Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Just a general question to everyone if there is any tidbits i should know before my parents sign me over a car. For example, for some reason my cousin was warning my mom that she should put it as a gift....didn't really hear the explanation why helpful news like this would be greatly appreciated ^ ^ Edit: p.s. car could use a paintjob, how much do those go for? The reason why you should get the car as a "gift" is so you don't have to pay a shit-ton in taxes when you go to register the vehicle. I'm not sure how much the car is worth, but make sure you have some funds set aside. Between maintenance, gas, excise tax, registration fees, and your paint job, you could easily blow $1000 - $2000 your first year of owning a car. It's worth it though. For the first time you won't be reliant on someone else to kart you everywhere. The first time you really get freedom from your parents. |

I don't know if you daddy is going to pay for insurence but if you have to pay for it, I would set aside $3000. Keep in mind though if your insurence is like ours you could also pay monthly. Just got some pics of my first car. yeah images don't work ... Edited Thu Jul 08 2010, 05:32AM |

Well MadV... your insurance will be like 5k or above.... trust me. And yes, put it as gift as long as its from a relative. When you go to the DMV to register the vehicle you need to pay taxes... like everything else. Gifts you do not have to pay. My car was worth 17K... and it was not from a relative. I could have put gift but it looks suspicious. So instead i put the car was bought for 3k and poor condition. Set aside some money because you will have to dish out yearly maintenance costs. It is a necessary evil. But it is freedom on wheels and very worth it. Do not, i repeat, do not dish out money for a paint job if it is your first car. If it is really bothering you get it wetsanded or buffed or whatever... A full paint job that will not look like shit will cost you upwards of 3k+... possibly 4k if the guy is really good. Sure you could get a $800 paint job... but the clear coat will be wax, it will last 1 year tops... and you might get your rims painted for free... as well as your tires, windshield, mirrors, lights, etc... Save your money. Trust me. EDIT: God forbid, but you might get into an accident... then and only then can you get a paint job paid for by insurance lol. Edited Thu Jul 08 2010, 04:23AM |

Just park your car next to a car thats not locked, open the strangers car, and bash it against your car a few times. Then leave the scene. wait for them to come, back, return to scene with your best WTFace. Then you get some money to put towards your paint job. Good luck! | ||
