Me and Baghdad Bob have created a Seti@Home team named "Touching Uranus." A week ago I dedicated a cheap'o box to the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence; .... Intel Core2Duo E8200 2.67Ghz 1333FSB 6MB L2 GALAXY Nvidia GT430 1GB@128bit (176 GFLOPS) 4GB Crucial Ballistix @ 1333 CL8 in a Logysis Area-51 case with Win7x64 =$480 ($50 cpu, open box MB deal, and free RAM) .... It has earned over 10,000 credits since then and I'm sure it is nothing compared to the monster machines the rest of you have. You know the movie Contact. -[link]- Well there needs to be someone listening, and thats what team Touching Uranus will help do. If you want to join up please go to.. -[link]- download the client and fiddle with it. /\/\/\/\/\ WARNING/TIPS This program will tax your system like prime95, if you are an overclocker you need to watch your temps for a while as it first starts getting jobs. If you are using your gaming rig, then look at options and preferences under advanced to see how you can have it go to work after idle time and stop work when you go to use the PC to game and whatnot. /\/\/\/\/\ We look forward to having more people join Touching Uranus. |

Why wouldn't you want to be a Seti@Home; Touching Uranus member? nostie, you could convince your school to donate resources towards the program they are most likely tax deductable non-profit. And there is a setting in the program to throttle upload and download bandwidth.... This Touching Uranus thing is going to really catch on. You guys could get in on the ground floor! See what your system can do, its like running benchmarks but your cycles go to something useful. |
