Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I am surprised nobody hes made a thread about religion. First off, religion is a touchy subject. Because of religion, the world is in a giant war. Palestine and Israel, the middle east, everywhere there is a war because of someones religion. People believe in different things, and that is what has caused all of this. Personally, i am a catholic, and while i believe in a single god, i do not practice my religion. The reason i bring up this topic, is why do we need to believe that there is something driving us? Something watching over us, picking whether we go to heaven or hell. Is there a heaven or hell? Or is it just a made up world used to judge people based on their actions. This is related to bleeks thread, btw. |

I'd like to bring up a huge flaw in your logic: religion is not the reason that the world is in a giant war - conflict of interest is. Religion is just the tool of the "big-wigs" to get the masses to take their side in the conflict. | ||

"religion is not the reason that the world is in a giant war - conflict of interest is" huh? And religion is the heart of most wars. For example: Muslim extremist groups have one goal: to destroy Jews and Israel. |

Take other conflicts around the world, aside from the Israeli - Palestinian conflict. Let's look at a genocide for example. Who's seen Hotel Rwanda? That's about the Hutu and Tutsi genocide. Is the cause of that religion? No. It's conflict of interest. One party was given power in the government while being a minority, so the other fought to gain power in the government. How about Darfur, I'm sure you've heard of that on the news. Are the sudanese government funding the janjaweed to murder the native darfurians based on religious belief? No, its another conflict of interest. There isn't one sole cause for wars, there's many, regarding, but not limited to, religion, land and resources... |

The man who made the Taj MaHal, Shah Jahan -[link]- conquered a palace before he built the temple for his wife. And in his society he owned before his wife, he used to hold meetings. Meetings with a priest, or monk, or just someone of each religion of the highest power. To come, and discuss religion. He never spoke at these meetings, he only learned from what they said Pure wisdom came from their discussions. Just imagine what they discussed there, becuase they all walked out alive. No fighting. No arguing afterwards. All agreement. just think |

conflict of interest is basically a more general way to classify wars caused by religion by. anyways i am christian and i do practice my religion. it is a touchy subject. whenever someone brings up 'religion,' the atmosphere suddenly changes. but then again. emer. your post...what are you actually trying to discuss about. the topic of 'religion' is just way to general because there are many issues that are related to it. |

Jesus[tzahal wrote ... For example: Muslim extremist groups have one goal: to destroy Jews and Israel. You know what? I support the Muslims in their war to take back the land that was taken from them. Wars are not fought over religion, they are fought for land, for money. I believe man created this god creature because he naturally needs someone to look up too; someone to be the answer to his questions and sometimes even his scapegoat. How can you classify an entire group by their religion and then claim that the war has nothing to do with it? And not only did you just contradict yourself, but your whole logic is flawed. The whole fight started over Jerusalem. Jerusalem is considered a holy land in both Judaism and Islam. So I don't see how you can say that the war is over land, not religion, when the land is desired for its religious value. And it's nice to know that you support "the Muslims" in their crusade to get their "land and money" back. I'm also a big supporter of people strapping bombs to their chest and attacking civilian targets, because that's a surefire way to get land back. I mean, what the hell is a diplomatic solution anyway, when have compromises ever helped? Go "Muslims", keep bombing the shit out of both yourselves and your opponents, it really gets you somewhere! |

quote by george carlin which i totally agree with: "when it comes to bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all time champion of false claims and promises, religion. You talk about a good bullshit story, HOLY SHIT! Think about it: religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man who lives in the sky and watches everything you do every second of every day and he has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do and if you do any of those things then he has a special place full of fire and smoke and tortue and anguish where he will send you to suffer until the end of time...but he loves you, he loves you and he needs money. The church takes in millions of dollars each year, pays no taxes and somehow always needs a little more. God is all powerful, all knowing, and all wise, but somehow just cant handle money." Religion, just like the sanctity of life and the death penalty, is man made. It is a self serving enterprise to provide people someone to believe in and rely upon when they need it and also to serve as a scapegoat if things go wrong (yes this may be the devil you turn into the scapegoat rather than god but the devil is also part of man made religion and therefore a crock of shit to me). Religion is a interesting subject. As you say there is a war about it which I find most amusing. I am not a religious man, but I have read many different faiths and was brought up Christan. All of them teach of a deep love for their fellow man and to walk a path of peace and love. To take what ill things happen and life and only show kindness in return. The fact that they kill in the name of this religion is the greatest irony ever. As for what drives people to feel there is a greater power, I think this is partly from the natural phonomina that happen around us every day. Sometimes thing seem to convient or planed as if there is some sort of divine will or fate. Another part of it I think is fear. Humans fear their own will and the will of others. They want to know that something is watching over them and that there is forgiveness for their actions. It is conforting to know there is a god even if you fear him you at least can have the satisfaction that your life is being lived to some existent to it's greater will. Some people simply do not want to control their own life and will give into a power that they believe in. That I think covers the generalizations as for the problems in the middle east. These mostly spring from noneducated people. They do not really read their own books and listen to the interpretations of men who make these great books of peace into books of war. In essence these are men are fighting over small parts of the same religion in fact christens also are grouped in this because it is all the same faith. To clarify this is how the religions go. First we got the Jews they are believers of the old testament and think the mussia has not yet come. They do not recognize Jesus are a messenger of god. The christans are a group of Jews that feel that Jesus was the son of god and was the Mussia and messenger of god who died for their sins. The Muslims are Jews who think that Jesus was a messenger of god but only a prophet. The think he was the second to las prophet Mahamid being the last. Please correct me if I am wrong but I think I got it all straight. As for the other faiths down in there I am not completely sure of them I know bits and pieces but mostly the teaching of all religions are the same. Battles of religons happen from time to time. People can not have their idea of god challenged and the books tend to speak of enlightening their fellow man but they do no mean at the tip of a sword or the barrel of a gun. The people who want greater power will take these well meaning text and use them to their advantage to gain it. They misread piece of their faith and use it to stir up already open wounds. This creates a religion war and once it has began it will most likely never truly end but only have a uneasy truths at some point. A sad fate and irony to befall these well ment text. While I do not believe in religion I think that all men can learn from the lesson that are placed in the bible and all religious text. I think they said it best in dogma (not direct quote because I can't remember it right and I can't find a quote) Religion is not important it isn't about who is right or wrong. What is important is to have faith. That is what made him so angry you people completely missed the point. what was the point The point was to have a good idea. When you have a faith you can change it but you cant change a religion. |
