Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I'm now in University residence.. For those of you in the same boat, you know what it's like. Basically I'm too busy with 1) drinking 2) schoolwork or 3) just socializing in general to come in the tank, let alone play cs with my competitive team. I can continue to donate like i have in the past just give me a shout to who and for how much. Add me to xfire: chickenfart or pm me for my msn I don't want FT to die, but there's only so much that I can do to help. cheers |

I'd be willing to help. In what ever capacity is needed. I'm not as emotionally connected as some, so I wont throw a hissy fit if its not packed all the time. And I would personally be in favor of how it used to be. A small team of mature admins, decent balancing and rules, and a minimum of extra mods. I've been around for awhile and know the community and office pretty well I think I know I've never really stepped up to a leadership position around here before, but I'm just throwing it out there. | ||

It's encouraging to see feedback on this thread. Thank you all for participating. Let me go ahead and apologize for the long post. Most of the feedback on this thread is supportive but I find the critical responses the most interesting. I'm opposed to responding directly to some posters, so I'm going to condense my response into a few (lengthy) points: 1. Hosting, Operation and Donations The dedicated server I offer is free for all intents and purposes. This is how FT Classic was originally launched back in 2005 and under absolutely no circumstances would I demand payment. Donations are not needed and, unless this thing really takes off again, I'd rather not discuss money. Of course this is contingent upon the realization that the dedicated server which I offer actually works well. I'm fairly confident it will work out for most people but you need to understand it is hosted in the Mid-Atlantic. Some of our "Left Coasters" may not enjoy as decent of pings/latency as our previous Chicago rentals. This is a fair warning, but I believe most people will be satisfied. A GSP rentals may be an option too and I am sensitive to others needs. The last thing I want to do is alienate folks out west. Moving on, I see this issue: Knightrider wrote ... cTB to have a decreased swap rate. I know you said you were going to work on this, but another reason I saw people leave was because of the high rate of swapping. It would be much easier if we had a dedicated team of admins that could do the swapping on their own when necessary rather than having to go through all the time making a script to do it for you. ...and I have multiple solutions. cTB is already capable of forcing a minium number of rounds to pass before any individual player is swapped for TB purposes:
It's been run in the past to not honor the minimum number of rounds before switching:
I was too stubborn to set it to '1' but now I'm ready to do so since it appears to be a problem. I'm curious to see how it works out. My point is that cTB is highly configurable and, even if the current logic/configurability falls short, it can be changed. Another solution is to drop it completely and attempt to have a dedicated team of admins that manage individual interpretation of "fair teams." I tend to lean towards the consistent, automated effort but there is absolutely no requirement that we do so. That said, I have all of the scripts, configuration files, media, and logs from the previous incarnation of FT Classic. There really isn't much that needs to be done to get the old FTC back in action from an operational perspective. PR and advertising is a whole 'nother issue. There has been talk about people not able to "run the server," scripting, etc. The good news is that this is precisely what I am willing to offer! NoSKill makes a decent point here: NoSkill wrote ... The problem has never been the server, the money or the operation. The problem has been the demand. The DEMAND for FTC was not strong enough to support it. I mostly agree but I say the demand for FTC isn't as much of a problem as the willingness to follow through to accommodate the demand. If it makes life easier for people to forget hosting and money then that's what I would like to see--I'll handle the technical BS and it's no skin of my back to do so. So we move on to point 2... 2. Leadership We need leadership! A few people have privately pressured me to, should FTC get back on its feet, get involved in a day-to-day, hosting, scripting, etc. capacity. This isn't going to happen and many of you should be pleased that I am unwilling to handle these responsibilities. I'd like to think I've done more help than harm when it comes to taking a stand on certain issues but there has definitely been disharmony between myself and core FT contributors, regulars, and admins. Obviously this is going to happen no matter who is "running the server" but we need a clear abstraction between who is "running the server" from an operational perspective and who is keeping everyone in line, handling hacking disputes, etc. There needs to be a clear division between whoever ultimately operates a potential FTC (whether it's me or someone else), and the people dealing with the general set of players and admins. It all goes back to social and community leadership, and I am too happy to stay out of it. This gives others an opportunity step and leave their mark because, let's be honest, if my style of being involved in forum administration, in-game day-to-day operations of FTC, and flaming the shit out of regulars both in and out of game, worked so well... why is FTC non-existant at this point? FTC needs a "Lead Admin," or "Executive Officer" from a personel and day-to-day perspective. It seems foolish of me to just pick someone when many aspects of the FT community encourage plurality and egalitarianism. The next point will draw this issue together, hang on! 3. Time Expectations So when is all of this supposed to go down? I don't really know. The demo server that I am offering is up at 64.83.52.226:27015, sans FT branding, if anyone wants to play around on it. Nothing is final at this point, and again, I want to stress that I am only offering an option for the revival of FTC. If my plans and ideas stink then call me out. I'm not even in FT or 925, remember? Both Knight and NoSkill have expressed opinions that now is not the time and yet they both support a revival of FTC. I see a certain amount of wisdom in this stance, but I also see the need for planning. Should FTC make a come back then it better be pretty damn well thought out! All I'm saying is that I have no expectations on timing, but I do want to stress the need for preparedness should FTC become a priority for many of us. So let's take some time to think about all the garbage I've written above and, if anyone sees merit then let me know privately or otherwise. If my rough plans look legitimate then perhaps we can take nominations for a "Lead Admin" of the attempted revival of FTC and then have an open vote? |

Seeing that FTC died on my watch i feel responsible and if we can get the leadership roles defined and give out duties to a group of DEDICATED ppl then i will help where i can and where i am needed. But structure is partly to blame for the collapse of FTC (along with myself) (not alex). So that is the bacics of it. imho |

Lol knightrider already took you up on the challenge of finding the 50, from my last count there's 30ish or so in that post. Bandito, your job, if that post doesn't reach the 50, is to find the difference. (Why you?) Because you're the only person from hardcore FTC that plays surf & is well liked by everyone. You would make a great facilitator or liason for FTC to anyone, either internal (surf) or external (visitors). Too bad that's your role. Btw I would strongly suggest not making me leader. The main reason is that personal differences and "my way" of doing things, could discourage "fun based" activity on our servers. I tend to be pretty no-nonsense when it comes to running shit. To the point where if I tell you to do something I expect it done, quickly, without excuses. I'm not very emotional & have little patience for anything I deem "bullshit". (which encompasses a large spectrum of the type content on this website) To whoever decides to be the leader though, please feel free to ask my input, as i have a pretty good outline in my head as to how this should all go down, including requirements of members, suggested list of members in what roles, technical resources & suggested plan of action for implementation. You want to go to war? I'll take you to war, but if you're coming to war with me, you better plan on fucking winning. |

who defines we. It is not a clans decision. separation of clan and server. wrote ...

9. A proposal cannot be made requesting changes to any FT server's operation, admin list, mapcycle, etc... That is beyond the scope of the clan, and server operation is up to server owners and operators. Proposals that do not deal with the clan, its members, or its operation will be declared invalid by the membership, and the thread will be closed accordingly. |
