Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Okay, so I had to read this short story for English class called "Tall Tales from the Mekong Delta". It was without a doubt the shittiest and most unappealing short story I've ever read, including Poe's "Fall of the House of Usher". So, after wasting a half hour reading this steaming pile of shit, I had to write a reflection. Since I only get graded on whether I reflect on the assignment for the full half page, I get to write whatever I want. Here's how I handled it. I have so few positive comments on “Tall Tales from the Mekong Delta” that I doubt I can muster enough energy to express my abhorrence for the story and the writer. This is the first story I’ve ever read that I was unable to find one good thing about. It was an ambiguous attempt at creative symbolism smattered with poorly developed characters and single-sided dialogue. I don’t know whether this story was the result of the author’s poor attempt to illustrate female subservience or some other feminist agenda or if the writer was just tripping on acid and only had a pen and paper to entertain herself. Lenny was such a debased and creepy character that William Faulkner wouldn’t have been able to comprehend him; and he wrote about an eighty year-old woman who is having regular sex with her deceased husband’s corpse. Braverman’s other character, the Woman, is either being slapped in the face with a chloroform soaked rag every other paragraph or is just a complete mental invalid. As I progressed in reading it, I kept thinking that some form of conflict or climax might finally bubble up and make my time worthwhile, but I was desperately mistaken. She has a drink at the end and Lenny continues to have complete control over her. That was the only nominal change throughout the second half of the story. He had complete control of her actions and mind, and then he gets her to take a drink, and he continues to have control. I wrote better stories in my fifth grade English class. I need to find what company published this, because I could make bank giving them some poorly written stories. I have actually come to lose respect for you since you assigned me to read this and actually said it was good during class. So, do you guys think I should turn it in or rewrite it? |

Turn it in exactly the way it is. If you do not get a good grade on it, then your teach obviously didnt go to college. That's a magnificent reflection. A+ |

Keep it as is, but you need to find somewhere to slip in "I actually think I've become dumber having read that."

Ugh. I had to stop reading the actual short story after a few paragraphs. It was just obnoxious to read.

That was a great review. I wrote in a book review once where the last sentence was "You get no points, and may god have mercy on your soul". Taken shamelessly from a Will Ferrel celebrity Jeopardy

Disrespecting your college professor will not get you an A. Maybe rephrase "I've lost respect for you" and say something like "I have no idea how you could have deemed this short story as 'Good,' because it was nothing short of an obituary talking about Marilyn Manson's father. Yeah, that bad Pancho."
