Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I find this useless because there are so many other ways people can get around this to ghost. You can ghost in vent, SteamFriends voice chat, Xfire voice chat, or any other voice communication system. This feature of the server is not stopping anything. /\ || || || || || || || First off, allow me to point out that THAT way up there, is the MAIN reason that i term it useless. Personal frustration does does play a role in me wanting this feature removed, BUT it is not the driving force. It feels as if you have neglected to read this paragraph the whole time. I thought I should make it to where you couldn't miss it. Alcosatz said... Really? I was showing that people are not going to be ghosting everytime they join the server on the same ip. I gave no layouts of my house i simply stated that we did not stack our comps right next to each other. The quote you are refering to as a layout is: Also are comps are in two separate rooms. As you see, I am most definitely not giving a layout of my house. Therefore no one needs to "give a shit". It's "ridiculous" that you are going to bitch at me and imply that no one fucking cares about that. Alcosatz said... Nah... I'm actually not. I will direct you up to the rather large bolded, italicized, and underlined paragraph above. I do not choose to ignore the benefits of why this "useless" feature is here. I just see them as being excessively outweighed, and outnumbered by its deficits. Alcosatz said... First, no i cannot not tell you the exact percental of ghosters blocked. No one can, because the "useless" feature has no way of determing if the ip, in use by two players at the same time, is being used in an erroneous manner. Your question actually helps to support my argument. Why put a protective device like this on your server. It is highly ineffective and obnoxious. I gather my data from the several years of my playing on ftc and witnessing or being a part of ghosting. It is not very hard to hop in vent with a few friends and ghost. It's much more of a challenge to set up two computers right next to each other. That means alot of wasted money a second computer. The majority of players that would like to ghost are not going to go though all that trouble when all they need is a voice server. I would write more but it is 5:00 and i need to sleep. Shall we disable VAC because there are ways to cheat which are not detected by VAC? I find the rarely disputed anti-ghosting feature of Mani useful because it prevents one of many ways in which players ghost. If you can not acknowledge this then there is no point in further discussion. Edited Thu Jun 05 2008, 12:52PM |

I can't think of a time where people actually ghost by shouting to each other. It seems pointless to me and it has happened to me before as well. Just an annoying feature that should be turned off imo

I'm sorry, am I the only one that doesn't care about Kirby/Kcow/supporter's opinion on the subject? Is the attitude "when you own a server you can run it however the fuck you want" inappropriate? I'm sorry... but... QFT? |

it happens when you play most servers. It may not stop everyone from every way of ghosting but it dose stop some of it I think it is a good feature. As for it now blinding you even when no one else in your house is playing office that is most likely a bug from the sounds of it. That part would be of more concern. Kcow wrote ... Just an annoying feature that should be turned off imo I can think of a time really fast of f the top of my head. constantly at my store (I own a lan center). I see it a lot both when they are playing online and when they are in a lan match people will tell others of the location of enemies. They also have the ability to visually see them if the computers were to be close to one another (as in the case of a lan center) It may not be as common in people's houses but in more public gaming places it is common place. I wasn't thinking of lan centers, that is a good idea pocky. NoSkill I wasn't saying "Change it this fucking second you faggots" I just said I thought it was useless. It is the server owners decision, thats why I said "in my opinion". Sorry if you misunderstood |

i'm really not sure why kirby's gettin attacked so harshly for this. imo he's trying to improve something that is annoying on the server not demanding it be changed. if it can't be changed or is a lot of work, fine, but this is no reason to pull the douchebagery card and be a prick and just shoot him down.

peacebypeice wrote ... blah blah blah... but this is no reason to pull the douchebagery card and be a prick and just shoot him down. It's the only card I have and has worked great for me thus far. Yah maybe I shouldn't of been so harsh... but... "suggestions" are overrated and most of the time unwanted. Also I thought the conversation was ended with the following: Alcosatz wrote ... You are assuming that because an anti-ghosting counter-measure fucks up your evening that it is "useless" and serves no purpose. This does not strike me as a very compelling reason to turn it off, nor do I see any obvious way to exclude your IP. That wasn't harsh, it wasn't insulting, it was a well stated reason for NOT changing a long standing feature. This reason wasn't acceptable to Kirby and has resulted in the thread we now find ourselves partaking in. Ok so you walk into Wendy's right, you order a hamburger with Venezulan pickles. The Wendy's guy gives you regular pickles. You go back and tell him you don't want regular pickles you want Venezulan pickles because they're tastier, cheaper, whatever. The Wendy's guy tells you he doesn't have Venezulan pickles and that his highly successful business has been running fine using regular pickles. You tell him he is wrong and that it would be much better if he used Venezulan pickles. The Wendy's guy says thanks for the advice, but I own the store and I don't want to use Venezulan pickles. You tell him the customer is always right, he tells you to go fuck yourself and if you don't like it Burger King is down the street, take your Venezulan pickle problem to them. What's the difference here? Kirby isn't a customer. |
