On THAT topic, I think we should change the practice server's name in the mean time. Today, I got bored surfing, so I went to the practice server thinking more people would join. Wrong. I think it's [partially] because of the name - FT practice/scrim server. I think people get intimidated from the name, and don't join because they fear being kicked for being in a scrim server. Anyway, do you think you could just change the name of that server to something along the lines of "Fish Tank Public 24/7 regular maps". I just want to play some reg maps in an FT server  . Very interesting to say the least. A move such as this would bring Officers and Surfers together in a common meeting place. However, it could alienate the hardcore FTC2 base because of the stats and such. (My suggestion would be to reset the stats on FTC again, and allow ALL officers a fresh start on the dedicated FT Office server.) Having a 28-32 slot server is great. (Especially if there's no lag) It would mean a bit of work to get it going though, and it would require Officers and Surfers to help in getting the ball rolling in terms of connections for the first little bit. This move could be difficult to get started at first,,,, remember before the Prac/Scrim server, the OLD FTC was a ROTATION server, with minimal connection at best. Also, I kinda like playing with other people who can play 100 straight rounds of Office, (or Surf for 100 rounds) without straying to another map. That just says something about the character of the person. With a Rotation server, it seems that there are more problems that come with it,,,, TKers, general server policing, and a greater potential for admin abuse because of it. With the upsurge of 'Riff-Raff', nominations within the FT clan will be more difficult. (At that point, I would strongly recommend a hour/post quota, but I'll save that for the right time.) But yeah, with a bit of work, the potential for a Rotation server gets me stoked. Its something 'new' and its worth a try; sadly at the expense of FTC2. But I know that it will float, and it will bring more good people (and Riff-Raff) to the forums. Just Give'r.

Though I hate to see FTC2 go, I do understand the solid reasoning in doing so. However, if/when the change of FTC2 to a rotation server ever happens, I would like raise some suggestions. In terms of admins, I think it is a great idea to give them the choice to be admins on FTC or on the rotation server. I think this is fair. In terms of the regulars, I think we need to have something to give them as well. Like any other server, the regulars on FTC2 are loyal. They have played many hours on the server and have built up their stats one kill at a time. I think that it would be prudent, if they decide to come to FTC, to give them an equal shake at stats and rank. I propose that, if the changing of the server goes through, we reset stats on FTC the same day. That way, those on FTC2, who are stats savvy, will have an equal shake to strut their stuff on FTC. It would suck to be a good player on one server and have rank to show for it, but not be able to do the same on another server, despite the same capabilities. I think resetting stats on FTC will help bring some regulars over. This is just a suggestion. Let me know what everyone thinks about this |

Well like ive mentioned on the other thread. Im totally up for this and giving it a try. Like it was said before it would take some time it getting it going and getting new players or even moving FTC2 players/regs into the rotation server or into FTC1, but i think with time everything will work out. Goose is completely right, if admins get the chance to choose between moving to FTC with there admin status or move it into the new rotation, then players of FTC2 should get a say in what they want as well. I know right now we dont see many FTC2 regulars on there in this discussion and i think thats due to the fact that we dont have many FT members in FTC2 besides me, joker, wolf, stell, and cope. Having more FT members in FTC2 would interest more players to join the Site. Not to mention if players dont see the adverts i do state in Green admin talk to get onto forums. I think the most interested are already here. I think the ones who are registered with the site are the main ones we should be concerned about. If we've got players on FTC2 who dont care to join or register at the site, then what say can they really have? I am still working on getting more FTC2 players/regs/admins to get into the discussion and have their say in it. Joker, Wolf and I are the 3 admins that put a say in. Other then that, seems as though most agree with this change, i think it'll be something different but better. It will bring this community together. Especially of those who get bored of office and want to join a rotation server, well FT now will have a rotation server players can join. Players you may have never played with before, or only talked to on forums, you can finallyget to know them and play with them now. Like i said before, we needed FTC2 players to get into FTC1 and surf and FTC1 players into FTC2 and surf, but i think with this rotation server, something like that can happen now. So im up for the change and see how it works out. It'll take time, but it'll pull through. |

OK, let's go ahead and plan to do this change. I think we've got enough support and several people have provided suggestions on how to make this transition as smooth as possible. I appreciate the thought and effort that everyone put into their responses. |
