Noooo no no no no. Stop believing that Clinton was responsible for the economic boost in the 90s. He took part in it, but for the most part it started with the Republicans in office in the 1980s. Clinton is given way too much credit for almost nothing. He accounted for a president that cheated on his wife and banged his secretary, and a giant fan among black people (Gee I wonder why?). Stop giving Clinton credit for shit he didn't do. | ||

if you think Clinton's presidency didn't have majority of the impact on the economy, you are an idiot. Have you actually had another president than Bush and Clinton? Do you remember the majority of his presidency. There are two things I didn't like that Clinton did, one was the telecommunications act of 1996, which made it impossible to be a media monopoly. This bill had the right idea, but money took advantage of little loop holes, now the world is run by 5 to 10 major conglomerates. The other was he passed a bill that, with the right intent, would have made living a lot more easy for the middle class, instead, greedy money grubbing banks took advantage of the bill, and now look what we have, the mortgage crisis. Two great ideas that got taken the wrong way by the rich. Other than those, there is the Taxpayer relief act of 1997, and lets not forget the big Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993, you know, the one that is credited with turning around the American economy by raising taxes and cutting government spending. If you are really that gun hoe about the lowering taxes to help the economy, I suggest you take some political and economical classes when you can, you'll learn a lot. As much as I hate having to give up money to taxes, be it not a lot yet (about a grand a year), well, either way you look at it, taxes are going to have to be raised considering our deficit (especially after that $700 billion bailout plan) is bigger than ever, and our debt, well lets just say, if China was to say "hey, we butt fuck you rong time instead of you pay back" I hope we'd say yes, because we are never going to be able to pay that back. After his failed healthcare reforms, the republican congress is what had control, as his party lost seats in every election following durring his two terms except one. What is he known for? NAFTA, balanced budget, welfare reform... these were all the republican platform issues of the 1994 and 96 elections (Look up Contract with America). Furthermore, the republicans got a cut in the capital gains tax and a child tax credit. He leaped into samolia and then left the second it got tough, leaving the country an absolute mess (Bin Laden has referenced samolia as the example of the US as a "paper tiger", not having the guts to finish what it started). He ignored the first world trade center bombing, the embassy bombings in Africa, he let Bin Laden go in Sudan because he didnt want to spend any political capital, he ignored the USS cole attack, and allowed sudam to kick the weapons inspectors out and he did nothing about it until he launched a couple of cruise missles, al-la Wag the Dog, convieniently the same day the blue dress came out. Via Madaline Albright, he gave North Korea nuclear materials as part of an aide packege because he trusted they would use it for electricity. Then theres the impeachment. Yes the republicans went after him for political reasons, but he still lied to a grand jury... thats called purgery and it would end any of us in jail. He did get disbarred for that. I suppose he wasnt that bad of a president because he didnt royally screw up things... too much, but that was because he was too busy royally screwing around. Then on his way out, he pardoned all of his crony buddies. If the economy wasnt good at the time, no one would like him. I would also remind you that he is the only two term president ever to NOT get a majority of the popular vote in either election." |

i think Obama's going to win because he is still gaining more and more support as we speak and he seems a little more hard-working than McCain. im probably going to end up voting for obama but for the most part i also feel like both candidates suck. i just hope obama doesn't fuck it up for any other future black candidates. - oh yea ya boy madV's planning to see a sick debate, at his school, *cough cough* Edited Mon Oct 06 2008, 05:16PM |
