Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Looks like a test on FTC tomorrow evening is the next step. Most of plugin operating parameters can be tweaked with CVAR's so testing with live players should be easy for me to do and adjust accordingly based on feedback. I'll try to shoot for something like 6:30 PM EST tomorrow, Thursday. Please stop by if you're interested. |

I have no doubt that the test will go well. Everything I've heard from the limiting testing on the other server makes this sound like it's going to do great on FTC. Will be a much welcomed addition to the server. I'll also try to hop in the tank around that time.

I watched for about an hour and a half yesterday after I loaded the plugin. It appeared to work, though I admit the settings were rather conservative. There were no serious concerns or bugs that I saw. I got a few minor suggestions which I will look into, and as promised I will explain more specifics of how it works (and what those cryptic stats in console mean!) this weekend. I will leave apTB running on FTC today. Please let me know if you see any problems. Thanks to those who helped yesterday! |

It definitely worked like you said AP and I saw no major bugs with it. I know a few people were expecting "an instant team balance" every round which was not the case. It takes a few rounds before a swap is made due to, like you said, conservative settings. But, it seems to be working nicely and is a much welcomed addition to the server for both admins and players who hate stacked teams.

I got to be swapped I was happy...It seemed to work well. I like how it swaps after a few rounds of consecutive losing, so it doesn't get too out of hand. Good work Alex, people who are running servers that decide to come into here are going to be impressed, as well as just everyone in general. We might see a boost in regulars and server connects!

Just a heads up, I've worked out some kinks with apTB and a new version will make its way to FTC sometime soon. I am traveling for the holidays late next week so hopefully we can get this thing tested in the next few days. The most notable improvement is that apTB will now handle 'player count deficit swaps.' Fancy term, I know, but this basically means that it will try to balance teams when there is a significant difference in the number of players on each team. This is currently handled by mani and the logic behind mani's autobalancer leaves much to be desired. Hopefully this update to apTB will improve the perception of balanced teams in that arena. Many people have mistakenly thought apTB was balancing teams when it was actually mani kicking in because of difference in player count by team was greater than 2. Also worth mentioning is that automated swaps will occur immediately at round end instead of the beginning of the next round. There are two reasons for doing this: the first is that there is a high margin of annoyance at being switched at the start of a round. I'm sure many of you have been ready to call your legendary strat and... oh crap, you're on the opposite team! Hopefully players will be less surprised when they are swapped. The second reason for changing swaps to the end of the round as opposed to the next round start is to make the combination of disparities in player count, as well as averaged team skill (by KPD, win streaks, etc.), easier to manage. A lot of players go spec or try to switch teams in the period of time between a round end and the next round start. Trying to compensate for typically unpredictable player behavior just wasn't working. Damage immunity is granted in the span of time from swap to next round start since live players will be swapped over to the opposite team with this format. I'm sure there will be minor issues with this upgrade but it looks solid as far as I can tell. Of course I've just been testing with bots for the past few weeks! This upgrade will go live at some point in the next few days... I don't want to do it tomorrow (er, today, Sunday) because I may not be around to keep an eye on it. Monday afternoon/evening is likely. The thread covering the outline of apTB operate will get updated soon but no promises. EDIT: Goose will rejoice! The "allchat" notifications about win streaks, etc. are colored now! Edited Sun Dec 16 2007, 10:24AM |

Yeah I saw that you were in the Development server on Friday so I jumped in to say Hi, but you were in spec. I noticed the change in text color... it looks secksy and stands out more. apTB ver 2.0 should rockzors. |

No news is good news, I suppose. The updated version of apTB has been on since Monday evening and I haven't heard or seen any complaints. That doesn't mean there aren't any problems, but no one has brought anything to my attention. I did notice a problem where the TB meter resets even if a team swap did not occur. I've fixed this and an update will go live in the next few days. On a humorous side note: within 10 minutes of loading the updated version on Monday I saw the new round-end team swap kick in and someone complained "wtf i got swapped before round start." Someone responded with: "it's always been like that, you just don't notice because you're usually dead" .... lols |
