usually even out within 30 minutes. we've all been on the losing end of that 30 minutes and it sucks, but that's CS for ya. but yeah, i noticed the script in action last night and i think it's a good thing. |

Great job on the script Alex!! It works amazing. I like some of the other ideas in regards to allowing the script to give money and health continuously until the losing team becomes the winning team. The only other thing that I can think of is to have the script run the ma command to automatically switch everyone on ct to the t side and vice versa. I'm not too sure how that one would go over though as I don't know of any other way to automatically switch the highest skilled player on the winning team to the losing team. But then again, that responsibility could be on the regulars to switch themselves and/or have an admin switch people. Anyways, good job on the script Alex and let me know if there is anything I can do to help you out. |

Well night, usually if one team wins like 14 rounds, their proab isn't an admin on or this admin is not doing his job. Since TasteColdSteel left and Caine doens't get on as much, not the usual admins on. I see cha on there every afternoon. The re-arranging thing would be nice when admins aren't on. |

Script works, as people have said... But I'm not sure this script is the kind we want... i think maybe on every 3 rounds lost, the person with the highest kdr on the winning team should be switched teams... in my opinion this would work better than health, and cash, as the teams would be more even player-wise; not more even in other ways. |

theres generally an admin on the server though. People should always be prepared to team swap. I see the better admins on the server doing that (as opposed to those who just fill cash reserves) and it really does help. It takes some thinking out but still, should be encouraged.

Well nostie, there were two problems with admins manually handing out cash. The first problem was that most people agreed cash/health was a great first step to stave off severe imbalance, but there wasn't always an admin around to make that happen. Second, many admins (SOMETIMES myself included) got stuck in the habit of giving cash/health and thinking that was the best chance for balance. If teams were still screwed after that then... hand out some more cash/health. I think the script is a great start to team balance and frees up admin focus to either play (which is what we're all ultimately here to do!), or watch for patterns of one team winning five or so, losers snap their losing streak, and then a bunch more wins for the winning team. The notice of "X team has won Y round(s) in a row" is a huge benefit by itself, and the cash and health are a nice stopgap to massive disconnects/complaints about team balance. The handicap of health/cash obviously doesn't solve all problems but I will proudly say that swap people when I see fit. It's a constant balancing act though, and even if admins could have time to play and find the perfect swap every round, sometimes swapping makes things worse. I don't say that to diminish the effort of admin enforced team swapping (and I appreciate Holler for his positive comments about some of our admins!), but I think this script only helps everyone -- admins because it automates something we basically did before (albeit not always consistently) and players because even when an admin isn't around the "losers" still get a modest handicap. Honestly, having a script/plugin to balance teams is a nightmare. The ones that prevent voluntary team swapping are rarely crowd pleasers. Trying to write a script to balance teams and come up with the most effective, yet subtle, method of swapping skilled players would require at least one metric crapload of effort and I'm not sure I have the time or endurance to see that through. We'll see though... I have work-related programming experience and ES isn't that difficult to wrap my head around. It wouldn't be happening anytime soon but I'm playing around with the idea of writing an ES to assist with team swapping. |
